What to expect
This Vatican Museums tour begins at a designated meeting point near the Vatican in the early morning. Head straight inside the Vatican through a special entrance reserved especially for groups. In your small group, remain close to your guide at all times and explore some of the 2,000 rooms in relative tranquility. Admire the golden vaulted ceiling in the Gallery of Maps; stare at Michelangelo's world-famous ceiling in the Sistine Chapel; and marvel at enormous frescos in the Raphael Rooms. After your tour of the Vatican Museums, head to St. Peter’s Basilica, and receive an overview of the church from your guide. Then, spend as long as you like exploring the church with relatively few crowds.

Robbery
Jan. 2021
The Italian government prohibits entry to non-EU citizens and our cruise was canceled.

The last time our last cruise was canceled we received full cash refunds from City Wonders.

This time around they re-wrote their terms to where they keep your money ($1,437), offer a "credit" in the hopes of people never using it.

They are probably smirking in the knowledge they can re-write the rules any time they want to.

Very poor business practices.

Dear lakew00de, Thank you for posting a feedback on Trip Advisor. We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our cancellation policy. At City Wonders we have been fair and loyal to our customers despite the devastating impacts of the pandemic and while we did amend our policy (before the pandemic started), we have been trying to accommodate our customers the best we could. Unfortunately nobody expected that the situation will go on for this long, as our agent informed you yesterday when you contacted our customer care line, we are still awaiting to see how the situation will evolve and we asked you to contact us again in April. We live in a very challenging time, we are sorry for everyone affected and our Customer Care Line is available every day to assist. Kindest Regards Chadia City Wonders Team

A must see in Rome
Aug. 2020 • Solo
There's so much to see in the Vatican that a guide is a must to tell you what you're looking at. Our guide was fantastic although note that this tour is not early access and does not cover St Peter's Basilica currently due to coronavirus. I'm not sure whether this is reflected in the price.

Class Act
Was hosted by the lovely Amil Bello. Warm knowledgeable, charming and funny. Amil was an absolute delight and her colourful storytelling of the historical development of the Vatican and its patronage of the arts (more specifically Pope Julius II) brought pleasure to all in her company. Well done and keep it up.

Great guide , misleading advertisement
Jul. 2020 • Solo
Our tour guide was great, however it was poorly advertised. It appears to include St. Peter's Basilica, but it doesn't during the summer.

Pleased with our Guide, wish we hadn't gone to Rome in August !
Aug. 2019
We had a great time with our tour guide. It was great to have such a small group and the ear pieces that we got to use really helped us to be able to hear everything she was saying. What was so tough was that we accidently went to Italy in August, THEIR BUSIEST MONTH OF THE YEAR !! I felt pity for those who had groups of 30-40 people, glad we spent the extra $$ on the smaller group, I highly recommend that!

One of the best tours anywhere
Aug. 2019
The investment in this tour paid out tenfold. We met at the steps outside the Vatican Museum, there were a few hundred people all in different groups waiting to go in. We went in, we were among the first two groups, we did a bit of a walk through part of the Museums, saw some of the gardens, and then it was straight to the Sistine Chapel. It is awe inspiring, and there would be no more than 30-40 people in the chapel with you, so tons of room to move around and there are some seats around the edge to help with your neck. Then it was on to the Basilica - we walked around the front so you get good views over St Peter's Square. We had a good tour around the Basilica and down into the crypt to see some of the popes, and the foundations of the older church. Finally we finished up right at a special entrance to go up to the cupola. You need to buy a separate ticket for this, but it was cool. The cupola walk is a ton of stairs, even when you buy the lift ticket so keep that in mind, very claustrophobic and the feeling of intense height so be wary. I wouldn't choose to do it again. but I suppose I'm glad I didn't have a chance to think about it first.

Excellent Tour Guide
We had a wonderful visit to the Vatican with our tour guide Stefania who provided an insightful and interesting guide to the Museums, St Peters and the Sistine Chapel taking us effortlessly through the crowds
I would recommend the early start as there were no queues allowing us to take time enjoying the tour.

Great tour with no crowds
Jan. 2020 • Couples
Our tour with Dorianne was perfect. The meeting place was easy to find, there were no queues and no crowds. We learnt so much. Dorianne explained everything very well and we had plenty of time to take photos, wander through the museums, Sistine chapel and St Peter's Basilica. At the end of the tour we had the option of going into the catacombs or climbing the steps to the dome. We did both and spent another hour exploring. Would recommended this tour.

Quickest skip the line tour
Dec. 2019 • Couples
The tour starts early in the morning which is a bit of a bummer until you see the lines of people waiting. You skip right past long lines and enter the museum. This was a small tour group of 10 including us. We got uninterrupted access to famous pieces of art until about 10. There were several large groups in the area after 10 and things got a bit hectic. Our tour guide from city wonders tour was amazing and navigated us to vantage points each time. Would certainly recommend this tour.
