About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Kate H0 contributionsYoung kids, parents & grandparents loved it!Our 5 & 6 year old had the best time with our guide Paola. She was the best tour guide and the kids and adults learned so much. She is an expert in history and very engaging with the kids. She brought fun games to keep them interested in the art and architecture we saw. My father, husband and I loved it too. We went on this tour in July of 2022 so it was very hot but well worth it especially to share with our kids. One side note is that young kids do not have to wear pants.Written January 11, 2023
- Charles M0 contributionsWish we’d of had better communication. We booked late at night for the next morning then got a confirmation from Trip Advisor that the booking was confirmed. The next morning we showed up and looked for our guide for 30min. They never showed. The phone number on the event went straight to voicemail so I had to do some digging to try to find a contact for the tour company. After finally calling the right number, I get a text saying there is no tour that day because I booked too late. Really would think the company would let us know instead of just hoping Trip Advisor communicated it - which they didn’t. I was shocked at how difficult it was to get ahold of this company. The good news is that this company is refunding us and we found a great local guide for the same locations for only $45/person.Written December 30, 2022
- Michael W0 contributionsTivoli-A Wonderful Day Trip from RomeMy wife and I were in Rome for a week and decided after exploring the city, we wanted to take a trip to Tivoli. We hired a driver and wanted to see Hadrian's Palace and Villa d'Este. Tivoli is less than an hour drive east of Rome. It is located up in the hills and the climate is cooler. We were met at Hadrian's Palace by a local guide, who was friendly and knowledgeable. Hadrian's Palace is mostly ruins but, is worth seeing. Also, we were taken to Tivoli and shown the Villa d'Este. The Villa has beautiful gardens and fountains that are impressive. It was a wonderful day trip that you should consider doing when visiting Rome.Written June 2, 2020
- josephdtraveler0 contributionsDefinitely doA must do. This was wonderful and doing it is a possible half day. Fountain is amazing and make sure to go to the top. Might see a rainbow if the light is right. Nice plants etc around also. Make sure to prepare to be outside for the day. Can take small children here no problem. She really enjoyed it.Written March 8, 2020
- Stacey T0 contributionsAmazing TourOur tour was amazing, our tour guide is a local and very knowledgeable, just a short drive from rome. It was an unforgettable tour. Hadrians villa was an unbelievable piece of history with the highlight was the pool area still so many statues still remaining. From there we visited villa d'este. The villa itself is still in immaculate condition and very extravagant with gold and jewel crusted paintings. The gardens are unbelievable with all the foutains and beautifully preserved lawns. Truly a must see. With free time before returning to rome we had lunch in town square. Pizza and italian red wine very goodWritten January 4, 2020
- qsuzie10 contributionsTivoliBeautiful ancient estates just outside of Rome. Easy pace with plenty of time to enjoy the scenic views. I highly recommend this tour.Written December 30, 2019
- Phil H0 contributionsFantastic TourEverything was fantastic about this tour. We had the world Champion tour guide from Tivoli, Giuseppe (Joseph) and he made our day unforgettable. He entertained us all day. Hadrians Villa was great, Giuseppe showed us pictures from his magic book of how the places looked now and how they would have looked around Hadrians time. From the villa, we went to lunch at a lovely restaurant in old Tivoli. We paid for lunch as part of the tour and it far exceeded our expectations. After lunch, we went to Villa D'Este. Unfortunately, because of electrical storms the night before, the fountains weren't running, but Giuseppes magic book soon bought the fountains back to life for us. We had plenty of free time to wander arounf=d the villa and local shops and then we loaded up for the trip back to roma. We booked out trip thru Viator and the tour was run by Nicom Tours. No complaints whatsoever. Fantastico.Written November 17, 2019

- juniord20060 contributionsVisit to Hadrian VillaWent to see tremendous site that was quite a walking tour in the heat. The site has incredible history and is well worth the excursion. A guide is necessary to explain all its history. Really recommendedWritten August 29, 2019
- 1stglobetrotter0 contributionsWater, water everywhereTook the tour to Hadrian’s (Adriana) villa followed by a trip to Villa D’Este (Tivoli Gardens) in all honesty my time would have been better spent at Villa D’Este since it is a living space whereas Hadrin’s Villa is nothing more that an archaeological site. Villa D’este Is a UNESCO world heritage site and deservedly so. It has around 100 fountains of different size and designs and the gardens and terracing are a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture.I would willingly have foregone the trip to Hadrian’s Villa in favour of spending more time at Villa D’Este as it was we spent nearly 2 hours at Hadrian’s Villa and only 90 minutes at Villa D’Este, which I recommend unreservedly.Written August 6, 2019
- Helen B0 contributionsWhat an excellent tour!!!This was a whole day away. We went on a Sunday, when a large number of the things we wanted to see in Rome were closed. Our guide was excellent. Her knowledge of the Villa D'Este was second to nine, and then on to Hadrian's Villa after lunch. This tour group were very professional, would highly recommend this tour, if you really are interested in the Roman Empire, the history of the Cardinal class of the Roman Catholic Church. We are not Christian, but we loved this!!Written July 25, 2019
- TPSBOB0 contributionsA lovely place away from the cityI travelled to visit Tivoli on a recent visit to Rome. There are a number of ways to get there and on this occasion we took the Cotrel bus from Tributina station on the Rome underground. The fare cost around £2.00 and took approximately 40 minutes. The Villa D'est is well sign posted from the bus stop in Tivoli and so getting lost won't be an issue. The entrance fee to Tivoli cost around 8 euros and is well worth it, although this attraction would not be suitable for people in wheelchairs or problems walking as there are many steps which at times can be steep. The gardens are set out over a hillside with approximately 150 fountains all of which are powered by natural pressure by the water which collects higher up in the hills. If you are looking for a much cooler temperature along with lovely shady walks and fountains then there is no better place in my opinion. There are ponds containing large fish and beautiful places to take pictures of the surrounding countryside far below the gardens towards Rome. Although most of the fountains are in operation, some have been switched off for maintenance and cleaning but this does not detract from the many others on show. The climb back to the top although relatively steep is okay if taken at a slow pace, although those of us who are getting on in years or unfit may take a little longer. There are toilets available at the exit which leads you out into a large piazza where market stalls are held. If visiting, I would allow about 2 hours in order to fully appreciate the wonderful scenery which I am sure you will be amazed at.Written July 15, 2019
- 958JoanneB0 contributionsAwesome- even better than I expected! Our guide- Giuseppe (Joseph) was knowledgeable, polite, thoughtful, funny, very proud of his home town. He paced us perfectly and recommended a wonderful trattoria for lunch- much cheaper than the tour that includes lunch. I had seen the gardens on Netflix’s Italian Gardens show but this was so much better than I hoped for- and I had high expectations!Written July 2, 2019
- floydestrada0 contributionsAmazing day trip from Rome!Beautiful gardens and villa that is a quick trip from Rome. One the best day trips from the hot city in the summer. Plan to get there early and leisurely stroll in the gardens. The vistas, mountains, and water features are tranquil. A must see!Written June 25, 2019
