Loved the Climb, Not Getting There
We arrived in Pompeii 2/16 and I immediately attempted to buy Cone of Vesuvius (that's why we went there!) tickets at vivatickets.com. We didn't buy ahead of time as you need to specify the day and time you want to go and you don't always know, especially if it's your first time in Italy. And we read that the ONLY way to get tickets was online, thru them, and that they weren't available "at the moment" at the vivaticket sales points, or on the mountain. It appeared that each day we were there was wide open, too. I couldn't do it through my husband's "account" that he set up: it requests your phone # and then you have to request that they verify your # before you can make the purchase. So I did, but nothing happened, and doing it multiple times in one day got an error message that I exceeded my attempts. I cancelled his account and set up my own and did it again. Again nothing happened when I requested phone # verification. This went on for 3 days (but we did briefly go to the excavation site), using our laptop and our phones (!!) and our B&B host just said she was sorry we were having troubles. And, of course, the weather was gorgeous those 3 days! When we asked to extend our B&B stay one more day just in case we could get tickets, she suggested a tourist office on Via Roma. We went there the next day and the man there told us to go to the place across the street, where we were able to get the last two tickets on the last bus of the day: they went online and got tickets from vivatickets, just like that! And we were able to park our car in a lot close by for 2 Euros! It is almost impossible to street park in Pompeii so we hadn't gone out to drive anywhere and look around, plus the street we were staying on, Via Nolana, is like a parking lot much of the time so we had been walking more than driving and didn't see much of the town. The bus ride was interesting, on winding roads, and when we got to the 1000 meter level, the driver just let us out and told us when to be back, no info or "Have a good time". The walk was all uphill and we had to stop multiple times (we're both 75) to let our legs rest (he walks about 10+ miles a week, I don't!) but we made it to the first (only?) crater in about an hour. Very exciting, but it was rainy so we didn't get the view of the Bay, but it wasn't very cold. Most of the rest went up higher but we don't know what was different up there and weren't able to find out as no one spoke on the bus, either, or even looked at us. Or likely spoke English. The walk down was much easier, of course. And I picked up a few souvenirs off the ground! We felt cheated bc we wasted so much trip time, sitting inside trying to get tickets. I emailed vivatickets about the issues, but got no response. Sadly, this just echoes other stories of difficulties/time wasted on what could be the trip of a lifetime!

          2 day weekend in Rome
Absolutely recommended! We completed the 2 day tour of Rome with Max and Levino (?). I cannot give enough praise for the professionalism of these two gentleman. Due to scheduling alterations because of the pope holding a sudden meeting, they changed our schedule and was able to allow us to see everything scheduled. We actually were able to see more than expected due to their recommendations and time allowed. Rates as one of the top weekends of my life. If your going to Rome, please don't do it alone and choose these guides. You won't regret it!

The best one day tour guide for Rome
We had only one day to spend in Rome and wanted to see all the major sites in that little time frame. The tour guide we had - Max Parini- made this one amazing tour of Rome. It was done with such ease. We never felt like we were in a crowd and never waited in a queue. His knowledge and expert ability of getting around Rome and knowing best times to see the major sites made our tour. His English is excellent and he knew practically everyone at the sites. Highly recommend!!

          Excellent tour!
Had a wonderful time seeing Rome with our tour guide, Marco. He was very informative, personable, and great sense of humor. It may not be possible to see all of Rome in a day, but you’re going to get your money’s worth on this tour! Highly recommend. Definitely a highlight of our vacation!

          An Education On Ancient Rome.
The Capitaline Museums, located on Capitaline Hill, lays claim to one of the finest collections of ancient sculpture in Rome. My DIY tour had me meandering through the museum's various buildings, 2 of which were designed by Michelangelo. Most of the buildings housed a 'major in' sculpture and a 'minor in' art galleries with collections closely linked to the ancient city of Rome. My favorite exhibit was the 'She Wolf' a major symbol of Rome. I browsed the gift shop chucked full of guidebooks and I did relish the Museum's rooftop restaurant with it's fine view over the city. A great option to explore the ancient city of Rome.

BEST TOUR EVER!!! Thank you Max
It was a bitter sweet trip for me because it was our 50th wedding anniversary gift from our son, but my husband passed away in April....Max, the owner was aware and made our trip so special. He is the best tour guide we ever had. He's extremely personable, knowledgeable, kind and amusing. Also an excellent driver. We saw so much in a day, everything on our tour that was listed and then some. It was extremely hot but he went and got the car so we didn't have to walk in the heat. I would highly recommend Max and his company.

          Incredible Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia
My husband and I had planned an amazing Mediterranean cruise. However, we were disappointed with the Rome shore excursions offered through the cruise line since we would have had to choose between visiting the Colosseum or the Vatican. That dissatisfaction led to us looking for alternatives and we happened across Italy Rome Tours. We contacted them for more information and we decided to book a private tour. It was the best decision! The booking process was fast and the communication was great. When we arrived at the port, our driver was waiting for us with a beautiful Mercedes van. He talked about the history of the region as we drove into Rome. The first stop was a park that gave an amazing view of the city and the Vatican. We were able to visit the Pantheon, the Spanish steps, and Trevi fountain. We then headed to the Colosseum where a private tour guide was waiting to take us inside. We walked straight past all the lines and our tour guide described the history and myths of this amazing place. We then headed to the Vatican. Our private tour guide again walked us past the lines and highlighted pieces of art in the museums as we headed to the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. We then headed back to Civitavecchia where we stopped for gelato before arriving back at our ship. To be able to see all of these amazing sites in a single day from Civitavecchia with friendly and reliable guides... I simply can't express enough how incredible this day was. This tour was absolutely the highlight of our entire cruise. I am so glad we didn't settle with one of the shore excursions offered through the cruise lines. I would rebook with Italy Rome Tour in a heart beat if/when we return to Italy and I would not hesitate to refer a friend of family member to them.

Fantastic tour for our family of 5. Max is a knowledgable & fabulous tour guide. You can tell he loves what he does. We had such an incredible all day tour of Catacombs, Colosseum and Vatican. Our lunch spot was perfect as well! I would highly recommend any tour with Max.

          See everything in one day
Absolutely amazing and worth it. Max was our driver and guide. He was an endless fount of knowledge and extremely efficient and energetic guide for us all day. With this kind of tour, you can just relax knowing someone else has taken care of all the details and logistics. We saw catacombs, Coliseum, Vatican museums / St Peters basilica, and drove by circus maximus, overlooked the forum. Max knows all the best places to take the best photos or have the best views. Not a single minute spent standing in line. Everything was perfectly timed. He's been doing this for 23 years and it shows (in a good way). I would absolutely do it again this way, it was worth every penny.

          Palazzo Museum Colonna Tour
We had a private tour organised by our hotel of The Gallery, private apartments and gardens of the Palazzo. Our tour English tour guide was called Rebecca Harden and was without doubt the best guide we have ever encountered. She was so knowledgeable and passionate about the history of not only the paintings but the context of their importance in the history of Rome. A truly vivacious and inspiring tour would highly recommend her.

Highlight of Rome trip with Max
My parents, brother, sister and I went on the Supreme Rome Tour with Max as our guide. I've been on a lot our good tours with excellent tour guides but Max is definitely they best best that I have encountered. He arrived at our place early and greeted us like old friends! We started at the Vatican museums and Max surprised us with breakfast at the Vatican, which was not included in the tour we booked. It was a great start to the tour and gave us time to get to know each other. Max went above and beyond with my 80 year old parents. Never rushing us and always there to help them out. Max's knowledge of all things Rome was very impressive and he seemed to know everyone we encountered along the way. Each stop was loaded with great information about each place. We ended the 10 hour tour at the Colosseum, with another informative visit before he returned us our apartment. Max also gave us some great restaurant and gelato suggestions, that turned out to be our best meals of the trip! Max truely loves what he does and goes out of his way to share his city with you. Please don't hesitate in booking Max and his company, you will not be disappointed!!

Max Parini of Italy Rome Tours Exclusive Guided Tours was an absolute pro! He took care of EVERYTHING, from procuring tickets to driving us to knowing exactly where to stand for optimum views to getting us VIP access to sharing information to educate and engage us. Throughout the day, he was figuring out what most interested us and modifying our tour to fit us. This was a dream-come-true day in ROME. I can’t imagine standing in long lines because we just didn’t do that at all. We got celebrity access without the annoyance of paparazzi. Our little group of four had the absolute best day with Max! It was worth every penny!!!
