Overview

The birthplace of Parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, and Ferrari, the Emilia-Romagna region offers travelers soul-satisfying food and thrills. With this tour, get good value for time and money by packing in the area’s most popular activities in one day. Skip generic sightseeing for visits to artisan food makers, do three food and wine tastings, have a multi-course meal, and opt to take a test drive at the Ferrari Museum.

What to Expect

After pickup from select hotels and locations in central Bologna, an air-conditioned minibus takes you out of the city. Make your first stop at a Emilia-Romagna cheesemaker to hear how Parmigiano-Reggiano is made and sample some of the tangy cheese.

Step back in the van and continue to Modena, the capital of balsamic vinegar. Learn about “black gold” vinegar and the local vinegar-making traditions. Then, head to a prosciutto factory to sample the cured ham to uncover the secrets of its curing process.

The next stop is the Ferrari Museum (Museo Ferrari) for a guided tour, with priority admission. Opt to test drive a Ferrari at your own expense if you like.

After a multi-course lunch at a family-run restaurant (see Itinerary for a sample menu), your transportation drops you off at select Bologna locations.
