Overview
This full-day tour is ideal for travelers who want a panoramic overview of the Val d’Orcia region. Pack in visits to three charming villages while wine tasting, sightseeing, and shopping for cheese and wine along the way. Spend at least an hour of free time at each location to explore independently. Plus, you’ll taste two of Italy’s most noble wines, Brunello di Montalcino and Nobile di Montepulciano, at the source.
What to Expect
Spend a day exploring the agricultural valley of Val d’Orcia, a Unesco World Heritage site of golden plains, rolling hills, and unparalleled gastronomy. Experience the art, landscapes, food, and history with a guide.

Your tour begins with pickup at Stazione Leopolda in Florence, where you meet your guide and hop on a coach or minivan for the roughly 1.5-hour journey to Montalcino. Upon arrival, sample wine and snacks in a local winery. Afterward, your guide takes you on a short walking tour of the town.

The next stop is Pienza, where you learn about the local cuisine and spend some free time exploring on your own. The town is famous for its pecorino cheese—Parmigiano's saltier cousin— and the church, papal palace, and town hall built by Pope Pius II in 1459. You’ll have plenty of time to snap photos of the romantic little town.

Head toward the medieval town of Montepulciano, most famous for its Vino Nobile. Your guide tells you how the wine has become a symbol of the town and takes you a local winery to sample it.

Then, hop back on the coach or minivan for the journey back to Florence.
