    What to Expect
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Mount Titlis, Poststrasse 3 Talstation, Engelberg 6390 Switzerland

Begin your tour by meeting your guide at the hotel and make your way together to the train station in Basel. An intercity train will take you within 50 minutes to Lucern, where you will have to change on a local train.  After 45 minutes of travel time, you will arrive at Engelberg, a small village at the end of the valley, known from winter tourism industry. Your tourguide will lead you to the gondola station, which is 10 mins away from the train.

To climb uphill, you will board firs a 6-seat gondola, which will take you through 2 sections within 20 minutes to the middle station "Stand". You will glide above meadows, trees and rocks on a silence and beautiful landscape.

At "Stand" you will change onto the rotating gondola, which takes you to your final destination within 5 minutes. During the journey, the gondola rotates by 360 degrees to ensure a fantastic aerial view.

Once arrived on top, your touguide will suggest you to start the sightseeing tour by visiting the terraces, where there is all year snow on 9980ft above sea level. Enjoy the fantastical aerial view to the surrounding mountains and glaciers. After the terraces, you will visit the highest suspension bridge in Europe. Cross the 100 meter long bridge, which is 1640ft off the ground. On the other side, the entrance to the ice vace will await you, a tunnel system in the middle of the glacier.

You will return to the main building and take the opportunity to have lunch in the panoramic restaurant. Enjoy local dishes, while you're looking at the surrounding mountains. After lunch it's up to you, if you would like to enjoy the silence on the terraces or you prefer to have same action in the snow: a seating chair lift will take you the the snow park, where you have different options to enjoy the snow.

Whenever you have seen all the attractions, your tourguide will lead you back on the same way via Engelberg back to Basel, where the tour will end.

    Great trip
The first part of the ascent of the Stanserhorn is by funicular and it is possible to travel in the very front or rear compartment where you get the most wonderful views. Then you transfer on to the unique "cabrio" cable car, where you can stand on the upper outside deck, where you really feel at one with the elements as you gently ascend to the top of the mountain. Once at the top there are the most amazing views of Lake Luzern and the nearby mountain ranges. Of course there is the risk that you ascend into the cloud in which case you can't see a thing! If you like walking there are also loads of walks in the area. whilst at the top there is a lovely cafe and restaurant. Best of all if you have a Swiss Pass then the journey is free.

    Always our favorite place
Breathtaking views. We always make it a point to visit Zermatt when in Switzerland. My husband’s favorite place. No cars, always a plus.

    Expensive tourist trap
They took a naturally gorgeous place and turned it into a shopping mall/food court, AND charge a fortune, to boot.. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. The 40 minute train ride to the top is not scenic at all since it is through a tunnel. Once you arrive, you are among throngs of tourists snapping selfies and smoking (only on train platform, but pretty suffocating if you need to wait longer than a few minutes) and then if you want to actually get outside and enjoy the beauty of the mountains you've come up to see, you must wend your way through crowds and flights of stairs and stores to get there. Horrible experience. Shame on them.

    Excellent guide
We had signed up for the small group tour and were lucky enough to have a private tour because we were the only ones. Our guide, Oskar, was phenomenal. He was a wealth of knowledge and we highly recommend him. He gave us insight into life on a local level and we compared it to how it is in the US. Very pleasant experience.

    Personalised Tour
No issues here so have no concerns that you might be left stranded or that your guide doesn't speak your language or that the tour is somehow altered or changed. However at the price my partner and I were surprised at lack of basic historical facts so check the resume of guide if you are a stickler for detailed knowledge of experiences in this tour.

Very nice and easy trip from Basel by train
We met our travel guide at the main train station in Basel in the main lobby by the post with arrows (none as main meeting place). Easy trip by train to Lacern. A short boat trip on the lake and then a nice narrow gauge train ride up the mountains very nice scenery. Then back to Basel by train. All bus and street cars in Basel make stops at the main train station, so it is easy to travel to that location.

Mountain was great, guide was pretty good
The boat to cog railway to mountain was fine. A good alternative to the hiking we had been doing, and the mountain is lovely as long as you expect to be in a resort area at the top. You can get away from the crowd by walking a bit, which we did and it was very rewarding. Our guide was decent, nice fellow, and spoke excellent English. He gave us some tidbits on the boat re: mountain and local culture but he also didn’t know the answer to some of our questions and was not much help about where to eat in Lucerne or what else to do.

    What a climb
Great way to see the mountains and get closer to the Matterhorn. You can spend as much time as you desire up there. Could be an hour stay to take in the scenery or much more if you enjoy hiking and walking as there are plenty of trails. Stop at the second to last stop from the top and hike into the two lakes to get great views of the Matterhorn.

poor crowd control at top station
Myself and three friends enjoyed the scenery but when it was time to descend there was a problem with the trains. Consequently people started to panic they could not get down and crushed onto the small trains that came late and departed out of order. People were all over the tracks, I was pushed against the metal steps bruising my shins, I thought I would be trampled. It was very scary, I really expected better safety from Switzerland, it was very expensive for amateurish procedures. I hope there is not a serious accident, I don't blame the man who pushed me, I find the management systems put people at risk. I will not risk it again.

    Breathtaking 360 degrees of views
Mount Stanserhorn was beautiful and a must-see if you are in Luzerne. You ride in a small train on the gentle part of the accent. You are surrounded by farm houses, cows and open pastures. At a higher elevation, you switch to a gondola where you can stand outside in the open air or sit inside the glass enclosed area. Once we reached the top, we surrounded by clouds and the visibility was zero. After 15 minutes, the clouds began to break revealing an amazing view on all sides - countryside with farms, lake views etc. Snow was still on the ground and we had a great time with snowball fights!! There is only a small gift shop and a restaurant at the top. The restaurant was pricey, but very good. There is a trail for hiking. When I come back to Luzern, I would like to hike this mountain!

    WOW what a trip
The train up towards Pilatus is amazing and very steep. It gives you a perspective on how and where people actually live! The mailman was with us this day, and he delivered mail and milk to a small farm om 1300 meters up. It was really amazing on the top too, with shops, restaurants and several hikes to chose almond. On the top we had lunch and suddenly we thought there was rain, but we did actually sit inside a cloud. I do not like heights so at one point I actually did cry a bit because I was so scared, but I do not regret the trip, and I would do it again. On our way down we did go gondola cable, one big for maybe 20 people and then a smaller one for 4 people. I will never forget about this trip and I that one day I will be able to take it once more.
