    What to Expect
Visit: Museum Het Rembrandthuis (Rembrandt House), Jodenbreestraat 4, 1011 NK Amsterdam The Netherlands

For twenty years the Netherlands’ greatest artist lived and worked in this impressive building in the heart of Amsterdam, now a museum. The Rembrandt House Museum gives visitors a complete Rembrandt experience. With a seventeenth-century inventory as a guide, the house has been meticulously refurbished with furniture, art and objects from that time. The museum has an almost complete collection of Rembrandt etchings and stages inspiring exhibitions about Rembrandt, his predecessors, contemporaries and pupils. Come and meet him in his own home!
Rembrandt was at the height of his fame when he moved into this house with his beloved Saskia Uylenburgh. He mixed in the highest circles and was awarded the most prestigious commissions by merchants, patricians and clergymen. It was a turbulent time in the house, where bad times followed good in quick succession. The Night Watch was painted in the house.
Included in your ticket is the entrance to the museum and exhibition rooms, a free audio guide in 10 languages and free daily demonstrations/workshops.

Really interesting to learn about his life story in the authentic house. Also means there is no need to be bored to death visiting his art in a gallery! This style of painting leaves ne cold, but his life story is colourful and worth 90...More

We got there and purchased the tickets for 28 Euros., I find it too expensive for what it is. When you get in you have to leave everything in a locker, the instruction weren't so good either. Rembrandt lived here 19 years, this house from...More

We almost didn't go here, but it was nearby and sounded possibly interesting. It was. Nicely preserved/restored original mansion. Some nice non-art things from Rembrandt's personal items when he went bankrupt. Interesting and engaging staff, including someone who explained, with props, how they made paint...More

This restored home is well worth the visit. It provided a peek into the living quarters and quality of life of an accomplished artist. There are lots of narrow stairs but it’s managed well. We used a private guide to supplement the museum staff. Everyone...More

This is Rembrandt's house converted into a museum. It has very very few of his paintings .. but its a good place to visit to see the houses or that era. Be ready to climb steep steps for three floors to visit this place.

I don't think there is a problem with getting in if you just turn up. You can buy tickets online but they don't give you any specific time during the day that you have to be there. You can just come whenever you have time... More
