Sadhana is the Sanskrit word for dedicated spiritual practice. In the Iyengar school of yoga, spiritual practice starts with the body. When we are new to yoga (and even when we are advanced practitioners), it is difficult to relate to instructions such as ’empty your thoughts,’ or ‘relax your fascia’, but we certainly know what ‘press the right foot down’ means. At Sadhana Amsterdam we teach Iyengar yoga, which stands on the axes of precision, alignment, extension, and stability. We give clear, concise instructions that will help you gain a greater awareness of your body and what it tends to do when you don’t pay attention. We teach classes at level 1 (beginners), level 2 (for people with around 1 year of Iyengar yoga experience), and restorative. The classes are suitable for anyone who is not badly injured or pregnant.
