We met early in the day for about 15 minutes in advance. The meeting point was easy to reach by local train service. During the wait, it became very crowded. There were several vans to pick up each tour group so make sure you are attentive to the name called in the reservation. We drove about 40 minutes to the first city (Cascais) - it's very charming. If you didn't have time for breakfast before the tour, there are restaurants and bakeries nearby that you can visit. I suggest getting a small snack to go so that you can spend more time enjoying the area or shopping. We spent about 45 minutes in Cascais near the water, saw an old ruin, and visited a couple of stores. From there, you make a couple more coastal stops to stretch your legs. The ocean views are magnificent and with great photo opportunities. We stopped for lunch before reaching Sintra (and so did a lot of other tour groups). The restaurant wait was beyond average and after 45 minutes with only a glass of water served, our family left. The tour guide took us to Sintra where there were plenty of shopping and food opportunities. In retrospect, I would have preferred to visit Sintra and explore rather than stop at the restaurant where we were taken. The visit to the castle itself was quite nice. Getting to the castle is an incline and takes about 15 minutes on foot, or you may ride a van for a small fee. I recommend you take the van up and walk down. No interior photos were allowed in the castle but the architecture and views from atop are phenomenal. Overall, it was a great tour, but the lunch arrangements need improvement.

We did this tour with Nuno and had a great time. The settings were obviously great on their own and Nuno really helped us enjoy and make the most of our time out in Sintra and Cascais.

Despite some heavy traffic slowing us down at times, Nuno was able to keep us entertained and interested with his knowledge of pretty much every inch of land between Lisbon and Sintra; the traffic delays didn’t interfere with our experience and Nuno made sure we got adequate time to enjoy every part of our itinerary. He was super knowledgeable of the Sintra grounds in particular and clearly was excited and happy to be there.

Amazing trip! George was very knowledgeable and gave us all the history of Sintra, Cabo do Roca and Cascais. We were given enough time to explore all the places. Tickets to Sintra palace is included in the price. I don’t think you need a guide to explore the inside of the palace. Personally we preferred exploring it ourselves. Plus groups with guides just held up a lot of people and couldn’t really enjoy or see much of the rooms as they were all blocking the views.

Lunch was at a traditional Portuguese restaurant in Sintra but I think we should have been given the option if we wanted to dine there or not, especially if you have picky eaters or dietary requirements like us.

Tour was in both French and English, which made it hard to ask questions, because the guide was constantly flipping between languages to give his speech twice for each highlight. Too much time spent in shopping districts -- one that wasn't open yet (too early in the day) and one that was overrun with tourists. This "tour" isn't really much more than a narrated van ride where you pay for your own lunch, and get entrance to the castle. The castle is cool, but there have to be better options than this van ride. The lunch spot was tasty but overpriced. We had many, many meals throughout Portugal for less than half the price.

We were so glad that we booked this tour as it was an easy way to see other sights outside of Lisbon that would have been cumbersome and aggravating to get to on our own. Our guide was a pleasant and informative man. The reason I am giving this tour three stars is because in the town of Sintra ,which was one of the most charming places I have seen,..... filled with adorable cafes and bakeries we were taken to a formal, overpriced and family run restaurant where we were seated with the other family on our tour who spoke French and did not speak English. We were all encouraged to order three course meals that took a long time to be served and honestly were not tasty and were overpriced. That lunch took up over an hour of our day and most importantly took time away that we could have had exploring Sintra. When we got to the town of Sintra just 5 minutes down the road we only had an hour to see the whole town which was not enough. Why would you now ask the tour group for their preference as to what they would like to do? I could imagine that most people would have opted to eat on their own at one of the dozens of restaurants in Sintra. All of us are on the tour to see Portugal not to sit in a family run restaurant on the outskirts of the main attraction. When we saw how lovely Sintra was my husband and I could not stop talking about how we wish we had more time there. We had already booked their other popular tour to Nazare,Obidos and Fatima so I called the company afterwards and requested that we be given free time during the time for our lunch and explore. I was so glad that I had that conversation as we really enjoyed our lunch in Nazare. We found a little cafe right on the water where we had $2 euro local beers and Sangria, a great fish sandwich for $4 Euro and then treated ourselves to an amazing gelato place down the street. It was fast and informal and we had plenty of time to walk around and actually see Nazare. The usual restaurant that they take groups to wasn't on the water and had very formal meals. I am not suggesting that isn't appealing to some folks but when I travel I am there to see the local sights and take in the culture of the place. It was uncomfortable I am sure for all of us to be sat with other tourists at the same table who do not speak the same language. I speak zero French and felt so badly for the nice couple who was trying to struggle through making conversation in English. It was also noted that our guide chose not to sit with us so we were on our own to try to make conversation with each other for over an hour. The cod fish pastry had bones in it and the meat was so tough it was hard to cut. We also had a fish soup that based on the smell I opted to not even try.

Dear Wendy, First of all thank you for your feedback and our apologies for this situation. Usually we give 1h30 free in Sintra to visit the village and to have lunch. Sometimes the guides can recommend a restaurant where it's possible all the customers join a meal. We're sorry to know that it didn't correspond to the expectations even though the lunch is not included on the tour. We hope that you had enjoy all the other places we visit along the tour and at least we're happy to know that your tour to Fátima and Obidos run in a different way.  Once again we do apologize for the situation. Kind regards,

Very nice way to spend a day! The Sintra palace was very cool to walk through and see all the antique pieces that are still there. Both stops in the towns of Sintra and Cascais were nice with just the right amount of time to see everything you need to see. Would definitely recommend the tour! Our guide was also extremely wonderful and made the tour that much better! There was one issue that we encountered that was out of the control of the tour but the tour operator handled it promptly and to my satisfaction so I am very happy with that also.

This trip was incredible and informative, I would definitely recommend if you are spending a few days in Lisbon!
A special thank you to our guide Pedro Dos Santos, who was so informative during the entirety of the excursion.

Pedro took us to Pena Palace and gave us plenty of facts and history about the palace before dropping us off at the gate. After a self visit, we met him again and took us around the palace and chapel.
We then got dropped off in Sintra for lunch - with amazing recommendations from the guide!
After a quick stop in Cabo de Roca, we ended the day with Cascais. We would have loved to spend more time there, but we still had a great time and it was the perfect way to end the day.

I would definitely recommend this excursion as it gives the opportunity to visit Portugal outside of Lisbon, and the fact we were separated in smaller groups for the visits was great.

Well timed trip, plenty to get through the agenda and not feel rushed. Alexandre had a wealth of information, answered very question, and was fun to be with for the day. He was a natural storyteller and we appreciated it! Highly recommend this if you want to see places outside of Lisbon city on the ocean.
