Delicious and memorable taste of Athens!
Our Athens food tour with Jason has been a highlight of our 2 weeks in Greece so far. We went to many different local spots and restaurants and tasted souvlaki/gyros, baklava and the traditional orange cake, coffees, honeys, nuts and dried fruits, olive oils, bougatsa (savory pies), and delicacies such as smoked eggplant, fava dip, sardine dolmades, cured anchovies, loukmades, local wines and more! Jason was knowledgeable and personable and we enjoyed wandering the Plaka neighborhood and flea market with him on our tasting journey.

Private Tour booked via Greece insider with Athens insider
This was part of our tour which Greece Insider, planned whole tour of Greece which included Santorini, Create and Athens area. We were lucky to have SBC's Yanus, The Hog, as our private driver. He had previously taken us to Delphi for the Delphi tour. If you have an opportunity asked for Yanus as your driver. We started out and first stop as Corinth canal which we saw, next stop was Mycenae with George, our guide. George was very informative in laying out history, philosophy and conjecture fo the area - he may or may not be to your appreciation. Mycenae, itself is more ruins than rebuilt area. Its was prominent in Greek history from 1600-1300 BC afterwhich there was a decline. The famous Lion Gate at Mycenae site as well as the proposed Agamenon tomb are two of the visited sites. Unfortunately the tomb was vandalized long time ago so they cannot state it was Agamenon or not. The Mycenae "Acropolis" site was also destroyed so much of the buildings are only scattered ruins. The museum itself has some artifacts and replicas - one being the "Agamenon" gold mask - original is in Athens. The Corinth canal is marvel of engineering 1860's. Yanus, also stopped at THE SILO which is an artist studio and shop with many interesting items from Icons, to Greek pottery, Jewelry, and food. The prices vary from expensive - Icons are very good to Authentic Reproduction of pottery. Last stop was winery at which we tasted wine and had lunch.

Family visit to Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center
In Athens, Greece, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is a shining example of cultural enrichment, providing a wide range of activities for both visitors and families. Our family is dedicated to encouraging cultural interaction, and we have found the SNFCC to be a great resource for our neighbourhood. There is something for everyone at the SNFCC, from its breathtaking architecture to its wide range of programming. The large green area that envelops the centre offers a pleasant diversion from the busy metropolis, ideal for outdoor events like picnics. Our comprehension of literature, music, and the arts is enhanced by the cultural events held at the centre, which include educational workshops, concerts, and exhibitions. Furthermore, the SNFCC's dedication to accessibility guarantees that everyone in the community, regardless of background or socioeconomic status, can participate in cultural experiences. Families who might not otherwise be able to afford such opportunities can access cultural enrichment absolutely for free. We considered the SNFCC to be the high point of our trip as tourists in Athens. Its proximity to other important sites makes it an easy stop for travellers, and its coastal location affords stunning views of the ocean. The centre's cultural offerings improve our overall perception of Athens as a cultural destination by offering a distinctive look into Greek art and heritage.

      Athens Walking Food Tour
Klea was the most amazing knowledge guide! We were able to experience so many different offerings even on a Sunday in Athens. From our beginning at a local coffee shop with coffee and sweet treats to our conclusion at a neighborhood wine and cheese shop we learned more and more at every stop about what to shop for and how to order the perfect Authentic Greek food and drinks. We so enjoyed our guide Klea’s stories and humor! Four hours flew by! I would highly suggest a tour! Five Stars!!!

      Brilliant tour !!
It was certainly dramatic given the rain on Wednesday/ Thursday but Komissa was a complete professional. We were very grateful to her for going the extra mile for us, her knowledge and passion for Greece, and it’s history was evident. We loved her ability to share this with us. The tour was brilliant.

      Exceptional
Thanks to our incredibly knowledgeable guide Stelios, we immersed ourselves in a series of culinary experiences, set throughout Athens as a backdrop, which proved to be absolutely delightful. This provided us with various opportunities to experience the city in the yummiest of ways! Learning not just about architecture, but about the people, their food and customs. Thanks team!

      Amazing Greek food tour
Having just done a group tour in Reykjavik that was excellent, I was prepared to be underwhelmed with this one but to my surprise, it was amazing! Mostly because our guide Era was wonderful. She was personable and very knowledgeable about the area and the food. She easily answered all of our questions and led us to several small, family-owned shops with different types of food. She also took us to the local market to see how most local folks got their groceries. We sampled lots of different food, learned about the various types of olive oil, and traveled down many beautiful small walkways among other things. As an added bonus her English was very clear and easy to understand. Just be ready to walk on cobblestones and climb steps.

      Perfect Introduction to Athens
Yiannis our guide was fabulous. Felt like we were walking with friend showing us his home town. Perfect mix of history, culture and of course food. Highly recommend. This was a flawless company to work with and I was very nervous as I planned the trip last minute. We were tow people, Tow to three is a good number for the tour. Lots of walking which for us was great. We worked off some of the delicious food.

Great activity for first day in Greece!
Vicky took us (mom/18 yo daughter) on a walking food tasting tour of Athens. It was a great first introduction to Greece at the beginning of our 2 week trip. Some of the best food we had the entire trips was on the tour with Vicky. We combined our food tasting tour with a tour of the Acropolis and she knew a lot about history, mythology, and travel throughout Greece as well. Vicky provided us with a lot of tips that were helpful throughout the rest of our trip. Hanging out with Vicky in Athens was one of the highlights of our trip.

      Best guide ever!
Giota provided my family the best tour of the Acropolis and a food tour. She made Greek history come alive to even those in the family that don’t love history :). She was a pleasure to spend the day with and we felt like we had a new family member! And i think she acquired a new little brother :) Thank you so much Giota!!

A wonderful tour of the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum
Our family (two adults, two teens and one grandparent) had a fantastic tour with Antigone. She met us at our hotel and walked us to the Acropolis. The tour was perfectly paced for our family. Antigone was knowledgeable and thoughtful. We would highly recommend this tour.

      Wonderful customized tour
Athens Insiders was wonderful to work with. They customized what we wanted to do and made suggestions on how to best use our time. We were traveling with our 1 year old, so needed flexibility in our schedule to have downtime in the middle of the day. They accommodated everything we needed, including having our driver pick us up early from one site when the baby melted down. Our guide, Alex, was very knowledgeable and made our tour much more interesting than going alone. I would definitely use Athens Insiders again and highly recommend.

We were 3 couples and had an amazing time during our 4 hours private Acropolis tour. Our guide Mrs. Amarylis was extremely knowledgeable and shared her insiders with us, a great experience to visit Acropolis and the museum with her. We can recommend Athens Insiders, very professional experts and perfect organization.
They made our trip memorable, thanks.

Our guide, Sissi, was helpful in planning the visit, strongly (and rightly) suggesting we pre-booked an early time to avoid both the heat and the cruise ship crowds. She was a fount of knowledge about both the Parthenon and Ancient Greek history. Would highly recommend her as a guide.

Our tour guide Zakia gave a wonderful walking tour of the Acropolis and then a 3 stop food tour including the markets. We were picked up at our hotel and got a real glimpse of the city so that we were then comfortable exploring on our own another day. Zakia was knowledgeable and humorous. We enjoyed our 4 hours with her immensely.

My husband and I had been to the Acropolis, Temple of Zeus and the Agora a few years before but without a guide and we felt like we really didn't get the most out of the experience. So we returned this year and booked a private guided tour of the same 3 sites which was an amazing experience! Natalie dealt with our booking very professionally and nothing was too much trouble. Our guide, Aleks, was brilliant; he was incredibly knowledgeable and told us so much about each site that he really brought the history to life and we felt like we learnt so much. He was happy to answer any questions so we had a fantastic and very memorable day. I would highly recommend Athens Insider to anyone.

My wife and I and two of our children (ages 16 and 21) took a private tour of the Acropolis followed by a wonderful food tour of Athens. Our guide Giota was excellent — very knowledgeable, friendly and a great storyteller. Giota brought the Acropolis to life and set everything in context. We learned a lot and had fun. Giota rewarded us with great food and drink after our hike - including Greek coffee, dessert, meats and real feta, spinach pie and souvlaki (and a bit of wine and Tsikoudia - Greek liqueur) in several cool spots walkable from the Acropolis. Just great! I highly recommend the tour!

We are so grateful we were assigned as our tour guide Nota, a brilliant, young, engaging, friendly, extremely erudite archeologist who speaks English, French and of course Greek. Our heads are still spinning (in a positive way) from the amount of knowledge she imparted during our family’s private day tour of the Acropolis, it’s museum (could have spent a whole day there), the Agora, a walk through the Plaka and a quick but fun car ride in the city. Really, this woman knows so much about every period of Ancient Greece — it’s architecture; politics; culture; family life; gods; art, etc etc. The tour wasn’t inexpensive, but because of Nota it was well worth it.

We had an Athens Insider driver & guide for our full day tour. Both were very knowledgeable. Both knew how to 'hit the highlights, but keep us moving through the day. Also they arranged a beautiful lunch near the Acropolis with great food...

Nota, our tour guide for the Acropolis Beyond tour was knowledgeable, engaging and professional. Loved her passion for the Archaeological detail of this ancient and fascinating site. She entertained us as she made history come alive. She patiently discussed the Acropolis for these first time visitors to Athens. I would highly recommend asking for her especially as her background and education includes a degree in Archeology/art which makes her uniquely qualified to deliver and excellent experience.
