Once you're suited up and ready to face the Arctic elements, jump on a snowmobile (one vehicle per two adults) and head off in a convoy led by a guide who knows the area well. Zip through the archipelago on a series of forest trails and around the frozen Gulf of Finland, stopping to get epic views and hear detailed commentary on life (human and animal) in the islands. Take a longer break on one remote island for a barbecue lunch over the campfire, prepared in the traditional Lappish way, and warm beverages to keep the cold at bay. Opt to explore further with a snowshoeing or ice fishing activity, then head back to the snowmobile center, and end your tour with drop-off in Helsinki.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- yng20240 contributionsA Must! Worth Every PennyWe booked a tour for a team offsite and everyone had an amazing time. Kenny and Henrik were amazing guides and such fun company—would definitely do this again!Written March 27, 2024
- B139VFandyb0 contributionsBest day ever!Absolutely wonderful experience on the Helsinki archipelago snow mobile tour. Kenneth, Anders and Henrichs were so friendly, helpful, and full of knowledge and wonderful stories about this beautiful Country. Also, we can't thank Kenneth and Wifi the dog enough for welcoming us into their home life. If you want a fun experience that takes you to the most beautiful and peaceful place on this earth THEN DO THIS TRIP!!! Worth every penny.Written March 17, 2023
- Eric W0 contributionsAbsolute must-have on Finland travel itineraryWe booked the Snowmobile Tour + Igloo stay directly through the burn out city website. I would strongly recommend doing this, while you can. The archipelago area seems to be snowballing in its development, and it likely won't be long before this beautiful tour through a unique slice of nature is made impossible by condominiums and the like. Already, the fishing seems to be growing sparse, and the game more avoidant of the encroaching civilization. The snowmobile tour was a great time. Out in the wide open on the frozen shore of the Baltic sea, we saw historical sites in-between learning about the various adaptations necessary to make a place livable with such a drastic seasonal difference. I'm fairly certain that the igloo is the same as can be booked to stay further north, where it's possible to see the northern lights. Their website probably has the best explanation, but it's basically a climate-appropriate "tiny home", so if you're into that... As the only guests in the only igloo (for now?), when the rest of the snowmobile group departed, we were left with the owner of the business (and guide for the snowmobile Tour), Kenneth. While the other Burn Out City founders (Anders and Henrik) are friendly and accommodating enough to each deserve 5/5 stars in their own right, Kenneth Thelen absolutely breaks the scale. I have never met a more gracious host, and he will forever contend as one of the friendliest human beings that I have ever met. I count myself lucky to have had the opportunity to do so, and would encourage you to make what efforts you can to grant yourself such an opportunity.Written March 4, 2023

- 648CCKH0 contributionsGreat day!We had initially booked the Snowmobiling Safari but received an email from Anders to say that due to lack of snow (actually no snow as they were experiencing one of the warmest February's on record!), they would be delighted to offer us a day's touring and activities with Kenneth. I'm so pleased we decided to do it. From the moment Kenneth met us at the hotel, we knew we were in for a treat. He is an amazing man. We toured to Porvoo which is definitely worth a visit...then a trip on the boat around the archipelago. It was stunning. Kenneth then took us to his residence where we enjoyed some time in the sauna...and attempted a dip in the sea! To finish off a fabulous day, we were spoilt with a delicious dinner - freshly caught salmon, smoked in front of us.....washed down with some local tipple! I can honestly say, I'd return to Helsinki just to do another day's activity with Kenneth and the team - if you get the chance to do one of Burn Out City's activities, you should jump at the chance. Kiitos Kenneth!Written March 1, 2020
- mekama0 contributionsThe best event provider in Finland!!We had a perfect day and program at the sea with Burn Out City. The Finnish archipelago was beautiful as always and the places we visited were amazing including Rysäkari, Kajholm and Nybergs Varpet. Simply loved it!! The highest recommendation. Thanks for Kenneth and Acke.Written June 27, 2019
- princesssfiona0 contributionsBrilliant!I had THE best time! Highly recommend this tour - great vehicles, excellent guides, delicious lunch, the best views, ice fishing - everything you would expect. - BenW27180 contributionsSimply amazingWe contacted burn out city for advice on other experiences as the water wasn't frozen enough for a snow mobile tour. Their suggestion was the Nature Experience and this really didn't disappoint. We were the only 2 on the tour and the guides were very enthusiastic and friendly. They organised an ice breaking boat tour at no extra cost which was fantastic. The kick sled over the ice and ice fishing was relaxing as you enjoyed the silence of the surrounding islands. They showed us how to set up a fishing net in frozen waters and provided an excellent lunch. By far the best part was the survival suit floating. Best time is now as the ice is still thin and you can walk/run and just fall through. The private sauna is great and you have to jump into the water hole after an experience you'll never forget. The guides did everything for us from picking us up and dropping us back, taking photos and even vids from a drone which made this the best tour we did in Finland. A big thanks the Anders, Henrik and Ken.Written January 8, 2019
- Hasan A0 contributionsSnowmobile Tour March 2018We took a 3.5 hour Snowmobile tour. It was one of the best experiences. Both Henrik and Anders quickly responded to my emails and made the booking convenient. Henrik was very kind to pick us up from our hotel without any delays. Once the tour started all the guidelines were explained to us effectively. The tour itself was great. We drove snowmobiles for approximately 2 hours in the archipelago and a 30 minutes lunch and activity (kick sled and ice fishing) break. It was alot of fun. The crew was simply great!Written March 12, 2018
- Gregorio_Moya0 contributionsUnforgettable day!In the beginning I thought it was going to be a short bike ride but it was so much more. The guide who took us on route was a really experienced man and also very funny, we had a few stops along the way and he explained everything and it was great to share a bit of his knowledge. The bikes were really powerful but easy to drive and we did some others activities, even curling!! One of my best days in Finland so far :)Written February 26, 2018
- bsk917500 contributionsThis is a must if you go through Helsinki in winterI was not at all sure what to expect. However this turned out to be the best part of my trip to Helsinki. This was exactly what it was advertised as; a "safari" of a beautiful snow covered landscape. The staff (Kenneth, Hendrik & Anders) were excellent hosts, very friendly and attentive to all details. Explanations of where we were and what we were seeing. No worries for 1st time snowmobilers. BBQ lunch of local flavors with a firepit to warm up. Really Excellent!Written February 25, 2018
- trn0rman0 contributionsAmazing!!Can't recommend this experience enough! Kenneth and Anders were amazing guides, so welcoming and fun. So much more than just a snowmobiling experience. 5 stars is not a high enough rating! Thanks again and see you guys in Jersey.Written February 20, 2018

- MarkCheshire0 contributionsGreat tripWe really enjoyed our trip to the archipelago with Burnout. The people were all very friendly and helpful - making the snowmobile driving feel easy, safe and fun. The scenery was beautiful, even though it was a grey day. It was ineresting seeing the ice fishermen and having a go ourselves! Lunch was fine. Highly recommended.Written February 14, 2018
- Damian H0 contributionsAwesome snowmobile safari !!Well done team Burn Out City. My wife and I booked the snowmobile safari and love loved it. So well organised. Collected from our hotel, all kitted up with super warm gear, awesome snowmobile tour across the frozen archipelago. We took a chance and booked in advance for mid January for a birthday surprise (60th!) and it couldn’t have been better. Weather was perfect despite being -15 and we were given warm kit. We were made to feel like friends straight away. And had a real informative, fun adventure with a small group. There was no clock watching and we were entertained in Kenneth’s home. It couldn’t have been better ! Thanks guys.

Me and my two sons did this snow mobile safari. Everything was perfect. I had a few questions before hand they responded very quickly. Organisation was great.
Kenneth is quite a character - lovely and emotional unlike the stereotype. He just made the experience so much more enjoyable. He had great knowledge about the area and showed us beautiful landscape. My sons lived the snow mobiling , ice fishing and the drink Glöck. You could see the joy in their eyes. Lunch was great. If you are after proteins, you get a good overload. Just amazing

This was the highlight of our trip to Helsinki. Kenneth is a legend, his hospitality and charisma is second to none and learning about his lifetime achievements was incredible. Couldn’t recommend more! Great value for money and the snowmobiles were so much fun. The snowmobiles aren’t limited so good fun to (responsibly) tear around on. Definitely book this if you’re visiting helsinki

Definitely the best experience I've had! The guides are super friendly.
Anders picked us up and drove us out to Archipelago, where we met Kenneth. He are awesome at showing and tell about the beautiful, they have, and how they used to live. It was very informative and we got to meet some of the locals on the ice, to see how they catch fish under the ice.
In the lunch break we got a chance to fish ourselves through a hole, while Anders and Kenneth fixed lunch, which was typical Finish outdoor food, very delicious. There were no rush, we got to enjoy the outstanding view.
All in all, it's an amazing tour, outstanding scenery, lovely guides that makes it a unforgettable tour! 10 out of 10, would go again! You will never regret going, the guides make sure it is going to be an awesome day!

We booked this trip on our last day in Helsinki......wow...so glad we did! This was the best trip we've ever made! Kenneth and Arthur really made us feel welcome and told us a lot about the beautiful Archipelago. We ended with a good Finish lunch in Kenneth's house with beautiful view. Really recommend this trip and would book again when we come back to Finland.

Beautiful archipelago landscapes and fresh air a few kilometers away from Helsinki at your fingertips via a snowmobile tour on the frozen sea. I was also able to try kicksled, drill a hole in the ice and try my luck at net fishing, see locals have all kinds of winter fun (including driving a motorcycle and ATV on the frozen sea!). Kenneth and Henrik make you feel welcome and are great company!

What is the minimum age for this activity, I have 2 kids, one is 6 and one is 11, and how the kids will be riding on the snowmobile? Is it one adult and one kid per snowmobile? Thanks
Written March 10, 2023
Kids from 15 years onwards can ride a snowmobile. So on one snowmobile one adult and one kid. Another kid could ride with the guide. I would email them and ask. They are quite responsive.

Hi, You can book thru our website or Tripadvisor.
The Snowmobile tour calendar opens in January, but if there is enough snow before 12th of January we will open the calendar earlier.
It might be that we can start the season at new years this year, if the weather forecast is correct.
