Select Date and Travellers
2 travellers
Iceland’s south coast is known for its atmospheric landscapes, from towering glaciers to black-sand beaches, but ticking them all off in one day can be difficult. Explore this often-overlooked coastline on a tour of the most impressive sights, including the waterfalls Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss and the Sólheimajökull glacier. Travel between dispersed sights with ease and save time finding a meeting point with included hotel pickup and drop-off.
  • Travel easily between sights with hotel pickup and drop-off in Reykjavik
  • Explore the Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls and the black-sand beach Reynisfjara
  • A convenient choice for visitors with limited time in Iceland
  • Learn about unique geography and avoid the hassle of travel on a guided tour
What to Expect
Your day begins with collection from your Reykjavik hotel in air-conditioned bus. As you head south, admire the scenery and learn more about its geological origins from your guide. Pause briefly to enjoy a morning coffee (own expense) in Hvolsvöllur, before continuing to your first destination, the waterfall Skógafoss, to snap pictures of the fairy-tale setting. Next, head to Reynisfjara beach and experience the evocative beauty of the black sands and basalt cliffs before stopping for lunch (own expense) in Reynisfjara or the nearby village of Vík. The next stop is the most southerly point in Iceland, Cape Dyrhólaey. View the natural rock arch against the ocean backdrop and surrounding cliffs, before heading on to the Sólheimajökull glacier. Take a walk up close to the ancient ice cap and notice the sinkholes, ridges, and streams that form the landscape. Finally, visit the Seljalandsfoss waterfall and marvel at the magical setting, as the water cascades down to create a curtain that, if the weather is right, you can walk behind into a small cave to admire the striking vista. Afterwards, your vehicle will take you back to Reykjavik, dropping you back at your hotel.

Gummy Bear - great name for a great guide! He was full of humour and interesting facts all through the day. We hadn't plenty of time at all locations and he even stopped at a couple of extra beauty spots due to being a nice day. Also managed to arrive at the black beach...while

We loved the waterfalls, black beach and glacier but we had to run around to have time to go to the top of the waterfall and to take enough photo's at the glacier, mainly 30 minute stops. Our 10 hour tour took under 9 hours. We were disappointed that we did not see the natural

Dear Joanne, Thank you for submitting your review of the tour! We´re sorry that the tour did not live up to the expectations and that being said - we are willing to learn from your feedback! In regards to the visit in Vík - it is unfortunately not included in the Beautiful South Coast Tour that Sterna operates. We have decided to skip it on our winter Beautiful South Coast as - although nice - it is just a town, remains in some other´s companies itineraries purely as a lunch location and does not really allow for any extended sightseeing. Since the expansion of the Black Beach restaurant we have settled for having the lunch breaks there as this choice provides our passengers with additional time at the beautiful Reynisfjara beach and the restaurant accommodates for people no matter what their dietary preferences. In regards to the lack of break at the Dyrhólaey cliffs and stone arch - the weather in Iceland happens to be of the least predictable type and therefore on rare occasions our guides are forced to take a decision of removing a certain location. In the case of this particular tour the drive-up to the Dyrhólaey cliffs would have been particularly challenging due to slippery road that leads to the elevated promenade, so in order to ensure everyone´s safety our guide has decided to skip this stop from the journey. We will make sure to make the communication about each and every location more clear in the future and we hope that you will still remember Iceland with a smile!

My trip was with Maria and Voldemort as our guide and driver. They were extremely flexible with the tour, stopping or slowing down in places whenever it was photo-worthy. The day was quite packed and we got to see and hear about a lot of things! Maria does a good job making
