Overview
To be invited by Sámi people into their lavvu to eat a traditional meal and hear joiking (traditional Sámi song) is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This tour takes you to a reindeer camp outside of Tromsø where you meet the animals, feed them, then embark upon a sled ride. Afterward, you gather insider the lavvu for a delicious meal with enlightening conversation about the indigenous people of northern Norway.
What to Expect
At your preselected time, meet the rest of your group in downtown Tromsø. Board the coach and settle in for the journey out of Tromsø and into the Arctic countryside.

Upon arrival at the reindeer camp, meet your reindeer-herder guide and their animals. Take the opportunity to feed the reindeer under the guide's supervision. Afterward, board a sled pulled by reindeer and embark upon a thrilling ride across the snow.

Next, it's time to head inside the cozy lavvu (traditional Sámi temporary dwelling). Warm up with a hot drink as you hear stories about the culture of the indigenous Sámi people. Savor a delicious meal of bidos (traditional Sámi soup) and cake as your hosts introduce you to the joik (traditional Sámi form of song).

Afterward, return to Tromsø where your tour concludes with a drop-off back at the original departure point.

A “must do!”

Definitely worth it! Our hosts were all so friendly, helpful, and informative—I wish I could remember their names, but it doesn’t matter since they were all so nice. I definitely recommend the sled ride. Book the long ride ahead of time! Giitu!

Excellent and well organized Tour.

We had a lovely time during this tour. Short ride from town and then feeding over 200 reindeers! Very informative talk about the Sami people and their culture and sleigh ride rounded up the experience.
