We eventually got to Durham after cancellations due to train strikes which Ken was very accommodating about.
We met at The Market Square and as the weather was against us Ken tailored our 2 hour tour to try and keep us dry.
Very interesting history of the Market Square and surrounds and then an interesting route to the cathedral which is stunning, Kens knowledge of the building and history was insightful and fascinating. We then left through the cloisters and made our way to the river where we parted company.
The tour enhanced our visit no end and we recommend him wholeheartedly.

Ken gave our group a brilliant tour of Durham Cathedral and City centre. He tailored the content of the tour perfectly to the interests of our group and was full of interesting anecdotes to make the city come alive for us. I'd highly recommend him.

We did the City tour, plus an add on Cathedral tour with Ken on a rainy day in March. Ken is a walking encyclopedia, full of knowledge about Durham'spast and the many fascinating features of the city's mighty cathedral. Durham Cathedral is a Norman building constructed between 1093 and 1133 in the Romanesque style to house the shrine of St. Cuthbert. Given the persistent showers, we were glad we added the extra time in the cathedral as Ken's commentary brought the building to life. If you love history and want to get immersed in local lore, go with Ken! As an added bonus, take the 300 plus steps up the claustrophobic stairway to the cathedral tower - the clouds lifted for us and the views were magnificent...

Time went past so quickly, Ken is so engaging and informative, a real gem to get an insight into the area and its history. Blue badge holder too. I would 100% recommend this tour, you cannot get this from a book, so don't waste your time, start your adventure with the knowledge that makes everything else you see fall into place. Excellence absolutely. Thank you Ken!

Ken was an excellent tour guide. He really knows his stuff. He was also very flexible, going where we requested. It was a private tour, but this was unexpected and we didn't pay a private tour fee. Ken also changed the start time from 1630 to 0800 to accommodate our schedule. He was one of the best and most knowledgeable tour guides we have ever experienced

A very belated thank you to Ken for providing a really nice look at Durham and some of the local, lesser known history. I also really appreciate him accommodating the extreme heat to provide the walk. Please consider this walking tour if you go to Durham. Really nice walk full of history and conversation! A lot of walking tours seem like "productions" but this one was really nice. Will be bringing my Fiancé back in October for another tour with Ken. Despite the oppressive heat, we had a nice walk. You will end up in the Cathedral and Ken know this place in so much detail.

Hi Richard, Thanks so much for such a wonderful review. People do read these so are very important to me. I look forward to meeting you and your future wife In October. Maybe I could give you a different slant on Durham such as the Crime and Punishment tour that I am developing. Best wishes Ken

Ken communicated with me beforehand about a meet-up point so we didn’t lose any time with that. His tour, based on Durham history, was easy to understand with also some humor spiked in. We covered a good share of the central area on foot.

A wonderful two hours. Ken is exceptionally knowledgable and goes at a good pace, allowing for a lot of questions and history to be included from whatever angle takes your fancy. There is a beautiful part of the walk along the riverbank which made Durham really very special. Strongly recommend this tour.

Thanks so much , it was brilliant to meet you and to show you the medieval historic heart of Durham. If you ever want an extended tour of the North East do look me up.
