Explore the natural wonders of the Katherine Gorge on a full-day tour from Darwin. Visit a natural swimming hole at Edith Falls, take a boat cruise for a look at crocodiles and Aboriginal rock art on sandstone cliffs, pass through the historical gold rush town of Pine Creek, and tour Katherine by bus. Leave the navigation and long drive to the pros, and take in the sights with ease.
What to Expect

After early morning pickup at your Darwin hotel, travel inland for about three hours to Katherine Gorge, located in Nitmiluk National Park. Relax in the comfortable bus and stop briefly at Adelaide River War Cemetery, a burial place for World War II soldiers.

When you reach the park, cool off at crocodile-free Edith Falls (conditions permitting) and enjoy a picnic lunch. Next, take a 2-hour scenic cruise on the river that cuts through Katherine Gorge. Learn about the region’s geology and Aboriginal history, look for ancient Aboriginal rock art, and perhaps spot crocodiles, turtles, and colorful birds.

Then tour the township of Katherine by bus, hearing about the Northern Territory’s cattle and agricultural industries before heading back to Darwin via Pine Creek, an atmospheric gold mining town.

Make a short stop to purchase dinner in Adelaide River, then end your tour with drop-off at your Darwin hotel in the evening.

Have no doubt this is a long day, but if you are travelling outside of the main tourist season there is space on the coach so it is not so bad (plus pick up, drop off and stops (due to not so many people to...More

Good day, fairly new bus, with comfortable seats. Excellent driver/guide, highlight was the cruise. It was a long day. We had a very nice buffet lunch, maybe a hot drink and sandwich on the return trip instead of the cooked meal, would have enabled an...More
