- shehan000A smooth rideEasy booking process. Check-in, loading and boarding process also went very smoothly. Friendly staff and crew. The cafes in the terminals and onboard has a good variety of quick food (pies, pasties and coffee 😁). Enjoyed the ride, especially from the open deck area.
- Michelle C00Well organised and enjoyableHad a lovely long weekend away to Kangaroo Island. The ferry service was very well organised, everything went smoothly and we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the ferry.
- A7619BWdamianc00Great serviceVery efficient service and were even able to accomodate me after we were given a different hire campervan that initially expected! Also appreciated the calm seas that they organised!
- Eggandeye00Efficient and friendly serviceThe loading staff were very efficient, even squeezed us on an earlier when we arrived ahead of schedule with no hassles.
- 57pauln00Autumn 2023We did the ultimate 2 day tour which meant that we had q nigh accomodation at the ozone in Kingscote. The buses were well presented and the drivers doubled as tour guides.the two gents we had were very knowledgeable, helpful and approachable thanks Will and Hamish. The down side was that the company failed to advise us of the need to book a place at the restaurant and after a long day and booking in at 6.30pm feeling hungry the last thing you want to do is not have a meal. I would have given full marks except for this. The lunch provided on each day was excellent.
- irawerner00Great jobThe sealink ferry was fantastic. Smooth fast ride. Great seating with great views. And the staff was great helping with parking to fit every car onboard
- Currambine00A great experienceA comfortable trip. Friendly staff. The whole experience was thoroughly organised from the booking to the registration and getting the vehicles on and off the boat.
- richarddH4954XQ00Loved the fresh air before they charged us for that tooOver priced ferry @ $498 for 1 car and 2 Adults plus $ 600 for 2 nights accomodation in an old run down ex Linnets pleasure resort , I will cost you around 100 per meal per couple per day with a drink and $600. And if we had paid to enter all the government owned parks that would have cost us $ 300 then you have the private operators if you want as well , so this weekend away cost us $1800: My advice if you want a great value holiday miss this place go some it’s overpriced and the SA GOVERNMENT AND PARKS AND WILD LIFE are milking it Sealink should be ashamed of the prices they charge too
- H7257FFdavea00very goodSealions and other attractions very good rangers very helpful we stayed six days and if price of ferry was more affordable, we would go again. However, as pensioners we have to be careful and find pricing schedule for 60-minute trip just a bit over the top.
- ralphr55900Great tour for foreigners. For overseas visitors, this is a good opportunity to view and come close to Australian wildlife. The first day was rather long, but our tour guide, Adam, kept us amused with his endless knowledge. The ferry ride organisation was first class with a good coffee shop on board. Day two tour was more relaxed and offered an insite of live on the island. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience, but please check the lose blind in the return bus, which rattles continually
- jacks2400Great Ferry to KISo easy to check in and go to Kangaroo island - everyone involved in this Ferry from checkin to driving on to the Feery to staff on the boat 10/10 such a great way to get there and they board quick and get you off quick. Loved it
- Australian-lover00Excellent2 days are not enough for Kangaroo Island. It is beautiful there and so many things to do and Explorer.
- karenlR9241HH00Sailing into beauty and historyThe beauty of the island is enhanced by the easy ferry crossing assisted by friendly staff, nice coffee, free booklet showing a range of activities and eateries and, of course, the geographical and historical highlights. We did the trip on our own and took in many of the natural sights. The dolphins didnt come out to play on the two days we visited, but I am sure they do. We found cafes with nice food all around the island, nice wine and good eateries for the evening meal. It was winter but the colours were glorious and the scenery on the trip down to Cape Jervis was very pretty.
- luis c00Confortable accomodationI just took the ferry to Kangaroo Island. Was on time, clean and comfortable accommodation. Easy to book
- robertsK7851XM00Shorty's experianceVessel departure was on time for both trips. Crew very very helpful in loading my vehicle. even though it was a rough crossing the ferry handled it well. Great scinary on both trips

Difficult review to write....
The tour itself, 5/5
The coach to the ferry and Peter the driver 5/5
Hamish the tour guide 5/5
The Company (Sealink) 1/5 and thats generous
The driver back to Adelaide 2/5
I should start by saying that storms had been forecast for several days and I foolishly made the assumption that the company would advise us if there was any chance that there might be a problem getting back. After all they do own and operate the ferry!!!!!!
Despite rain we had a good trip down, ok ferry crossing and a brilliant trip around the island, seeing seals, kangaroos, Koalas and the Remarkables (they do live up to their name) and Admirals arch.
Unfortunately after that it all started to go wrong.... Sealink cancelled the ferry due to bad weather and simply didn't appear to have a plan of action to deal with the stranded passengers. Some went to hotels on the island, at their own expense and we slept at the terminal.
Staff at the terminal were great and Peter even brought in mattresses and blankets from home.
On arrival back on the mainland, after a really rough crossing, we boarded our coach to be told that the driver had received orders from Head office that there would be no hotel drop offs, just at the bus station. This could gave been handled so much better - "I am sorry ladies and gents but because of the number of passengers and the delays we will be unable to drop you at your hotel today" same message much friendlier delivery.
Overall my ansgt is with Sealink. They own the ferry, the storms had been forecast all week. The least they could have done was warn us that there was a risk of cancellation, and the consequences of that. At least we could have made our own decision as to whether we wanted to take the risk. 2ndly the weather obviously deteriated during the day, why didn't they curtail the trip and get us on an earlier ferry.
My lasting view of Sealink is that their staff onthe ground are fabulous but the company as a whole don't give a damn

Hi Kevin, thank you for your feedback and we would like to apologise that you had that experience. We are proud of our team’s response on the ground during an unusual weather event of that nature and thank you for your kind words, we will ensure they receive them personally.
Regarding cancellation of our scheduled services due to poor weather, we would like to assure you that we do have a stringent process in place. As the weather is often unpredictable and contrary to forecasts, the final decision is made by our Masters, sometimes unavoidably quite close to a scheduled departure. The safety of our customers and crew is always our priority. We do however acknowledge that the situation during that particularly difficult weather event experienced across South Australia and the resulting difficulty of finding last minute accommodation on Kangaroo Island was not a good customer experience. We have since worked with our teams to put further controls in place to avoid this occurring in the future. The SeaLink Team.

Early rise ensured pick-up from Hotel in Adelaide.
Pre departure information meant we were prepared for possible postponement of trip : bad weather forecast!
However, despite cancellation alert, trip proceeded and we had a wild, windy and wet trip across the waters to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island.
Staff on board were attentive to the needs of all.
Directions were forthcoming and once underway, all was efficient.
Pick up by Coach driver on K.I. was quick and all keenly boarded.
Coach driver Dave was great, with wonderful descriptions of life, activity and all that goes on on the Island. He was fantastic: really ensuring that our day was full of all possibilities despite the inclement weather forecast.
Skies cleared for a sunny afternoon and so many wonderful sights and scenes were experienced 😍 it was a memorable day.
Final treat on K.I. was a koala crossing the road in front of the Coach: a chance to view the bush fire scarred male who posed for photos on the ground; then he climbed a shrub to sit and pose for more! 🤗
A long day; long drive "home" to the Hotel, was rewarded by seeing a wallaby jumping in the long grass and shrubs beside the road on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

What an amazing Island.
Starting with the cons (which is nothing to do with the island) the transfer to and from the Ferry was not great. There was no communication, many tours contact you the day before with final instructions, we received nothing, we were meant to have hotel pick up, but no one contacted us to confirm our hotel pick up, so we had to go to the general meeting point (others also experienced this, not a huge issue as it wasn’t far) but the lack of communication wasn’t an ideal start. To add to this the general meeting point instructions on your booking ticket ask you to be checked in at the desk at 6:15, be ready to be boarding the bus at 6:30 to be setting off at 6:45, however there was no one at the check in desk and the coach/driver didn’t arrive until just before 7am.
With the coach back to the CBD, there were several pit stops not relating to the tour (like postal service pick up) that the driver had to do (again not a huge problem as we eventually made it back, but it prolonged the already long journey back and when you’ve paid for a tour, you expect it to just be about that tour, it doesn’t mention unexpected extras).
Moving on from the transfer, once you get to the Island, you’ll have the most amazing day, learning all about this fantastic Island. It blew me away at how amazing this Island is and the community it has grown. More people should know about Kangaroo Island.
It was so amazing to learn all about the history and to see the Island come back to life after the devastating bush fires.
I wish I knew about the 2-day tour beforehand, because we would have happily stayed the nigh on the Island to carry on exploring the next day.
Thank you to Adam, our tour guide for the day (and a local to Kangaroo Island) for the most amazing day. You really made the day extra special, the humour/jokes, the information and knowledge shared throughout the day, and the extra mile he went to make sure everyone had the absolute best day. Our ferry was late docking by 20 minutes, cutting into our time on the Island, which meant there was a possibility we wouldn’t be able to go onto the beach to see the seals, however Adam worked his magic and got us that special beach visit. Also thank you Adam for the chats/stories about great whites (sad I didn’t get to see the tooth).
The 2-course meal we had was beautiful, you can really taste the freshness of the ingredients, love how they incorporated a small business that was affected by the bush fire. The staff were so friendly and happy, and the food was amazing – we had chicken salad for main and cheesecake for dessert, with free tea, coffee, or water.
Overall, we really enjoyed our day, one of our favourite tours, if we find ourselves back in Adelaide, we will definitely be visiting Kangaroo Island again to finish exploring the rest of what the Island has to offer. Definitely recommend booking this trip. Also, little tip: sit on the left side of the coach on Kangaroo Island a lot of the commentary and information is to the left.

We had a pleasant tour of the island with the very nice commentary from our tour guide cum bus driver. The bus ride was comfortable and there was enough time to enjoy the sights and scenery of Kangaroo Island. Lunch was good and served quickly by friendly staff. The ferry ride to and from the island was pleasant but I recommend to take sea sick medication if you suffer from motion sickness. It was a long day which started from hotel pickup at 6:10 am and we got back to our hotel at 10pm. Tiring but worth it.

Great day, everything was well planned, and you get to sit back and relax. Only complaint would be that It felt a little rushed at Remarkable Rocks and Admiral Arch, and I felt a bit sorry for the slower walkers, as there is a little walk to both.
There are substitute walks at both Seal Bay and Admiral’s Arch for those unable to do stairs, but I’d recommend doing Admirals Arch if you can, it’s stunning. There were no toilets on board.

The Kangaroo Island in a day tour from Adelaide was amazing. The drive through the countryside from Adelaide to the ferry port was beautiful and we saw dolphins and a whale on the ferry trip. Dave gave us a warm welcome on the island and was an amazing tour guide throughout the day, keeping us entertained with information and great vibes on the coach. We hit all the highlights of Kangaroo Island with the wildlife park being a particular highlight feeding kangaroos and being able to stroke the koalas. Very nice 2 course lunch and smooth running throughout the entire itinerary from start to finish. My best day in South Australia by far!

Bad start driver misread roster so pick up time of 6.30am turned into 8.20am
Standing in the cold winds for 2 hrs
Tried to call both numbers for an update no one answered. I was contacted by office 7.55 am advising issue with bus. Poor communication.
False information given by office as driver said it was his error nothing to do with the bus.
Had to cut out the wildlife visit which was extremely disappointing particularly with international visitors on the tour.
Compensation was a coffee not sure that covers the stress and loss of visiting the wildlife park.
Driver/ guide on tour was great very knowledgeable and engaging Great communicator.
Resturant team were great very welcoming and good food.
Sites visiting were amazing.
Finish off saying disappointing poor contact / communication when it was identity pickups were going to be delayed and missing the Wildlife park

We understand that further compensation for this delay, which resulted in missing the Wildlife Park, has been provided following the tour and your comments have also been shared with management to address the concerns outlined in your feedback accordingly.

We wanted to fit a trip to Kangaroo Island into our already full itinerary so we selected this one-day trip knowing it was one of those places where you really should spend more time. The sites were all wonderful and we were happy to have such a carefully curated selection for the tour. Garry did a fabulous job of providing us with abundant information about KI as we travelled to each location!
From comments made by fellow travelers, I would say that several things should be considered before choosing this tour: 1) Yes, you will be limited in time at each location. There isn't a stop you would want to miss. To accomplish this much in a single day, there is a tight schedule, requiring travelers to be back on the bus within the allotted window, 2) To access the best views, there is a good deal of walking down hills and stairs - and back up those hills and stairs! The walking is safe, with handrails, etc, but it could be strenuous, 3) This is a loooong day!
This trip to KI was very enjoyable and if you just have a single day, like we did, you will be amazed at all of the opportunities presented!

Hi bltwrt,
Thank you for the 5-star review from your most recent experience with us.
We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your 1-day trip to Kangaroo Island, which we agree is a great option for those with limited time as the tour covers a lot of ground and gets around to all the attractions the island is so famous for.
Your helpful feedback is greatly appreciated and we will be sure to share your kind words with Garry, we are very luck to have such knowledgeable drivers, they really make the experience!
Thank you for choosing SeaLink and we hope to see you back on Kangaroo Island again soon.

Great tour, starting with the pick up from our hotel to the calm waters of the ferry. If you get Gary as your driver on the island then you’re in luck! He was so funny And full of information! But make sure you are on time as you may get some attention if you’re the last one on the bus! We would recommend one thing which is to have less time at wildlife park and more at the remarkable rocks . That was definitely the highlight of the tour. Lunch was also yummy and well organised! Seal bay was also a wonder.
Having done the tour we definitely recommend it over driving on the island unless you’re staying overnight and have a lot of time on your hands!

This was a big day...16hours and 13.5 hours of it on a coach. By the time we got to destinations we only had 35-45mins before being rushed back in bus.... there was a lot of area to cover! 1.5-2 hours of driving between stops. I should have done a self-drive to ensure I could stay as long as I wanted. Tour good for those not wanting to or able to drive themselves.

Hi sylviac836,
Thank you so much for your feedback. We truly appreciate it as it helps us improve our products and services. Our tours are designed for people who do not have ample time to enjoy Kangaroo Island, hence the long driving. We do agree with you and definitely recommend our self-drive packages and stay on the island longer to enjoy everything the island has to offer at your own pace if you have more time to spare.
Kind regards,
The SeaLink Marine & Tourism Team

Which are the hotels that have a direct pickup from hotel for this 1 day tour to Kangaroo Island?

You will need to check with the tour group as there are several stops around the city. some are in front of hotels. Ours was 50m away near the old railway station / casino.

The SeaLink organises the bus pickup transfers ferry and Kangaroo Island tours. You have to ring their office during office hours at least 2 days before your trip to ask if they can pickup in your hotel or they will tell you the approximate time to the nearest pickup and drop off point convenient for you. The SeaLink staff are very friendly and helpful and we're very appreciative for the experience that we've had during our tour.

Hi, would this day trip be suitable for a 10yo child with adult? Thanks!

I wouldn’t recommend as it’s about 6am-10pm and a lot of time travelling so I’d think children would get very bored and restless. Might be good to hire a car to do a self driven tour instead.

What’s the Island like post bushfires? Has anyone gone lately and did you still see wildlife?

You can definitely see all of the damage however there is still lots of lush greenery and we saw plenty of wildlife out and about. It really hurt the koala population so only saw them in the wildlife park.

My adult daughter and I will be travelling to Kangaroo Island from 27 November to December 1, 2020. We would love to be able to do a seal discovery tour but it seems they all go from Adelaide. Is there any tour which goes from American River or some other spot on Kangaroo Island?.

We are planning a trip in May 2020. Will the itinerary include the rocks & arch by that time?

My feeling would be that if trips are being run at all after the fires, that the rocks and the arch would be viewable as they are on the coast, away from trees and vegetation and therefore be unlikely to have been affected. I would advice you ask the tour firm in addition

Hi what time is pickup? What time is the tour back? Is there pickup/delivery from Holiday Inn express?
Why 31 days cancellation?

Hi, are there any stops for a quick breakfast on the way from Adelaide and dinner on the return journey to Adelaide? Should we bring our own snacks as well for the long bus ride?

We had a pick up from the hotel. This was the only part that was bad. We were dropped at some bus station and almost froze to death waiting for the main bus to arrive.
