The Waitomo Caves and Rotorua are two of the most visited attractions on New Zealand’s North Island. This tour visits both in one day and ensures you maximize your time and money, with hotel pickup, entrance fees, and lunch all included. Spot glowworms as you cruise through Waitomo Caves, marvel at the geothermal wonders of the Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, and experience Kiwi farm life at the Agrodome.
What to Expect
After pickup from your central Auckland hotel, journey to the Waitomo Caves in the King Country region in an air-conditioned coach.

Once there, explore underground caverns, caves, and tunnels, and marvel at stalactites and rock formations. Visit Glowworm Grotto and join an underground riverboat cruise beneath thousands of glittering glowworms.

In the Agrodome, a working sheep and cattle farm, glimpse into New Zealand farming traditions. Learn day-to-day running of a dairy farm, watch sheep shearing and mustering demonstrations, and take part in activities, such as milking a cow or feeding calves and lambs.

Eat a packed lunch (included) in the coach, as you travel to Rotorua. Keep your camera on hand at the Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, as you stroll past bubbling mud pools, hissing fumaroles, and striking silica terraces. Don’t miss a peek at the Pohutu Geyser, which can reach up to 100 feet (30 meters) high.

At the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, discover New Zealand’s rich Maori heritage; learn Maori culture, customs, and traditions in a meeting house that’s considered sacred by the Maori; and admire wood carvings, weavings, and artworks.

Finally, remain in Rotorua to explore further or be dropped back at your Auckland hotel.

Rotorua-A must visit.

Rotorua has a lot to offer-Waitomo Caves, Redwood tree walks, Wai-O-Tapu, Lake. Such varied experiences. We had stayed there for a day and a half and it was worth it.

Sleepily I boarded the bus at Auckland. The driver gave an informative talk for the whole bus trip. The Waitomo Glow-worm Caves are mind blowing. The caves tour begins with a walk through mystic rainforest. The guided tour brings us deep into the caves, with...More
