This tour was the highlight of my visit to Auckland. Beautiful sights, insightful commentary... everything I could ask for.
After pickup from your Auckland hotel, leave the city and head south along the west coast in an air-conditioned minivan. The first stop of the day is at the Arataki Visitor Centre in Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, where you learn more about the region’s geology, wildlife, and Maori heritage.
Continue to Piha Beach, a surfing hot spot, where you stroll along black sands and paddle in the Tasman Sea. After lunch at a local café, continue to Karekare Beach and, if you like, swim in the cool waters beneath the falls. Finally, stop at Cascade Kauri Park for a leisurely guided hike, looking out for birds and other wildlife, and marveling at the gigantic kauri trees—some of which are hundreds of years old.
After your outdoor adventure, return to Auckland, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
