- Stay666290844300 contributionsCoromandel private tourNovember 17, 18 and 19 we have had a woderfull tour through the Coromandel area. Our driver has shown us a lot of beautiful place. The diverse nature was so great. And the knowledge of our driver added so much value for us. He’s one of a million, a true friend. It makes a journey we wil never forget. Kind regards, Helena & Izaak from the NetherlandsWritten January 13, 2025
- G5353UTelizabethd0 contributionsA great way to start your New Zealand vacation!Highly recommend. We only had 48 hours in Auckland and wanted to see as much of the area as possible. Equally important for us was understanding both the history and present day from the Maori perspective. We got everything we hoped for plus yummy snacks and water along the way! My son groaned at the idea of an 8 hour tour after our 22 hour travel time but the time flew by and he was highly engaged in all of the activities. The guide adapted the order of the tour based on her knowledge of traffic, weather and incoming cruise passengers who would crowd certain areas at different times so that we got the most out or our time. The van was super comfortable and communication with the company was clear and super friendly! We highly enjoyed it and learned a lot. It was a great way to start our 2 week New Zealand vacation.Written January 12, 2025
- TheOriginalRedWiner0 contributionsAn Amazing, Friendly, Social Learning Experience! Our private tour guide, identified as "Donna 84" on her badge was a true gem. She picked us up at our hotel, and her sociable, outgoing manner immediately put us at ease. It was as if we were with an old friend or relative. Her knowledge of the Maori culture came from her own background, and she easily explained things to us in a way that made us feel comfortable in learning rather than clueless. As a retired educational administrator of 49 years, who has observed and evaluated hundreds of teachers, that is an important quality for a teacher (tour guide) to possess. She explained the history and significance of the several monuments we viewed before going to the museum. She knew the museum thoroughly. She bypassed the lines and crowds to get us to what we should see. She knew her way around so well that we covered 2 or 3 times what we would have been able to explore on our own. At departure, we felt as if we were saying goodbye to a friend. Thank you Donna!Written January 10, 2025
- 698barryk0 contributionsExceptional! Our tour director was absolutely incredible and is a real asset to your organization! - 859bethj0 contributionsDo the Luxury Day Tour - It is WORTH IT!!I bit the bullet and booked a full day luxury tour of Auckland for the day we were to board a cruise ship for a 14 day trip around NZ and Australia. THE BEST DECISION I EVER MADE! The company easily adjusted the timing (early pick-up and afternoon drop off at the cruise port) and locations we visited for our schedule. The driver was Curtis, remember that name and be sure to ask for him! What an amazing day of sightseeing and learning. I don’t recall ever having such an informative and fascinating day. Curtis was so knowledgeable and easily shared everything with us. And, I asked a ton of questions!! I grilled Curtis on everything from unemployment, NZ history, seismic activity, to wastewater treatment, really! We went to gorgeous beaches, amazing scenery, drove all over town, had a wonderful lunch, and were dropped off right at the cruise ship terminal to board our ship. It was a fantastic we were able to see as much of Auckland as possible in a short span of time, which our primary objective. The incredible learning experience was unanticipated and thoroughly enjoyed. I have nothing but the highest praise for you this tour company. I’m so glad I found them on line and booked the private tour. It was worth every penny, sincerely!Written December 25, 2024

She is so knowledgeable about the history of New Zealand and is very passionate about telling the stories about this great Country. She even brought us samples of different honeys and Vegemite lite to taste. She is very personable and easy to talk to. She answered all of our questions and made the entire tour an adventure!! - tvppvt1230 contributionsJust all round excellent! The tour company I can’t wait to book with again. Manaakitanga at its finest. We did the Auckland Highlights Luxury Tour and it was absolutely fantastic and worth every penny! We were greeted by our friendly and super cool host Donna who was everything you’d want in a host and more. We thoroughly enjoyed her driving, knowledge, company, and just all round vibe! Manaakitanga lives strongly with people like Donna! The ride was very comfortable, not over booked at all, 3 couples in a 9 seater van is just perfect, so everyone was happy! Not to mention the amazing snack basket that’s there for you as well. Savory, sweet, plain, simple options that would make most people happy. As I constant water sipper, it was such a comfort having access to water whenever necessary. The choice of places we stopped at were really cool! A nice mixture of urban culture and traditional culture, of which we ended up learning so much from. For me personally it allowed me to bridge a few gaps regarding the amazing Māori culture with the rest of Aotearoa! You wouldn’t believe the views you’ll get on this tour. If you want to be humbled at the marvel of Aotearoa’s beauty, this is an excellent tour choice for the TIME crunched traveler (pun intended 😂) We even stopped at a lovely little chocolate shop that is totally worth it! Also the lovely Donna gave us the absolute best recommendation for food where we finished the tour. We ended up at DEPOT at SkyCity Tower and have hands down the best meal through our whole trip. Bone marrow,Snapper sliders,Fresh oysters, Cucumber salad amazing. Desert sugar pie and skillet cookie, amazing. The staff were so cute and helpful , really added to the amazing food. Also if you’re a fan of the daily show, I think Grace Kuhlenschmidt’s kiwi twin works there! 😂 Thank you Donna!! ❤️ If you made it this far, I’ve convinced you that this is the tour you want. Otherwise, THIS IS THE TOUR YOU WANT.Written November 28, 2024

He knew all the spots and history, and helped personalize the tour just for us. We feel so knowledgeable after a day with him, and we truly enjoyed his company and expertise. - 151sherlef0 contributionsBeautiful Country - Wonderful PeopleDonna was our guide on Saturday, October 19. She is absolutely charming and so knowledgable of everything Maori. The entire day was molded by our interests and could not have been more special. Harry was our guide on Monday, October 21. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling well. So, he found a clinic that would accept me and I was able to see a doctor. He even gave them his personal information as a local contact. We spent about 4 hours there. Then, since he was concerned that we had missed an excursion he was able to get us into another one the following evening. We HIGHLY recommend TIME UNLIMITED TOURS to everyone who is planning to visit New Zealand.Written October 29, 2024
- michellesR3887AB0 contributionsHobbiton is a hole in the ground--an amazing one! This was an exceptional tour from start to finish. Curtis picked us up at the M Social in Auckland in a classy Mercedes van, clean, well stocked with everything we needed. He introduced himself and gave us a bit about his family and then proceeded down the road to Hobbiton with lots of local lore and helpful background information. He was kind, considerate, and informative attending to our every need. The Hobbiton experience itself was way above our expectations with spectacular views, detailed realistic hobbit hole sets and settings, amusing and helpful tour guide walking us through the Shire. For a Lord of the Ring buff, it was a dream come true and I recommend it for all fans of the movies by Peter Jackson on the Tolkien tales. Curtis courteously dropped us off in Rotarua but first gave us some helpful tips on local eating and visiting. He also was well informed about New Zealand travel in general and gave us more info on our flights and tours to the South Island in upcoming days. Overall, 5 STARS!!Written October 18, 2024
- I178TFsantim0 contributionsA wonderful tour to two magical placesI searched online for a private tour to two specific destinations around Aukland, the Waitomo Caves and Hobbiton. Time Unlimited offered the services so chose them. I was sent texts and messages via Tripadvisor to confirm details. It sort of put me at ease because it helped confirm that the date and time was correct for the booking. We were picked up promptly at our hotel in Aukland by John. One of the most incredible tour guides I have had. I've done private tours in other countries and John is exceptional and knowledgeable. My party was taken to both sites in a comfortable car with lots of room and plenty of snacks! When we reached our destination I felt like a VIP the way John handled the entrance of Waitomo and Hobbiton. Since we were able to complete the tour on the early side he drove us around the city of Aukland which was a bonus. I would definitely recommend Time Unlimited for anyone looking for a tour in Aukland, and would love to thank John for making our experience memorable.Written October 4, 2024

I can honestly say our tour with Sofia was among the top we have ever experienced. Her knowledge of Maori culture and truly caring approach was simply unsurpassed. We explored Auckland museum, and a delicious lunch at a lovely garden, had access to some of the most incredible views in the world - from Piano beach to a tucked away waterfall to black beach she gave us a day we will always remember! Do not hesitate to book you won’t be disappointed

What a pleasure it was to read your review and we are delighted you had such a great time with us! We host our tours in a range of beautiful Mercedes vehicles but our greatest asset is our wonderful team of kaiarahi (guides), who are highly-knowledgeable, caring and fun! Company is Maori-owned & our guide was also Maori. Our intern- guide was extremely knowledgeable as well. We just completed a series of tours in Australia & New Zealand. We travel a lot & this was by far the BEST tour. Having two guides made it extra enjoyable. Sofia & Nina worked together brilliantly & the entire day flew by with ease. Please be sure to do the museum visit with the performance- you will learn so much & it is beautifully done. Sofia was great at explaining & engaging. She was so warm & wonderful & open about telling her story & history of NZ.

Our Auckland Maori Luxury Tour and Cultural Performance allows our manuhiri (guests) to enjoy a wonderful day of sightseeing and learning about indigenous Maori culture as they discover Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) and Te Wao Nui o Tiriwa (Waitakere Ranges) on Auckland’s West Coast. We also visit the Auckland Museum with its Maori & Polynesian Gallery and experience a Maori Cultural Performance, which showcases Maori performing art and the famous Maori postural dance – the haka. We are very grateful for you taking the time to let others know about your Auckland Tour with TIME Unlimited Tours (where TIME = To Integrate Maori Experiences)! Ka kite ano (see you again soon! Our Maori tour with Ceillhe and Harry was one of true highlights of our trip to Australia and New Zealand. A prior reviewer (Vera M) captioned it best: "Soulful journey through Maori culture". Our trip to the west coast from Auckland included a rainforest, waterfall, black sand beach, nature center, lovely lunch and city sights and views. It was a wonderful day - but what made it wonderful were our hosts. Ceillhe and Harry's warmth and kindness enveloped our little group as they spoke of Maori customs and culture. By the end of the day we were all best friends. Truly, this was one of the best tours we have ever been on and we can't recommend Time Unlimited enough.

Kia Ora! It was a great pleasure hosting you a few weeks ago, which seems like another age because it was just a couple of weeks before the floods and cyclone, which devastated especially our west coast. But not to worry, we will stand up again like we have done so many times before and our west coast will be opened again soon too. Meeting lovely manuhiri (valued guests) like you is the main reason we love what we do so much and thanks so much for your kind words, it's greatly appreciated. Wishing you all the very best and ka kite ano (see you again soon)! Neill & Ceillhe Sperath

Breviss was the perfect tour guide. He was jovial and charismatic. He knew his audience and how to make sure they had a good time. The tour is an all day event. Breviss picked us up and took us to see some of the historic sites in Auckland. Every place he took us had an epic view of either the ocean or the city. We ate at great restaurant before heading off on a drive to see the beach. Snacks and water were available throughout the trip. At each stop Breviss gave us a bit of history for the location and endeavored to teach us a few words in Maori. He made it a welcoming environment to ask questions about both the Maori culture and their history. We learned a great deal about the culture and Breviss spoke with clear passion about the challenges faced by the Maori people; both in their colonial past and in the present. You really couldn't ask for a more entertaining and informative tour of New Zealand in such a short time. The trip itself does last the whole day from 9am until approximately 4:30pm. But it was well worth the time and money.

The tour was good, allthough we had bigger expectations. Good tourguides as well and so was the bus. All concidered the price was a little too much and €150 a person would be a better price for a tour like this and the €237,= a person we have paid was really way overpriced.

Great that Ruben enjoyed his tour with us. We have exceptional guides and our guide Hinauri is amazing that we know will have looked after them very well. Value is very much a personal thing and the feedback we have received for almost 2 decades now is that our tours, while deliberately not cheap, are great value for money for discerning guests, as opposed to those just looking for a cheap deal. Part of the reason why we have wonderful guides, by the way, is that we pay them very well way above average and furthermore do a lot to look after our team.
We provide a lot of extras, such as snacks, a comprehensive lunch, tastings and lots of other extras that they will have enjoyed too. The "bus" that is mentioned is a top-end Mercedes Sprinter with leather seats and super-comfortable interior. The reality is that some guests may not appreciate all the extra things they are given but our manuhiri (valued guests) definitely have great value for money. By the way, the guide that we had allocated for this tour fell sick at short notice. Instead of making it easy for ourselves and cancelling the tour, instead we at considerable expense to us flew one of our guides who now lives in Wellington to Auckland (which she still knows like the back of her hand) to ensure the tour still goes ahead. Our guide is amazing and we are very proud that she continues to want to work for us, which she does when operations require this despite living quite far away now. Neill & Ceillhe

A day out around the greater Auckland area, learning about aspects of Moari culture and history in the area. We visited locations on the city and outside, our guide keeping the conversation going throughout. It is a relatively small number of people so quite personal too. Highly recommended.

Although the terrible storms which battered their community and added issues with barnacles on the bottom of our cruise ship prevented us from ever reaching New Zealand, this family run small company were compassionate and kind to us over our cancelling our booking. I was also in a bit of a state due to other issues and perhaps not the easiest of people to deal with at that point. But they understood completely. No formality of a large tour company, just excellent ans kind personal contact. I wish I could have done the trip just to meet them , and I hope I can make it another time. I am sure it would have been a superb day

This booking was made for a day during the worst flooding Auckland has ever experienced, with the result that their cruise ship had to divert and not dock in Auckland. While it was such a shame that we couldn't meet these booked guests, they sounded lovely and we really hope they will be able to visit Auckland one day soon. Ultimately, the reason we have our business is because we still love what we do after almost 20 years through many ups (delighted guests) and downs (notable the last 3 years of pandemic, Auckland floods and cyclone). Despite all that has happened in the past 3 years, we couldn't think of anything else we would prefer to do. Wishing you all the very best and may we meet one day soon! Neill Sperath

The tour was not what was advertised. While there were charming aspects and the guides were friendly, the stops and the information included didn't line up with what was indicated as the tour. For example, we did not go to several of the places listed, nor did we see the cultural things indicated in the photos. While we had a nice time, it was not worth the price paid, and we were left a bit disappointed.

It's really amazing just how "tone-deaf" some people are. Since the cyclone, which caused massive damage around Auckland and especially our west coast (which is what she is referring to), we several days before this tour sent her the following message:
"Kia ora Christine, As an update re Cyclone Gabrielle, which of course caused major damage on Auckland's west coast a few weeks ago, this means that our west coast will most likely not be open for visitation for below tour and we are monitoring this daily as locations around Auckland reopen. If our west coast is still closed when you tour with us, we have many other locations in and around Auckland to ensure you have a great day while in our care. Just so you know. Neill & Ceilhe".
This has been designed to allow our guests to decide whether they want to still do the booked tour, or still have enough time to cancel FOC. What we can't accept is when we have clearly communicated what has happened and how we are dealing with this - massive damage that at this point is still closing off access to our west coast - and then this person still goes ahead with the tour and then complains about parts of the advertised locations not being visited. Honestly we despair at how heartless some people are while all we are doing is our very, very best but for some people, no matter what we do, they will find something to complain about.
We wonder what more can we do than clearly communicate what effect the Auckland floods followed a couple of weeks later the biggest cyclone to ever hit Auckland had - and that we will show our guests other great locations that we are allowed to visit. What makes the current situation difficult is that we are expecting, and hoping for, all the locations we usually visit to open again in stages very shortly. So we clearly communicate that we may not be able to visit all of what is advertised but have an equally good plan in place to maximise our manuhiri's (valued guests) enjoyment, only for exactly this proactive way of dealing with this catastrophic situation to be criticised.
After 3 years of hell for those of us in tourism due to pandemic, floods and cyclone, one would like to expect to not receive a kick in the guts when already down but some people just can't help themselves. We wish you a good life and lots of happiness :-). Neill & Ceillhe
