    What to Expect
After pickup from your hotel or cruise port, explore the cosmopolitan capital of Wellington and its surroundings by luxury mini-coach on a 4-hour or 8-hour tour.

A knowledgeable guide transports your small group along the south coast for a glimpse of the South Island from lookout points perched on steep cliffs. See the ruins of the Wahine maritime disaster of 1968, when 51 people lost their lives in Wellington Harbour, and enjoy views of Matiu/Somes Island, a scientific reserve and nature sanctuary. Learn about the island’s history as a quarantine station for immigrant ships to New Zealand as well as an enemy internment camp during World War I and II.

If you selected the full-day tour, enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach or at one of Wellington’s trendy cafes.

A unique ride aboard the Wellington Cable Car takes you to the top of Mt Victoria (Mt Vic) for panoramic views of the city and harbor; this charming transport is one of the few remaining of its kind in the world.

On a visit to Thorndon, New Zealand's oldest suburb, you’ll visit the New Zealand Parliament Buildings and its domelike Beehive, the government seat. Step inside Old St Paul's Cathedral for a look at the Gothic Revival architecture.

Conclude your sightseeing tour with a visit to the Te Papa national museum where interactive exhibits delve into New Zealand’s Maori and European cultural heritage. Afterward, relax with a convenient drop-off at your starting point.

The tour was tailored to our tastes, architecture, nature and politics. It was just the two of us. BJ was knowledgableble, and friendly. He told us history, geography, and a few of his own adventures. First class tour.

Grant met us at the pier and immediately noticed that I had a brochure for a native plant preserve that was not listed on the tour, so he offered to customize and include it. Just an indication of the detail and care that he provided on this comprehensive tour of the city. He

Hi deelveetee, Thanks for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed your tour with us, and will pass on your comments to Grant, your guide. We're lucky to have a beautiful, vibrant city to share with our visitors, and have picked out some of the highlights for this half day tour. We also like to keep our numbers fairly low, so our guests can properly experience what is on offer, rather than being lost in a giant tour vehicle. Thanks, Flat Earth NZ Expereinces

David, our tour director and driver, took us to the main viewing points around the city with an honest, relaxed and informative explanation of its development and history. We did the 1/2 day tour but were given insights into possible individual places for another day. Well

Hi 526annec, Thanks for your review. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed yourself on our tour. All our guides share a common interest of showing off the city we call home, and enjoy sharing their inside knowledge with guests from far and wide. Whether that be on the tour itself or at another time in your stay. Thanks, Flat Earth NZ Experiences

We didn't plan on having a personalised tour, but that is what we got! What Ray Meadows doesn't know about Wellington probably isn't worth knowing and it was made all that more special by him taking the time to learn about our interests and tailoring the tour accordingly. Who

Hi Katrina, Thanks for your review. Ray is always happy when people enjoy his tours. Just like all our guides, he is very passionate about the city we call home and loves showing it off to people from all over the world. We believe in the forgotten art of conversation, and talking with you not at you. The reason we like to keep our group numbers small is so we can do exactly what you mention - tell you of things relative to your interests. There is so much crammed into this city that there will always be something for everyone! Thanks, Flat Earth NZ Experiences
