A guide tells stories of the Jewish ghetto that you may otherwise miss
Navigate the dormitories, barracks, crematorium, and cemetery with ease
Includes entrance fees and coach transport, so you can focus on the camp
What to expect
Board a coach in central Prague with your guide and travel to Terezin, an 18th-century military fortress used as a concentration camp and Jewish ghetto by Nazi forces after their invasion of the Czech Republic in WWII. On arrival, take a narrated tour of the complex as your guide charts the terrible events that occurred here. Learn how many thousands died at the camp, and how many were transported on to death camps such as Auschwitz and Treblinka. Visit must-sees including the Small Fortress, Ghetto Museum, Magdeburg Barracks, Columbarium, Crematorium, and dormitories; the latter with original furniture. Learn about the prisoners’ suffering through documentary films, discovering how they maintained a semblance of cultural life despite everything. Then, pay homage to the camp victims at the Terezin Memorial, home to approximately 10,000 graves. Finally, return to Prague where your tour ends at the original starting point.

Day visit
Bus & train ride included. Roughly an hr to your location. Tour guide informative & friendly. Lots of walking so be comfy. Modern society live in this camp/town so for me took away the horrors that were or what you could have felt.

Grim visit but a well-done tour.
Feb. 2020 • Friends
I booked this tour & paid for it on Tripadvisor before I left the US. It was easy to find the starting point, the bus was clean & tour guide was knowledgeable & helpful. Terezin is made up of a former ghetto & a concentration camp. This wasn’t an official extermination camp, but plenty of people, Jews & non-Jews, died here. Grim & sad, but sensitively presented. The museum is worth visiting. The guide gave us lots of extra info & she really knew her Czech history.

Worthwhile visit
Vera, the tour leader was knowledgeable and spoke many languages. Sometimes difficult to hear in the back of the bus. Trip was about an hours ride to the concentration camp. Several stops within, including a short film and a secret Jewish prayer hall in the town. A longer (about 1 hour tour) within the camp by a local leader was informative and included. I felt like I learned a lot.

Terezin tour
Oct. 2019
Prompt transportation to and from the camp. The tour guide, on the bus, was friendly, knowledgeable and catered to multilingual passengers successfully. The camp tour guide provided extensive knowledge of the camp and life there thru numerous stories. The museum was very well done with pictures by the camp children. The visit to the crematorium was extremely sad as was the cemetery outside that building. We welcomed the stories and its information, but experienced very mixed emotions while on the tour.

Sobering visit
Oct. 2019
Terezin is a short drive from Prague. The visit brings reality to the atrocities committed there to the Jewish community. A site not to miss is the Museum there that houses many works of art from those who resided there. Also the museum highlights those 15,000 children who were kept at Terezin.

Looking for more
Expectations were high for this .Not sure if there was a better time to get there but we got there about 10am or so. It’s about s 45 min drive from Prague on a small bus. Your left on time and the guide was non stop information from everything about the culture and area to the making of beer and how much better The Czech beer is to the USA. Does it matter?
The little fortress was well kept but crowded with different groups. On touring you have to plan on short time limits in each stop and impossible picture opportunities. Just to many people. I thought having read on this I would have seen more but it was good. The big fortress or Terezin was a little less organized. You are taking to a museum on the Children of the camp and how they we treated and the experience they went through and then loaded up in the bus taken to the artist museum were you see how the different famous musician were handled. I guess I expected to see some of the grounds like the parks and ball field from the propaganda film the NAZI put out for the world and the Red Cross. I was looking for more.

Vacation
We visited Terezin as part of our Amawaterway boat cruise.
It was very sad to hear from our guide on how they prisoners were treated.
Our guide told us this camp was more for political prisoners but just as emotional.

The tour is well organized starting with the museum, the narrated tour of the camp, the cemeteries and then the crematorium. Rene is an excellent tour guide and kept the tour moving while still answering the questions. He is very knowledgeable on all aspects.
