Descend into another universe with a visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine on this 4-hour tour from Krakow. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its sophisticated salt sculptures, dates back to the 13th century. Your guide will shed light on the fascinating history and cultural significance of this unique site.
What to Expect

Meet your guide at Matejko Square in Krakow’s historic center. Board the bus to begin your 4-hour tour and listen to your leader’s description of the mine history as you travel the 30 minutes to Wieliczka. Once you arrive, you’ll walk to the salt mine and have time for a snack or restroom break.

You’ll then descend the 380 steps to the first level of the mine. Your guide will share information on the rich history of Wieliczka, dating back seven centuries. You’ll discover another world of salt lakes, caves, winding tunnels, and elaborate salt sculptures. On this 2-hour visit, travelers will walk 1.8 miles (2.5 km) and climb down 820 steps.

Stop at the underground gift shop for distinctive salt-related souvenirs, then journey back to ground level by elevator. You’ll board the bus to Krakow, where your tour concludes in Matejko Square.

Excellent service from Krakow city tours. Prompt, efficient an reasonably priced. Pleasant, chatty driver named Woitek drove us to and from the Saltmines and was knowledgeable about the area also. Will definitely be using this service on our next visit to Krakow.
