Overview
Explore Poland’s most prized architectural gem on a 2-hour guided tour of Wawel Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about the history of the Gothic hilltop complex, which dates back to the 14th century and was the royal residence of many Polish kings. Skip the entrance lines, and stroll through grand courtyards, regal chambers, chapels and museum galleries while a guide shares tales from the castle’s long and illustrious history.
What to Expect
Meet In front of Dlugosz House in early afternoon to begin your tour. Perched on top of the hill above the Vistula river, south of the Old Town, the Wawel is the crown jewel of the city's architectural treasures. It is by far the most important collection of buildings in Poland. Its historical and artistic value, dating from the 14th century, places it amongst the gems of the UNESCO World Heritage list. A vast complex of great halls, churches, state apartments and courtyards have their own stories to tell, the atmosphere and a world view of the imperial era. Strolling through the royal chambers, your expert guide will bring the castle to life by explaining the turbulent history surrounding the various buildings and their royal and presidential connections.

Long afternoon

Our tour guide was amazing but I didn't appreciate it was a tour of private apartments only. Lots of royal history and although the tapestries were awesome it was a long afternoon for us.

Interesting

It was a nice thing to see. The castle makes a really good impression. My favourite place here is this one close to dragon.

Took English speaking tour. Guide extremely knowledgeable. Wear sneakers! Cobblestone-like walking surface leads to tired feet. Beautiful, beautiful, carvings...More

Yes you can - and sometimes you can even get in the cathedral for free. Worth a wander around on its own merits.
