Budapest Food Walking Tour
From US$91.52
Discovering a city’s food is easier with a guide—you’ll cover the classics, discover the locals’ favorite shopping stops, and learn the full story behind dishes. This half-day Budapest experience delivers with sit-down restaurant visits, a bowl of Hungarian goulash (stew), and tour of the Great Market Hall, inclusions not featured in some similar tours. Plus, you see key landmarks in between, including St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Jewish Quarter.
What to Expect
Meet your guide at the Great Market Hall, Budapest’s main food market, and set off to discover the food on sale.

Peruse the cheese, sausage, fresh fruit, and vegetable stalls as you hear about the city’s food scene and locals’ passion for roast and stewed meats. Discover, too, how vegetables such as eggplant and peppers are featured in many recipes, and about other staples such as cheese-filled pancakes.

Next, visit a café to enjoy some freshwater fish before sampling some chocolate made in Pest. Then, cleanse your palate with a classic Hungarian spritzer while learning about popular drinks in the city.

Continue to the Jewish Quarter, passing the Great Synagogue and viewing the wares at kosher bakeries. Taste some traditional Jewish goodies and cross UNESCO-listed Andrássy Avenue to visit a restaurant near St. Stephen’s Basilica. Here, savor Hungary's signature goulash (stew) and dumplings before your tour finishes nearby.

Amazing trip with Dori

Dori is a very knowledge guide. She took us to many places that we would not have found otherwise. Our trip through the central market and ruin pubs was a trip that we will remember for a long time.

I can’t recall much cheese. I am sure they will find an alternative if you let them know in advance. They were very helpful.
