As dawn breaks, take your place on the 10,000-foot summit of Mount Haleakala, Maui’s highest dormant volcano over. Make the very early morning ascent to the peak on-board a comfortable coach accompanied by a guide. Travel the winding roads through the clouds and experience the stunning, colorful sunrise while seated on the mountain side. The excursion is several hours long and includes entrance fees, continental breakfast, and roundtrip transportation.

What to Expect

Learn why Mark Twain once said this was, “The most sublime spectacle I ever witnessed and the memory of it will remain with me always.” Your tour begins in the middle of the night when a minibus arrives to pick you up at your hotel. Along the scenic, climbing drive to the summit you’ll pass the Kula District and Puu Ulaula Overlook as you ascend 10,000-feet to the summit of Mount Haleakala, a dormant volcano. At the top, get off the minibus and take your place on Maui’s highest peak as daylight begins illuminating the horizon and lighting the landscape below. Watch as the sunlight streaks the sky with vibrant, stunning colours until the sun sits high above the horizon. With the morning underway you’ll board the minibus and return to your hotel to review your spectacular photos and get some rest.

What others said. If it’s convenient, do it

However, I wouldn’t bend over backwards to fit this in. It was beautiful when we visited as we could see Venus and we had a reverse shadow over the mountain due to full moon. See the pics. It was cold up there at 5am tho.
