Great tour. Krishna was very kind, knowledgeable and talkative and I felt safe with our driver. The views from the hike were exceptional and the length was just right. I would recommend this tour for people that don't have several days to devote to trekking but want to see the countryside.

Despite hazy weather and a limited view, had a great time on this trek which allowed me to see rural Nepal. Krishna was a wonderful tour guide - knowledgeable, patient, and truly fun to be with. Highly recommend!

Prompt start from our hotel at 8am. The driver expertly negotiated us through the traffic to Nagarkot. We were fantastically lucky because the sky was bright blue and we began to see stunning views of the Himalayas as we drove up the hills out of the valley. Next was the observation tower where we got almost uninterrupted views of the mountain range. It was absolutely fabulous that morning. The hike took us through some small typical villages and we met many local smiley people on the way. Most of the journey was downhill with only a small proportion climbing upwards. The hike was about 4 hours. At the end we visited the temple at Changunarayan having stopped for lunch of momos part way. Krishna was a very knowledgable guide and was able to answer all our questions. He knew all about the Himalayas, about the local history, countryside, local way of life and all about the temple we visited. A very pleasant day out and Krishna had a good sense of humour and he made the day come alive.

Beautiful!! Krishna took amazing care of us and was so friendly, knowledgeable and very funny! The tour included a delicious lunch with a lovely view of Kathmandu Valley after meandering down through the gorgeous rural hillsides. The Changu Narayan temple at the end was breathtaking, even with the post earthquake construction. And walking through the town to get there was delightful and we couldnt help but buy some nice gifts for our friends there.

I completed this trek today, 8th May and was disappointed with the description versus reality. It was good to get out of the city but,
1) The view is restricted at this time of year, I now learn, during this season and there is little prospect of a view of ‘snow- peaked caps’. The best time to complete the trek is later in the year, in Winter.
2) The route is strewn with rubbish, clothes, old schoolbags and shoes were seen along with rubbish one would associate with a dirty street - cigarette packets, plastic cups, bottles, wrappers etc. There is also construction rubbish - see (3)
3) I don’t know how old the description is or how long ago someone with marketing responsibility actually took the trail, but house construction is frequent. Apart from the uphill section through the forest at about the 12km mark, for the majority of the time as you pass one house or construction site, the next one is in view. So the trek is not, as the impression is given, one in a rural environment between villages.

I would not do it again and if I was sitting with someone and they asked, knowing that I had completed the trek, would I recommend it the answer would be ‘No, don’t do it’.

We use Viator a lot but this tour was one of the most disappointing experiences. Starting with the vehicle used, this was below the minimum safety standard any foreigner would expect. I have pictures to show the vehicle had a large cracked windscreen, the side mirrors were held together with lots of tape and the seatbelts were not working. The driving in Nepal is crazy but our driver was inexperienced and took several unnecessary risks putting our lives at risk and then laughing when we nearly got into an accident. The guide was inexperienced and asked us questions such as our salary, ages, etc. The tour itself is not worth the price at all. You are driven up to a look out point and then you spend an hour walking down the road where the car waits for you. You then go to the Hindu temple which is beautiful but this is not a hike, it is mainly a walk along another road. We stayed at Hyatt in Kathmandu and they offered a similar tour through Heritage tours for slightly cheaper with a well maintained vehicle with AC, professional guide, etc. We regret not booking through them instead. This tour was a complete rip off.

I booked this trip and it was simply amazing. Krishna, my guide was so nice and gave me a lot of information about local customs and the area around nagarkot. When I was there, it was snowing so we coulnd't see the sunrise but nevertheless it was something very special. I can recommend this trip to everyone and can recommend especially Krishna as guide.
Greetings from germany!

For those who want to take a nice hike just outside of Katmandu I recommend Nepal Highpoint Trekking & Expedition, Uttam Pokharel, the owner was responsive and provided good customer service. The guide, Krishina, was excellent, his English exceptional and he takes the hike at your pace. AND the driver, Bishal, is the the BEST driver in the Katmandu Valley I felt completely safe while he was behind the wheel.
The hike is not difficult it begins at the top and you walk down from there, the trail is rolling hills rather than steep grades. If you're a good hiker and Krishina will know, there are a few steep shortcuts to give one a better workout. The lunch was near the end of the hike at a small restaurant and it was fantastic.
I had a great day.

The walking tour from Nagarkot to the temple at Chandu was a great experience. The tour guide, Krishna, was welcoming and informative from the moment he and his driver picked us up at our hotel. A good and interesting drive out from Kathmandu- good discussion by Krishna. As anticipated, the low level fog and early mourning mist precluded seeing the mountains at this time of year- late May- early June- but that was not a problem for us. We began our trek at a good point, and could easily see the terraced fields, and the homes, as well as new construction. The walk was downhill primarily for the first several hours.

The tour guide was informative and interesting to listen to - readily answering all both of our questions.

The walk was a great view of the sociology of Nepal, walking next to homes, through clusters of houses, new and very old, through farms, and animal- goats and more. I really appreciate the opportunity to view life in Nepal outside of Kathmandu, but not as remote as treks in Dolpo or other mountainous regions.

After the visit the to the newer temple, the hike became more up hill. The tour guide was good natured about this and kept a slower pace. This was through some mild wooded areas, but you would see Nepalese as work so the it was not simply all trees. The lunch break came after the 45 minutes or so of up hill and was well timed, in a nice setting.

Then a 45 minute walk to the Chandu temple- a good visit itself. The driver was there to take us back to the hotel. So a solid four to five hours and it was an excellent balance of walking seeing sites, seeing Nepalese in their communities, seeing nature, temples, and a bit of exercise walking uphill.

Krishna was an excellent professional as a tour guide, making this an immersive experience, but not too much information. A good chance and good way to see a part of Nepal.
