Overview
Located about 25 miles (40 km) northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi tunnels consist of a vast network of 155 miles (250 km) of tunnels connecting underground living and cooking areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command center but also hundreds of trap doors. Initially dug with simple tools and bare hands for the fight against the French in the 1940s, the tunnels were then extended by Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers during the "American War" in the 1960s and 1970s. It became a large, multi-story, deep underground city providing hiding spots, as well as communication and supply routes, helping the Vietnamese revolutionaries. On this tour, you'll get to experience what it was like for those who called these tunnels home and how they endured.
Highlights
  • Explore the Cu Chi Tunnels with a guide for a more personalized experience
  • Incredible photo opportunities in the tunnels and trapdoors
  • Private tour: explore at your own pace
  • Hassle-free hotel pickup and drop-off to Ho Chi Minh City
What to Expect
After pickup from your Ho Chi Minh City hotel, journey by air-conditioned private vehicle to the Cu Chi Tunnels. On arrival, watch a short video presentation and learn how the Viet Cong used the 155-mile (250-kilometer) network of underground tunnels as command centers, ammunition stores, field hospitals, and war bunkers during the Vietnam War.

Follow your guide on a tour of the tunnels and experience the fascinating site firsthand as you crawl into the tunnels, pose for photos peeking out of a camouflaged trapdoor, and see an old American army tank. You also have the option to visit the shooting range (own expense) and sample some traditional tea and boiled tapioca, a common wartime meal for soldiers.

Your tour ends with drop-off at your Ho Chi Minh City hotel.
