The visit to the great waterfall is the experience that leaves the most satisfaction to our travelers on this tour. To get there it is necessary to do a trekking of easy difficulty, for the whole family of about 35 minutes

Don't miss Punihuil when on Chiloe Island
Short boat ride from the beach, but plenty to see. Loads of wildlife. Penguins are the star, both Magellenic and Humboldt, but plenty of other birds to see. Definitely worth the stop. Plenty of restaurants on the beach for a meal.

Great views of Oscorno- excellent guide
Ricardo was an outstanding guide who managed the different needs and abilities of our small (5) group very well. He was informative and well organised, and astutely reorganised the schedule when low cloud in the morning prevented views of Oscorno. This was left till later in the day when the cloud had lifted. I can highly recommend this tour with Patagonia Austral.

A beautiful day all around. Part of that was great weather. And of course the scenery. The things controlled by Patagonia Austral were great too. The guide was friendly, informative, and spoke clear English. He also read the group well and accommodated our interests and pace (accommodating the slower participants without frustrating the more active). It’s also worth mentioning that the van was comfortable and in excellent condition. People who want to see the Red Crater on Osorno Volcano should be aware that the walk from the top of the chairlift is a bit demanding for those that are in only so-so physical condition. It is not far, but a bit of a climb on loose soil. I strongly recommend sunscreen.

        Great trip in countryside
Ricardo was very personable, a fabulous guide, and English was great. We saw everything listed for the tour with some discretion of what the group wanted to do, but Ricardo was watchful of the time to be certain we didn’t miss our cruise ship.

Full day on Osorno volcano, Emerald Lake, Puerto Varas and Petrohue falls
Ricardo, our guide, was great! Walking on the red crater trail on Osorno was a highlight. Petrohue falls were beautiful.

        Great Experience
Our driver and guide, Ricardo, was really great. The places he showed us were beautiful. The car rides in between were entertaining since he explained a little bit about the history, culture and landscape. He took care of everything and was really helpful. I can recommend the tour!

        Breathtaking Vistas
Excellent small size tour! Our tour guide Juan Carlos made for a very informative and fun tour. There was plenty of time at the volcano to explore on your own and the lunch was amazing.

        Very Scenic Tour
After a bumpy start we had a great tour, although shortened a few hours because we were late leaving the ship. Our guide, Ricardo spoke very good English and was quick to explain and answer any questions our group had. We had a bit of an experience coming down the mountain after visiting the chalet on the volcano and although some made a huge drama of it, it was a stone in the wheel and once the brakes cooled down we were off again with no issues. After a quick visit to the Falls, we headed back to the ship. We did a final drive through a small town on the way back and arrived in plenty of time to board the tenders. It's unfortunate some people just pick on any little mishap along the way and make it into a huge drama, which can be hugely detrimental to these wonderful tour providers. We were safe and on time and we had an enjoyable tour. Thanks!

Good Day Trip Off the Ship.
Great day on a group trip organised by a fellow cruise passenger, who herself did a great job. A bit of a cruise line -induced faff at the start caused a late start but our guide (Patricia?) and driver ensured the rest of our day was fairly plain sailing. The volcano was a stunning trip with lovely views from below but even better once through the cloud and at the ski base are. The Petrohue Rapids were a little underwhelming but the area was still beautiful. The bus was comfortable and the driver ensured we arrived everywhere and in time and the guide remained dynamic throughout, ready to change the itinerary if needed. I know our organiser was impressed with the organisation of the company leading up to the trip. Fully recommend.

Fantastic Tour from an Amazing Tour Company
I have been organizing tours all over the globe for more years than I can surmise. This time around, I did my research for companies that could provide a superlative experience for a large group in Puerto Montt. Felix of Patagonia Austral knows his stuff in spades! After communicating over 7 months or so, he provided absolutely essential information in perfect English and I was off to the races. We had to tender from a cruise ship, and due to errors on the part of that ship's staff, we were unfortunate to start our tour off an hour late. I want to express that this was in no way the responsibility of Felix and his marvellous tour company. We were two groups, my vehicle of 22 persons, and the other with 24 persons, each with its own guide. We decided to forego our lunch and centre our attention on seeing Osorno Vulcano and Petrohue Falls. WOW, I was blown away both by the unspoiled nature of the lakes, rivers and volcanoes and with the exceptional tour guide's explanation and hospitality! Unfortunately, the second group's bus on the descent of over 13,000 ft had a snag with the brakes, something that was beyond the control of the driver. A certain individual has complained about the stressful situation with reaching the tender return to the ship. Absolutely, NO way was this a worry. There was loads and loads of time and the tour guide and driver had this well in hand. What to say...everyone is entitled to their own opinion but under no circumstances was Patagonia Austral to blame for situations beyond their control. Indeed, they went above and beyond to ensure everyone would treasure their day in Puerto Montt. You just can't please all of the people all of the time. I would highly recommend them and would definitely book them again should we return to this area of South America.

        Be careful using this company
I would not recommend this company. We were with a group from a cruise, gathered from Facebook and Cruise Critic. First the good. We ended up off the ship an hour late, and that was not their fault, but the ships. Our guide was good, and asked us what we wanted to sacrifice. We said lunch. So we were doing the volcano and the falls. On the whole Ricardo, the guide did a good job. The volcano visit was good, but halfway down the mountain, the brakes on the bus failed. This is inexcusable for a tour company. We don't know if it was the bus or that our driver didn't know how to use engine braking, but in any case that was not part of what we paid for. The guide than asked us for water to cool it down. Very unprofessional. We also had 3 hours to get back to the port, so it was stressful. After about 35 minutes we were on our way. However that made the falls (which were more rapids than falls, but I understand it was the time of year, I just wish they'd told us that before we drove there) visit short. On the way back, the guide wanted to stop at the town of Puerto Varas, but we were already pushing time (we wanted to arrive 30 minutes before last tender), so we did a drive by. We ended up driving through the town, rather than straight to the dock, but there was no narration of guiding, we just looked out the window. Total waste of time. We had two buses. Friends on the other bus reported their guide didn't speak English well.

Great day at Osorno Vulcano and Petrohue Falls
We are a family of 6 so prefer the private tours. I had booked the excursion not realizing that they did not cater to the port. Felix was very accommodating and honored the booking. Our guide Ivan was very personable and knowledgeable. He was flexible and made the tour meaningful for us. We did the Full-Day Osorno Vulcano and Petrohue Falls Small-Group Tour. Highly recommend!

        A memorable experience
From the start, when we first contacted Felix of Patagonia Austral, it has been a pleasant experience. He was prompt, helpful and professional in his response to our queries. On March 12th, we were a party of 8 and had the pleasure of being greeted and met by our wonderful guide, Ziancarlo who took us on a wonderful, informative and enjoyable tour of the beautiful port of Puerto Montt. We were able to visit scenic Puerto Varas where we enjoyed a delicious local lunch on our way back. We were able to admire the awesome Petrohue Falls. Even though it was a cloudy, rainy and foggy day and was unable to see the magnificent Osorno Volcano clearly, the warm welcome and hospitality from our guide made up for it. All in all, a rewarding experience and highly recommend the place to visit, while in Puerto Montt; we can also confidently recommend the services of Patagonia Austral.

Llanquihue Lake circuit a great tour
We drove around the entire perimeter of Lake Llanquihue with Giancarlo, stopping at Puerto Varas, the green lagoon, waterfalls and Frutillar. Giancarlo is a knowledgeable and considerate guide and driver. His English is excellent. I only wish we had more time to spend in this beautiful place.

        Good experience
We booked a tour around Lake Llanquihue where we stopped at a waterfall, Frutillar, and a few other smaller sites. The tour was easy to book via email, and our guide promptly arrived at our hotel. Given it was low season, we were the only people on the tour. Our guide let us stay as long as we needed at the sites. The experience was good, and the price was affordable. I would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely time exploring the Puerto Montt region. Our shore excursion started at the port and we were greeted by Darla, our tour guide. She was friendly and provided commentary on the Puerto Montt region and pointed out local landmarks of our way to the interior. With 25 people in the tour, we were all comfortably settled into a nice touring van. This part of Chile has three active volcanoes and with luck you can manage to see them all on a clear day. We were able to view the gorgeous Petrohue Falls. These falls were like a series of intense rapids cut into a volcanic rock valley. The sheer volume of water coursing down the ravines was very powerful and impressive. This was followed by a trip to the aquamarine waters of Llanquihue Lake. It was a rainy day, so the sights were a bit dimmed, but the lake was pretty nonetheless. With a short stop to a small emerald lake we stopped off to a truly exceptional lunch at one of lakeside restaurants. The buffet was enormous and the food tasty and of high quality. The trip ended with a stop in the pretty lakeside town of Puerto Varas before heading back to port. Overall, this was a great way to get a taste of the Puerto Montt area. Beautiful landscapes are everywhere.

This is a full day tour so make sure you have good shoes, clothing for warmth and all you need for the day. Photos of course because they will be amazing. The area gets a lot of rain. We were very lucky. It is the second time I've been here and the first was more rainy but it cleared up in the afternoon. The boat has inside seats and you can walk outside so it doesn't matter so much if you aren't by the window. We preferred upstairs but both cabins are very comfortable. They have a snack bar and they sell the tours for once you reach Puella. We went on the jeep tour to that beautiful Rio Negro area where you get into a small boat. There were a lot of sand flies but they didn't bite anyone, just an annoyance. The jeep was comfortable. They have other activities such as a zip line, horseback riding and a helicopter tour that takes you over the Andes. That must be fairly expensive, so you might check the price of the helicopter tour. Lunch was served at one of the two hotels and it was fine. They have you go on the tour at Puella first because when you are at lunch you are near the dock and no one goes astray. Just be aware that you will eat probably after 1:00PM. People take the boat and continue on to Bariloche, so they disembark first to get the bus that takes them into Argentina. When you return on the boat, you get on a bus to come back to Puerto Varas directly, dropping people off at various hotels. The tours are run by one company -TurisTours. They were very well organized. You get back to Puerto Varas at about 7PM.

Excellent tour, we covered the surroundings of Puerto Montt quite a bit in a single day.
It is not necessary to bring food since we went to a restaurant in Puerto Octay.
You should bring gear for the weather, as it is very changeable.
The guide explains all the places where we are visiting, explains both history and flora and fauna.
      100% recommendable
