- Expedition1646520 contributionsAn absurd and ridiculous tour.I signed up for this tour because it included watching the sunset in the desert and having a barbecue dinner. Not on the road, but on the sand dunes. When I asked where I could watch the sunset, he said he would stop the car specially for me on his way to dinner... The sun was setting and we arrived at the Bedouin camp. The camel ride was a quick lap around the side yard. The welcome starter was served on a disposable paper plate. The barbecue consisted of finger-thick chicken and lamb skewers. The image of Dubai has been tarnished by the encouragement of souvenir buying and poor food. I never want to do such commercial tours again. My Real Trip, which connected us, is also responsible.Written January 17, 2025

- espenunaas0 contributionsGreat experience, just as hoped! We had a great experience with our guide and driver, Awais! He helped us plan the best possible tour based on our preferences. We enjoyed a camel ride (no waiting time) (none of us chose to drive ATVs, but it looked like fun!). Then we had an exciting drive through the desert, watched the sunset, and tried sandboarding—which we discovered is quite challenging. Awais also helped us take amazing photos! I’ll definitely come back to try the ATVs next time I’m in Dubai. Great experience and excellent value for money! Easy comunicantion on WhatsApp before the trip.Written January 6, 2025

He was a very skilled driver and took the best photos. I think the other groups were jealous haha. Also we had the nicest and cleanest car of all! He even got us chai and offered his coat to us when it got a little chilly at the BBQ. Highly recommend! He was always with us through out the trip, giving us valuable advice about so many things. He even created the perfect atmosphere while driving through the dessert, by choosing the right songs! As for the safari experience, it was exactly as discriped, with no surprises. Excellent experience overall! Our guide, Ayub was very courteous and professional. He communicated with us in advance of the pickup time, as well as throughout the journey. Ayub was also very resourceful in getting us to the front of the line with our quad bikes.
We would highly recommend this company and Ayub as a guide.

Thank you so much for kindly helping me change the pickup location, even at the last minute!
I couldn’t try the bike because it was a bit expensive, but I’d definitely recommend it if you can afford it—it looked like so much fun for everyone who tried it! I was a bit scared of riding the camel since I’m not very brave, but you reassured me, and I ended up really enjoying it. Plus, you took such great pictures without me even having to ask!
The weather in Dubai today was cloudy, so the sunset wasn’t very clear, but I really appreciate how much effort you put into taking beautiful photos regardless.
Traveling alone can feel lonely, but this experience made it so much better. I’d love to join again next time with a friend. Thank you shari!

We booked the camel ride, dune bashing (4x4 ride) and sand surfing as we didn’t fancy the quad bikes. We were picked up first and informed we had to collect two other couples. Collecting the other couples took 50 minutes and then we began a further 50 minutes to get to the desert. This location is basically a freeway lay-by with a very basic shack selling tat. At this location there were dozens of quad bikes randomly hacking around and disappointingly shattered out preconceived ideas of a remote desert location. There was a small paved area with plastic seats and tables. We were led to two camels between the three couples with the quad bikes in very close proximity. My partner and I got on the camel and led literally 100m into the desert, no more than 2 minutes in the saddle. After a brief photo opportunity we were led back to the starting point. It felt rather like a donkey ride at the seaside in the uk only shorter. We were then informed that we were to wait for the other couples to complete their quad bike rides and sat on plastic benches by a motorway one side and the quad bikes blatting around us on the other, not the idilic location we had in mind. Half an hour later we got back into our 4x4 and drove a short distance into a different area of the desert. We were warned to hold on and prepare for a fast and furious ride, which is what we had signed up for. All was going well until one of our party declared she felt sick. The guide passed her a plastic bag and continued to throw the 4x4 through the desert until the lady threw up and her husband shouted at the guide to stop. Not the guides fault the women clearly picked the wrong experience for her stomachs capability but it meant for a very awkward situation and meant that was the end of our 4x4 experience and we had to chug home after that to avoid any further eruptions from our fellow group members stomach. We took the opportunity to do the sand surfing at this point but were informed because of the recent rain we could only sit on the board and slide down a hill about 10 seconds in total each. We then sat on a hill to wait for the sun to go down and set across the desert. This was a very impressive sight although a little spoilt by numerous 4x4s and buggies thrashing around our location, the noise spoiling an otherwise beautiful moment. With the sun down we trudged back at a slow pace so as to avoid the further emptying of our fellow passenger’s gut. We then set about a long journey home dropping the other two couples off and our last leg of the journey which overall took about and hour and twenty minutes in a puke smelling car. So for £77 we enjoyed 2 minutes on a camel, half an hour wait in a lay-by waiting for others to quad bike, 10 minutes “dune bashing” and a sunset in the desert which felt like a scene from Mad Max as opposed to Omar Sharif. Not forgetting an argument between the puking couple and long journey to and from overall, on balance, we’d give it a miss and stay by the pool.

From start to finish our trip was fantastic. We paid extra for a private vehicle which I highly recommend Taj our driver & guide so friendly and knowledgeable, we also paid extra for our son to do quad biking which he thoroughly enjoyed, then on to the dune bashing so much fun, sandboarding, camel rides all just great. Buffet dinner was nice, soft drinks & water plenty available. Sunset over the desert was just magical to see. Entertainment was also very good at the camp, belly dancers, fire eaters & traditional dancers.!

Amazing experience from start to finish. Our tour guide Rizwan was very prompt to communicate our pick up from the hotel, and from there it was flawless all day long.
We picked up another small group after that and they were awesome. Rizwan truck is super spacious so we were all very comfortable.
We did 4x4 safari with Rizwan taking great control of the car over the sand dunes, Sandboarding and pictures in the amazing Red Dunes, then ATVs and finally drove us to the camp when we spend a few hours with the included dinner, multiple shows and more.
During all the trip Rizwan was super attentive and took pictures of us, offered us water multiple times and was always checking for us to be safely buckled up.
Great tour - recommend booking without hesitation.
When we are back in Dubai, we will book again and ask for Rizwan again!

This is by far the best excursion I’ve ever been on. My cousin and I were picked up by Awais (our driver and guide) at 15.30 from our hotel. As we went through Dubai he was pointing lots of interesting places and facts. We picked up two other couples on route to the desert, who we stayed with the whole trip. It took about 45 minuets to get to our first destination. To be honest this was the worst bit of the trip as it was a hard sell place trying to get you to purchase headwear, hire sand buggies or photos of you with a bird of prey, we didn’t partake in any of it. Awais (tour guide) kept you topped up with bottled water from start to finish of the trip. Then on to the dunes for an exhilarating 4 x 4 experience, wow what an experience, Awais was an amazing driver, phew! We then stopped in the dunes to have a go at sand boarding, also great fun. Then we drove for about 15 minutes to where we rode the camels, although we didn’t go far on them it was enough for the experience. Straight after the camels you walked straight into where we were going to eat and be entertained. Once inside there was shisha pipes, henna painting, birds of prey to have a photo with and more which is all included in the price you paid to go. The food was not only delicious but plentiful. Whilst eating the entertainment started up with a dancer with lights on (amazing) fire dancer (incredible) and lastly Belly dancers who were the best belly dancers I’ve seen. It was my birthday and they got me on stage and played a birthday song for me, if I had told them when booking you get a birthday cake presented to you. After a enjoyable day and one I will never forget your taken back to your hotel. Awais was a fabulous driver and guide for the trip and highly recommend him to anyone. All this was about £52 which for what you get is amazing value especially in Dubai. Don’t miss out.

We booked the 7 hr desert trip with dune bashing, camel ride and bbq.
Booking was straight forward and we were contacted shortly after to see if we wanted to pay extra for the VIP food and for a vehicle on our own, which we chose to do both.
We were picked up at the hotel by our amazing tour guide Abbas in a great 4x4 vehicle. He explained that we would have about an hour drive to the desert and pointed out lots of interesting things along the way. There is a stop just before going to the dunes, which I’ll mention more about later, where you could buy a headscarf and have a quick comfort break.
Abbas then took us on the dunes for the most exhilarating drive over them. My heart was in my mouth at some points but he was an incredibly skilled driver. We stopped part way and had the opportunity to have a go at sand boarding, which was hilarious. Abbas should be a photographer as he managed to get so many great pictures of all the family and was so patient with everyone. Nothing about the dune experience was rushed.
After leaving, we had about another 30 minute drive to get to the evening camp for the bbq and entertainment. The sun was setting just as we were arriving and Abbas sped to the perfect spot for us to get out and watch it go down and have the opportunity to take more pictures, which other tour operators didn’t do.
We had a 5 minute camel ride before going in to the camp and were shown where everything was. The VIP meal meant you had a table to yourself and the buffet food was brought to you instead of queuing. The queues weren’t long though so not sure it was really necessary.
The setting was absolutely beautiful with all the tables and cushion on the floor to sit on, which were all around the stage. The food was pretty tasty to be fair with plenty of meat and vegetarian options. There were 3 acts and although the entertainment didn’t last that long, it was long enough.
I absolutely couldn’t fault the tour company and our guide, who made the whole trip more fun. The only reason I have not given a 5 star review is due to the stop off before going in to the desert. Every tour operator takes you to the same one, as it seems the dune buggy experiences go from there as well and there were also camel rides. Although you are only there about 20 minutes, it is such a dirty place, that it put me off the rest of the tour slightly and I was really worried this was where the entertainment and food was going to be. I was relieved it wasn’t. There is rubbish piled high, litter everywhere. The smell from the toilets was awful. I just don’t understand why they don’t tidy it up as it’s the first place you go to and it gives you totally the wrong impression of the rest of the day. That being said, the rest of the trip was incredible and Abbas was an absolute star!

I had an incredible experience with my friends in January on a desert safari in Dubai. Our guide, Khadim, was not only knowledgeable about the area, but he also served as our dune bashing pilot. Unlike other drivers we encountered, Khadim was a bit more conservative and gentle, which made for a much more comfortable and safe ride. He was kind enough to pick us up and drop us off at our hotel. We also had the chance to try sandboarding, which was an absolute blast with a stunning sunset as the backdrop. The camel ride was also an experience to remember, especially since the poor animal probably made hundreds of rounds that day. To cap off the night, we had a delicious buffet dinner under the stars with live music at the camp. The price of the tour was very reasonable, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique desert adventure. Thank you so much!

I would normally put a 4 star but the driver Muhram Ali was the best, a nice and fun guide, that it deserves a full 5 star.
Overall great experience and excellent value trip! You get more than 4h of actual desert (if you don't count the rides to and from it).
Optional ATV ride in a small enclosed area of the desert. Probably not for everyone but if you want to know what it feels like to ride on sand it's a great opportunity.
Then dune bashing in a 4 wheel car, in a procession of several cars. I really enjoyed that part, and you will too if you like sensations in a car. Also cool to see how you can drive in the desert. Then all the cars stops in an area so that you can actually walk in the desert, take pictures and sand board. The desert is really beautiful and the sand has hues of orange and yellow. It's very dusty, the yellower sand is almost like fine dust. It usually happens rarely but we got caught in a sand storm. You get sand all over and it sticks to you, but it didn't matter, it was quite the experience. Though I must say that you shouldn't expect to be lost in the desert with only a few other cars. It's a full-fledged tourist attraction with dozens or even hundred (during peak season) of cars so it doesn't really feel like you're in the wild.
At a camp, one among many tourist camps built by the state for tourists, you'll get a camel ride for about 2mn. It was fun to ride a camel, but don't expect it to be an extended or original experience. Inside the camp itself, you'll get plenty of local food and a few shows. It didn't feel very authentic or original (you could find shows like this at home I'm sure), except for a tanoura Arab dance performed by a skilled dancer.
I definitely recommend it, it's a great value, just don't hope for something very unique or authentic.

Hello Team,
We want to do Dubai Red Dune Desert Safari 7 hours tour on 23/9/24. I am ok, but my wife is scared of 4wd sand dunes ride. Can she skip this part in the tour and do rest of the tour?
Regards,
Anoop Arya

Yes. They stop at a market and it has quad rentals and some buggy rentals. We were picked at our hotel, when you inquire they ask you what hotel right away. You can ask to just do BBQ, but your whole pick up would have to be doing the same.
