Second time for my favorite class
Visit the local market was good fun and great to have the teacher answer all our questions. The recipe are easy to follow and received clear and helpful instructions the hold way through. The class is about 15 minutes from the city by Tuk Tuk and lovely to see the countryside before the session start.
Highly recommend doing this!!

Highly Recommended! We truly got our money's worth with this Cooking Class
Sep. 2020
Moved to Cambodia for work about a year ago and I can say that cooking a variety of meals with the local ingredients available can be a challenge, especially when most apartments do not come with an oven, and I generally suck at cooking delicious, healthy and affordable meals.

There's only so much YouTube videos and online cooking recipes that one can go through until I've surrendered to eating out, which itself is an added expense (and waistline expanse) every night and week. Alas, enough of my Cambodian life story and on to the review!

I booked the class through TripAdvisor for the afternoon session, and the duration is about three hours. You get to eat the three or four dishes that you cook, and there are vegetarian options. I expected my cooking to taste mediocre but I came out cooking dishes that deserve a Michelin star!

The hotel pickup was on time at 3:30 P.M. by the very friendly and nice Mr. Hat, who gave us the option of going directly to the house for the cooking class or doing the market tour, to meet the market vendors and take pictures of the local produce. We chose to skip the tour as we have experience with the markets in Phnom Penh.

In brief:
- Very warm and friendly, family-run operation
- Very big on hygiene and cleanliness
- Locally sourced ingredients
- Very modern and clean bathroom facilities
- Well organised and professional
- Cooking instructor was very nice, patient (with myself being a slow learner), and happy to answer any questions we had.
- At the end of the class you will receive the recipes by email. So I am pretty much set for life!

For the hotel drop-off, we were unexpectedly offered to see and take photographs of water buffaloes in the nearby farming settlement.

TL;DR: This is definitely an experience that every traveler, expat, local, inexperienced cook and foodie should take up!

I had the best time at this cooking class! I booked it Th ouch OneDerz hostel and expected it to be crowded, but I was the only student with two wonderful teachers. After choosing my dishes (4) we hand-picked the herbs from their garden and made some beautiful, delicious food from scratch. I can’t recommend this cooking class enough!

Authentic cooking class in Cambodian home
Mar. 2020 • Solo
If you are looking for an authentic, fun cooking class you should come to Sorya’s home just outside of the hustle and the bustle of Siem Reap. Before you get started she will take you to a local market to shop for some groceries and teach you about Cambodian ingredients. Believe me, you will be the only tourists there! To me, the visit at the market alone was a pretty exciting experience already. :)
Right after that, you will drive to her sweet home with a modern kitchen and the herbal bed right beside the dinner table. Together, you will cook an entree, two main dishes and a desert. Sorya will give you the choice between several dishes for each course, so it’s completely up to you what you choose to cook. I decided to prepare a vegetarian mango salad, a traditional fish amok, a vegetable curry and a banana-coconut desert (everything was delicious btw!).
In addition, Sorya is super easy to chat with, her English is extremely good and you can ask her everything about Cambodian cuisine or the culture. She is a very welcoming person and if you book a cooking class with her you will support her a lot. I can only recommend this class!

Make your own Cambodian lunch from scratch with friendly local instruction

Great 3hrs with hotel pickup by tut-tut and guide.
We were picked up promptly and driven out through the countryside to a village market where we saw and bought produce, then on to a local home with kitchen garden and well appointed outdoor kitchen area
After choosing a three course meal each to make we topped up the larder from the garden then given fun friendly but correct instruction preparing and cooking our recipes
Then we sat down to taste our creations.
Word to the wise, don’t eat before you go as portions you make are big. I did fish amok, tempura vegetables and sweet potatoes with palm syrup. Yummy.
The two ladies that helped my wife and I were attentive informative friendly and fun.
A lovely round off to our visit to Cambodia.
The tut-tut drive back to the hotel was lovely insight into the country life. 10/10

I really enjoyed this culinary experience! Sorya is very friendly, we made 4 delicious recipes. The adventure of entering a local market, seeing how it works and then collecting some more ingredients from the garden, gives the activity a plus!
Cheer up !!

Very nice experience, very clean and nice place and lovely people. Even though it doesn’t seem like a very typical “locals home”.
You have many options and you can try many different meals. Food allergies/ vegetarian/ vegan is no problem.
Perfectly fresh herbs straight from the garden!

First rate cooking class experience!!!
Feb. 2020 • Friends
This cooking class was amazing!! We were picked up directly from our hotel and taken to a very local market to pick up ingredients. Our instructor, Sorya, explained about what we were shopping for, other local ingredients we hadn’t seen before, and how the markets worked. Then she took us to a home to cook. The home and cooking area were immaculately clean and there was a garden where we picked fresh herbs. They even had a small mushroom farm. We were given the opportunity to select three dishes each from a menu of about 11 items and two instructors split us into two groups (there were five of us). They did a lot of prep work to make it easier on us as some did not have much cooking experience. Their instructions were clear and the food was delicious! Even if you have no cooking experience you should do this cooking class!

Very nice cooking class :)
Miss Sovirn was such a nice cooking intstructor :) we first saw her mushroom farm and got to the real local market where we tried some local food and she showed us how they do coconut milk here and then we got back and cooked, she was really nice in explaining and we had a lot of fun. At last she showed us her "little" crocodile farm.

Highly recommended :)
