Unforgettable Galapagos trip, even after 7 years
Even after 7 years, our Galapagos trip with Rebecca Adventure Travel in September 2017 stands out as truly a bucket list experience. What made it special? Let me tell you: 1/ Personal touch: Rebecca herself handled our last-minute booking (under a week's notice!), showing real dedication for her clients. 2/ Quick responses: The team's speedy communication during planning was so reassuring. 3/ Dietary needs covered: My wife is a vegetarian and I eat everything. I was impressed with the delicious meal options for both of us throughout the trip. 4/ Clear planning: Before we left, we knew exactly what to expect thanks to their thorough explanations. Rebecca and her team worked magic to create an unforgettable adventure on such short notice. From unique wildlife encounters to stunning landscapes, every day was amazing. If Galapagos is on your bucket list, don't hesitate to contact Rebecca Adventure Travel. Their expertise and attention to detail, even with last-minute requests, made our trip stress-free and absolutely wonderful.

        A Lifetime Adventure
After countless hours of research I can say that the Samba is the absolute best way of doing the Galapagos if you want an active trip. After copious research and pouring through every ship in the area, we decided on the Samba due to its unique NW ternary which included Marchena island. The NW circuit covers a greater number of islands (more diversity of landings) than any other ship in the galapos in 8D. I appreciated the advice of other posters and agree that 8D7N is the perfect length, allowing you to go to the further islands (4D too short) but seeing just enough that you are never bored (I think 15D would have been much too long). I was on the fence between which side of the islands to do but I could not have been happier with our 8D on the NW circuit. No tour of the Galapagos is cheap, but the Samba was by far the best value of any ship. This is due to the unique itinerary and just how packed full of activity each and every day is. We snorkeled and hiked multiple times a day. Often two hikes and two snorkels on any given day. Days started at 6am and ended at 6pm. We saw everything: countless turtles, mola mola, manta rays, sharks, sea lions, orcas and blue whales. The crew went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience even if it was out of their way. Sometimes this meant hopping in the zodiacs or turning the ship around for whales that were off route, or adding snorkel sites so we could get in the water with mola mola or manta rays. Marchena which is very out of the way is only included in this internally and was one of our favorite spots as you have a basically private lagoon of sea lions. The snorkeling on the NW side was top notch, I was on the fence about doing a diving live aboard but this was probably the next best thing and the closest experience to a diving live aboard but a better option for people who do not dive or do not want to only dive for 8D. The crew were so friendly and never cut corners even during a storm or down a staff member. The captain was extremely experienced, I do NOT like staying on a boat generally but his 30+ years experience put me at ease even during the crossings. The ship is older but beautiful. The single only knock on any part of it is if you are 6 ft+ the cabins may be little tight. I was comfortable but I can see if you are very very tall it would be a bit tight. The food was amazing and plentiful, every meal had multiple parts and we never went hungry. Every step was amazing, our guide Harry was fantastic, and every member of the crew was fantastic. We loved our time with the Samba and if we ever come back to the Galapagos we will use the same boat without a doubt. We booked through CNH (they were lovely) through the cruise only option b/c they were running a promotion but you could also book with the Samba directly through Facebook. If you want a relaxed vacation this may not be the ship for you, however if you want to see the most wildlife possible this ship is the best bang for your buck and an amazing experience. The Samba was the adventure of a lifetime and I could not recommend it more throughouhly. 10/10.

        Tour of a lifetime
We did the 4 day Amazon tour at Itamandi Lodge. It was nothing short of amazing. It was our favourite part of our Ecuador trip. Our tour guide Octavio was knowledgeable, funny, and friendly - he encouraged us to try new things (tubing in the River, trying local foods) which we may not have otherwise done but were totally worth it. We loved meeting and dining with the Amazonian people and learning about their ways of life and customs. The Lodge is in the forest, by the river, and you fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the forest, including monkeys, birds, and boats going by. It was clean, comfortable, and the food was amazing! Rebecca Tours (Sonia) were patient, reliable, and communicative, and helped us select the best tour for us. The cost was worth every penny - a steal, in our opinion! Thanks Rebecca Adventure Tours!

        Our Ecuadorian dream came true!
Our trip was a tailored combination of Quito, the Amazon rainforest and the Galapagos island hopping. The team of the Rebecca Adventure Travel did a great job in planning our trip, accomodating all our wishes, and supporting us on site in Ecuador. Thanks to them and their contacts with local providers and guides, we could visit Quito with the super nice guide Guillermo, spend a few days as guests of the very friendly Kichwa community of the Napo Cultural Centre (and the great naturalist guides Sergio and Chayan), and finally use to the maximum every minute of our trip to the Galapagos islands. On every step of the planning, we could count on the responsiveness of Juan Carlos and his colleagues. Then, when already in Ecuador, we could contact the Rebecca team at any moment and we got regular updates from them. We felt absolutely secure and well taken care of all the time! Everything worked perfectly well and according to the plan. The highlights of our trip were the Amazon rainforest and the Anangu community in the Napo Cultural Centre, and the Galapagos islands hopping. We met people who lived in harmony with nature and who respected it and were very proud of their home. In the jungle, we saw more animals than we could dream of: tucans, macaws, monkeys, parrots, sloths, leaf-cutter ants and more. In the Galapagos islands, we walked among tortoises, iguanas, lizards and sea lions, we swam and snorkeled with turtles, pinguins, rays, sharks and plenty of colourful fish, and we admired frigatebirds, warblers, blue-footed and Nazca boobies, pelicans, tropicbirds and more. It was all amazing and exceeded our expectations. From the practicalities, we liked that all day trips were arranged with certified local operators, the hotels were often family-run businesses, and that everything was safe, started on time and went according to plan. We also liked that although the days were intense, we had some nice rest time too and we could explore e.g. Puerto Villamil on our own. We highly recommend the Rebecca Adventure Travel!

        FANTASTIC
This was one the most amazing experiences we have ever had! Every single person working on that boat was great. They all went out of their way to make sure we all had a fantastic time. The food was great and the cabins comfortable. Our guide Jimmy went out of his way to make sure we saw the amazing wildlife The Galapagos Islands have to offer, both on land and in the water. Everything was superb, and I highly recommend the Samba to anyone wondering about what cruise to go on! It is a smaller ship (14 passengers), which makes the whole experience more personally, which we really loved. Our only complaint is that the AC in the dining room area needs to be updated (it got extremely hot and uncomfortable in the dining room area at mealtime), putting in a fan would also help a lot.

Amazing once in a life time experience
It was one of our best travel experiences until now. The trip was very well organised, high standard, good guides, excellent communication with the organisation during the trip and the country itself is amazing! We saw so many incredible animals and landscapes and did so many memorable things. The people were also very nice and welcoming.

Rebecca Travel did a fantastic job planning, organizing and implementing our Quito and Galapagos trip! From the fantastic communication during the initial planning stages, to the excellent communication when we were traveling and the quality of the guides, tours and accommodations, I could not have asked for a better vacation!

        Good value Galapagos Trip
Rebecca's Adventure Travel turned out to be an excellent choice for our trip to the Galapagos Islands. The Islands are enchanting and should be on your bucket list. With just one exception, the guides Rebecca's lined up for us were highly informative and entertaining. The hotels were all good or great, and the people who helped us were warm and helpful. (The only thing we wouldn't repeat was the speedboat trips between islands - those were brutal!)

        Mixed review
We chose this tour because of it's outstanding reviews. I’ve often wondered if a tour company rides the wave of really great reviews and over time is less inclined to put an effort in because they have a ton of great reviews to fall back on. In our case, our trip started very well (the Isabela Island portion) and the first half was in fact outstanding. The wildlife was epic and the tours and tour guides were super professional and polite. The second half (Santa Cruz Island) however was much less organized. Honestly, it felt like a disaster and caused me an enormous amount of anxiety and stress. On two successive days our tour did not match the itinerary provided the previous evening. No warning of the changes or modifications to the list of required accessories was provided. The guides on Santa Cruz were less professional and somewhat condescending. After the first day we communicated with the company who told us they would fix this in the future but it happened again the very next day. That really was a punch in the gut. I understand that the itinerary is subject to change but those changes should be communicated prior to pick up so a person can be properly be equipped for the experience. Local tour operators did not seem to have been briefed properly on food and medical allergies which was concerning for safety reasons. Our final night we were offered a complimentary dinner for our experience. Our pick up was late, the restaurant proprietor, who did not speak English, was not briefed that the tour company was being billed, and our driver did not come back at the agreed upon time to pick us up so we had to arrange a taxi back to our hotel. If our whole tour package had been delivered as well as the first half I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and give it five stars but given our personal experience during the second half of the trip i can't personally justify it.

Epic adventure perfectly orchestrated with great staff and personnel hired to creat very encompassing view of Ecuador.
Each day we received a text of our forecasted day and guide staff met up promptly In hotel lobby. Loved over loved each person who was so knowledgeable and able to share their rich heritage. Everything from the teleforico, volcano range, cotapaxi cycling, cathedrals, virgin statue, national park, unique restaurant, square in Cuenca and flower garden was outstanding The idea of 8 different hotels in 13 days daunting but was seam free and would do it all over again.

        Best guide ever!
Our guide, Alirio, was incredible. The tour ended up just being me and my husband and we had such a great experience. It was a new way to travel for us, but wow was it adventurous and beautiful! It was nice not to have to plan anything and just to get up and get outside hiking every day.

        (Family) adventure of a lifetime...
Our trip to Ecuador & Galapagos with Rebecca Adventure Travel was amazing; the combination of being (and feeling) independent yet at the same time being able to rely on perfect logistical organisation and a wonderful group of guides / drivers / etc. made for the ideal trip. Galapagos especially, blew our minds. What an amazing deepdive into nature in a luxurious (but not decadent) and well organised manner. The trip was in fact a combination of several unforgettable and entirely distinct experiences seamlessly combined. For us, it was first Quito, then the Amazon (Cuyabeno), then the Andes (Cotopaxi, ending up in Baños) and then San Cristobal, Isabela and Santa Cruz as the Grand Galapagos Finale. Highly recommended in every single aspect ! We are forever thankful for Rebecca Adventure Travel's contribution to this experience (which we actually booked pretty last-minute as well).

Ecuador, Equator Museum, Quito, Cuenca - and our favorite GALAPAGOS JUST NOT LONG ENOUGH
Incredible tour and the agency was very attentive and accommodating. Unfortunate event we missed our connection flight to Quito and when we arrived, the following day Gloria took us to the Equator museum, Teleforica with a view of the volcanoes at 13000 feet on top of the world. Next climbed up inside the statue of virgin Mary with dragon at her feet, La compañia de Jesus (golden church) and the Basilica (also climbed the steps in the dome. This is all with us arriving at the airport at 9:30 a.m. and topped it off at a lovely restaurant down from La Compañia church. (SAN IGNACIO). Day 2 we rode bicycles around Cotopaxi. I will have to continue this review....so much to tell.

The islands were beautiful! We saw 3 islands, with the travel agency arranging everything from start to finish. Clean neat hotels, English speaking guides, transfers from island to island. The best part was the fantastic activities every day. Snorkeling at Kicker Rock and Los Tuneles is really a must! But we also went kayaking and paddle boarding. Everything we wanted to do was arranged for us. A super price quality ratio for the trip of our dreams.

My wife and I have recently been on an 8 day Galapagos Island hop tour with Rebecca Adventure Travel and unfortunately for us the whole experience with this company was very disappointing.

The tour was un-coordinated and extremely disorganised.

From the various communications we received prior to arriving in the Galapagos (from Rebecca Adventure Travel), our expectation was that this trip was a fully guided group tour with approximately 12 other travelers joining the party.

However, from the moment we arrived in Galapagos to the moment we finished the tour (8 days later); at no point in time did we actually see or meet anyone who was employed or worked directly for Rebecca Travel. The whole trip was run and operated by multiple tour agencies, freelancers, and sub-contractors. One sub-contractor (on San Cristobal Island) even told us he did not know who Rebecca Adventure Travel was! Consequently we felt like we were being pushed and pulled in different directions.

With this lack of structure and personnel continuity It soon became apparent that no-one had any real knowledge, understanding or interest of our overall itinerary and as Rebecca Travel did not provide a detailed schedule for us to follow, we were often left fending for ourselves and asking hotel personnel to call Rebecca Travel’s office in Quito to provide us with answers to simple questions which should have been covered by local guides.

Another disappointment was that this was not a group tour as advertised by Rebecca Travel. We were in fact on our own throughout the trip, and whilst this wasn’t a major issue for us, we were looking forward to interacting with other people, and for someone travelling alone this would not be much fun!

In addition, our tour plan included all meals – however, despite the fact that there are numerous reasonably priced restaurants serving great food on all the Galapagos Islands, Rebecca Travel had booked all our evening meals at eating places where there was no atmosphere and the only items available on Rebecca Travel’s meal plan was Chicken and rice or Tuna and rice! Furthermore, on one occasion Rebecca Travel expected us to leave our hotel (which was serving great food) to visit a low-end restaurant (a 15 minute walk away in torrential rain) and sit in a dimly lit room on our own… eating more Chicken and rice!

The program of activities offered by Rebecca travel on this trip lacked imagination and creativity. When you read the list of things you will experience in their promotional material it all sounds amazing… but in realty a lot of the activities are no more than a guide walking you 300 - 500 meters from your hotel and pointing to the sea and saying: “here is your snorkel trip” (and example being Concha Perla) or Flamingo Lagoon which is a small pond where I’m told by the guide the most flamingos he’d ever seen there was 12 (we saw one). There were however 3 things on this trip which I consider to be great activities, these being: Kicker rock (snorkel or dive), Los Tuneles snorkel, and Sierra Negra Volcano. The other items on this tour are nice to see but definitely not worth paying a tour company to show you.

Finally on a positive note and in the spirit of providing future travellers with some useful information I would say this: The Galapagos Islands are a fantastic destination and there are a lot of amazing things to see and do. Luckily we managed to stay in Galapagos after our disappointing experience with Rebecca Travel and we actually had a fantastic time self-guiding and exploring! So if you are considering or planning a trip to these islands, my advice is to either go self-guided, or choose a different tour company other than Rebecca Travel. It’s very easy to book activities online or simply arrive in Puerto Ayora (on Santa Cruz Island) and arrange everything with one of the many reputable companies based there. The money you will save can be spent on booking some more interesting trips (such as snorkeling and diving on Daphne, Gorden Rocks, and North Seymore) and eating great food at any restaurant of your choice! A great snorkel and diving company I would recommend is Albatross (based in Puerto Ayora). The Albatross staff are amazing, all very professional and friendly!

      Enjoy your trip!

Hi Steve, This review is a big surprise to us since all attempts to receive feedback from you were not answered. I am very sorry to read that you found the service and communication with Rebecca Adventure Travel to be insufficient. I have looked at all communication and can see that from our Quito team Leo and Adrina have always acted very accurately on your emails. On the islands of San Cristobal and Santa Cruz, Rebecca has her own coordinators, as you noticed in your hotel the first day when you received the welcome package and the extensive voucher for your 8-day trip. In addition, you have noticed that on each of the islands our coordinators were exactly aware of your program for that day. Of course we work with many different operators on the Galapagos Islands. Rebecca herself is very often on the islands to constantly find the best guides and operators for all tours, hotels and transportation. Since everything is small-scale, there is a chance that certain operators (often former fishermen) will offer other tours or tours of a different quality level. The dinners at the budget island hopping tours are basic, so you also had the choice to get 10 dollars back if you would arrange dinner yourself. We did not receive any complaints or comments regarding your dinners at the time of your tour. From Cumbaya-Quito a team of 17 people from Rebecca Adventure Travel works with the aim of putting together a beautiful and unforgettable trip for their guests. All guests on the Galapagos Islands are welcomed by one of our hosts. And as you can read in 99% of the reviews, this is extremely well appreciated by our guests. We are, of course, sorry that you had a different expectation in this case and of course offer our sincere excuses for that. Customer Care will contact you by telephone. Saludos Cordiales, Willem

We took the 8 day Galapagos Island Hopping tour in May 2019 and would highly recommend it! Rebecca Travel gave us an itinerary of planned activities for each day and recommendations for restaurants and other activities to do in the area. The format of the trip fit our travel style really well. Breakfast was provided most days, transportation picked us up from the hotel for activities, and the guides made sure we had a great time and got where we needed. Rebecca Travel was quick to answer my questions via Whatsapp and made sure we were taken care of. The activities were awesome! We went snorkeling multiple times with knowledgeable guides who worked hard to make sure we got to see all the wildlife we could. For the activities we did, the snorkeling gear was provided. We rented wet suits which helped a lot because the water was chillier than expected. We are fair skinned so we made sure to wear sun shirts, long hiking pants, sturdy shoes, water/land sandals, and wide brim hats. Make sure to bring plenty of sun block because it is expensive on the islands. Bring Dramamine for the boat rides between islands, the water can be choppy. Underwater cameras are a great to have but many of our guides took pictures and videos for us.

Rebecca Adventure travel did a great job to organize our trip. We had amazing time in Galapagos. All was organized very smoothly. Itinerary itself was very good, intensive and full of discoveries. Thank you!

Rebecca Travel arranged my tour to fit in with my flights and this was very well organised. I had half my time on Santa Cruz and the the other half on Isabella. Every day something different and amazing with helpful and knowledgeable guides each time. Being able to go to different restaurants for lunch and dinner made interesting eating and both the Zapaya and El Chocolate on Santa Cruz offered a choice - though I paid a very little amount more for the lobster! It is a very full tour but I experienced all that I wanted to see and do and more. On Santa Cruz the Fernandina Hotel was excellent but the San Vicente on Isabella was a little disappointing though both offered a good breakfast. Thank you Rebecca for an incredible trip.
