Private Traditional Balinese Cooking Experience and Garden Tour in Ubud
US$52.00
Overview
Bali is renowned for its distinctive cuisine, and a cooking class is the ideal way to sample traditional Balinese dishes. Taking place in a local home, this private cooking class teaches you the secrets of Balinese home cooking and how to create a delicious lunch or dinner with your host, and a chance to sit down to enjoy a meal with the family.
What to Expect
After hotel pickup, meet your hosts Dewa, Jero, and their family in a village north of Ubud. Explore, meet the locals, and visit orchards with exotic Balinese fruit and gardens growing herbs and spices, such as galangal, cloves, cacao, and nutmeg, used for both cooking and in traditional medicine.

At Dewa’s family home, create an array of typical Balinese dishes using a traditional wood-fired oven. Get to see how real Balinese food is cooked and learn its importance to family life and celebrations.

Make dishes, such as grilled tuna in banana leaves (pepes Ikan), chicken in a fresh turmeric and coconut milk sauce (bumbu kuning), and hand-ground corn fritters (bregedel), and pick up plenty of tips and tricks from Dewa. Finally, sit down to enjoy your home-cooked lunch or dinner with the family and experience the famous Balinese hospitality for yourself.

End the tour with drop-off at your Ubud hotel.

Dewa was fantastic

Dewa was a phenomenal host. We walked through his village, where he explained his family's lifestyle. The food was fantastic. Easily the highlight of our Bali trip. This is a phenomenal way to get out of the touristy central Ubud. A must-do!

Had a fantastic time taking this cooking class. Dewa was very knowledgeable and spoke great English. We walked through his village, while he explained all about Balinese life. The class itself was great and the food was amazing. Highly recommend signing up for this.
