- E6860YItommym0 contributionsGreat trip, amazing guide. Wished we had more time on the different spots.Beautiful and well planned tour. At chan was an amazing guide! Good and easy illustration to understand. Learned a lot and was fun listening. Easy to be engaged when we have a tour guide that cares and makes things fun. Even wrote my name in Japanese :) Only drawback I have with this tour: Too little time in Nara Park and the shrine. Wish we had more time on the different there. Felt like we had to go through it fast to catch the meeting time. Didn’t get to explore/enjoy Nara Park or the shrine to its fullest like I wished. Maybe 15-20 min more on those spots would be better? Other than that, it was a really nice trip. Would recommend for tourists👍Written October 8, 2024
- aussie_takemethere0 contributionsFriendly Fun TourGreat tour guide At Chan was very friendly and happy to answer all questions. The bus was always leaving on time at each stop and the sights were interesting to see. The traditional Japanese lunch was just that.. not to everyone’s liking if you aren’t use to this type of food, but that’s what you’re here for right! Try the green tea ice cream! Yum! Thanks for a great day.Written October 8, 2024

Most arrogant tour guide (George) I have come across in all my travels. We took the day tour with the same company in Tokyo and that was great. Kyoto ended up being a very bad experience because of this arrogant prick. From the start of the day he was making snide comments about how tourists are out to destroy Japanese culture - treats them as a nuisance to be tolerated rather than as guests. I can attest that the real Japanese people on the other hand are very welcoming and friendly. He hassled the tour participants constantly - throwing up his hands on exasperation and making gestures behind their backs. Very unprofessional. Vegetarian food on the trip was great.

We love Kyōto: the old ryokans, the sublime temples and shrines, the charm of Gion and the delicious food.
January is a quiet month and there were few visitors at the Fushimi Inari shrine. The walk up the mountain through the colourful tori was a little crowded at the bottom but there was almost no one further up the mountain. On a cool, gray day, the walk was a breath of fresh air and a chance to reflect on the wonders of Japan.

Thanks Jorge for a nice tour around Kyoto, and keeping us on track so we could hit all the sites. This tour takes you to more sites on the edge of the city because it is easy to get to places within the city on your own. We only had two full days in Kyoto, so we could hit major sites on day 1, and relax on day 2. Highly recommend.

This was an amazing tour - if your time in Kyoto is tight, then I would highly recommend this tour to visit all the main sights.
I normally prefer to go with a private guide at my own pace but knew that in order to see as much as possible, this group tour would be a better option. It turned out to be a great day.
Our guide, At Chan was wonderful - her bubbly, enthusiastic personality made the tour enjoyable but at the same time she managed to make every visit feel relatively relaxed when working with an extremely tight schedule.
Lunch was optional but needs confirming when booking the tour - everyone on our bus had opted for it. It’s buffet style and was a restaurant within a shopping centre, however it represented good value for money and the food was plentiful and freshly prepared.
Do ensure that you arrive in plenty of time for the start of the tour as it leaves on time and does not wait for any latecomers.

If you have limited time, the 1-day bus tour of Kyoto is the perfect way to see all the main sights. Our guide At Chan was excellent! She looked after us all very well, was great fun and provided her own commentary in addition to the recorded commentary on the bus. The sights we saw were amazing and if it felt a little rushed that was because there was so much to see and all the sights are quite spread out around Kyoto. We would recommend including the lunch in the package - it was delicious and good value for money. Thank you, At Chan!

This was an excellent one-day tour of Kyoto, I went with my young adult son. Both of us had been to Kyoto previously some years ago. This was a low-stress way to see some important sites again. The optional lunch buffet was well worth the extra 700 yen, since a similar buffet would have been probably 3000 yen in a restaurant. Our guide, Harry, was attentive throughout the day, including taking time to briefly chat with us and with apparently with all other tour members individually about our interests and any advice we might need. Ample free time was provided at each stop. No locations were overly crowded, since January is off-season. The bus driver provided smooth and efficient transportation.

Wonderful tour! Our tour guide Lanny was so funny and knowledgeable. We went to many of the temple and shrines around Kyoto, with plenty of time to walk around each one. We travelled between the sites by bus, which we could store our luggage on. There were options for people that didn’t want to walk too much, and options for those faster walkers with time to kill (eg. go and buy some food). The lunch included was delicious and filling. Would definitely recommend this full day tour to anyone keen to see the temples and shrines around Kyoto.

This tour was great and Tomo, our tour guide was super awesome! The best part about this tour was seeing all the amazing temples. Lots of shops and food so make sure to bring cash! I would recommend this tour for anyone that is on a time crunch because you get to see all the fine temples that Kyoto has to offer all in one day.
We aren’t given much time to shop in between each temple since the schedule is pretty tight but we went back the next day to the places that we loved. At least we knew are way around by then..
Definitely can’t wait to come back!

I was traveling with a 3 year old who was quiet well behaved in the bus , the tour guide had horrible people skills and insulated me so bad for picking up a stroller from a temple entrance with my shoes on by accident . We come from a similar culture and understand everything and mistakes can happen . He was extremely rude and arrogant guess his name was George and I think should be fired and not given a job with any company . It just left a long lasting scar on me and I hope he pays for it .

A full day of sightseeing (5 stops and lunch) over a large area. We would never have been able to do this in one day on our own. You need to be reasonably fit, lots of walking, quite a bit uphill and lots of steps. We did over 15k. The group is rather large (33) and I think may have been better with a max of about 15. Not everyone kept together and it was difficult for our lovely guide (Rie) to keep us informed about the sites while we were there. She did give us lots of information while we were on the coach.
All of the sights we saw were fabulous and we were blessed with sunshine and blue skies.
The buffet lunch wasn’t that good and there was an option to do the trip without lunch (I would recommend it and there were facilities to buy your own lunch nearby)

Hi is the tour able to provide hotel pick up ?
Written September 21, 2019
No. Kyoto is a relatively small city. It is a short taxi or bus ride from most Kyoto hotels to the tour pickup point in front of Avanti Market and Tully’s coffee, located near the Kyoto train station and bus terminal.
