About
This tour covers every part of the bamboo forest. By rickshaw and on foot! The first stop after cruising through the bustling main street is the bamboo forest. Enjoy the vivid green bamboo as your guide pulls you along the path reserved for rickshaws only, away from other visitors. Have your camera or mobile phone ready to take pictures. You don’t want to miss this. After passing by the Nonomiya Shrine you will enter the second part of the bamboo forest, which is designed like a little park. Here we can take great group pictures with the stunning green bamboo in the background. On the way to the third and last section of the bamboo forest, you will pass by a well-kept scene from the Edo period The third part of the bamboo forest can only be accessed on foot, so our guide will park the rickshaw within walking distance and then guide you to the most famous and impressive part of the bamboo forest. (To avoid the crowds here, we recommend starting the tour before noon)

    Best way to see Kyoto!
Best way to see Kyoto!! And to get the best Instagram Moments to remember a fantastic trip in a beautiful city! Aki and Taikai (ocean) Sato were super friendly guides, attentive and funny. Spoke excellent English and knew so much about the city! Pointed out many things of interest and explained history of Kyoto! They’re super fit to be able to run (while pulling the rickshaw) and talk at the same time!

Outstanding service by our driver Yuya, who also speaks fluent English with good explanation during the tour. He very attentive and has a great photography skill. Another plus point is you’ll be able to access to private path within the bamboo forest where u’ll able to have a good photo moment out from the crowd 👍

    A must do in Arashiyama!
Brought my in-laws for the whole Japanese experience: yukatas, bamboo forest and rickshaws. It was wonderful! Our tour guides were fun, friendly, very knowledgeable and spoke fantastic English! They took us to a lot of scenic spots for photographs and we even got to see a private section of the bamboo forest! Thank you Taikai Sato, we can't wait to come back again!

Love it! Toshi and Tatsu was very nice and friendly. Even though we only did a short trip they were very informative and fun. It was our first time and will probably be going back and try and see if we can ask for Toshi (I think that’s what his name is) and Tatsu. Thank you for a good tour.

My mother was visiting from Denmark in her wheelchair and we went to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest because it’s wheelchair accessible. It was unplanned that we stopped to talk to Shinnosuke on the look for directions. We quickly decided to give it a go with the rickshaw, since I wanted my mother to see the forest and area from a higher point of view, than always from sitting down on the wheelchair. We were very pleased about the tour around the ancient city and he took us places, we wouldn’t have seen on our own. Actually we only met two other tourists outside from the bamboo forest.🎋 We learned a lot from about Kyoto and Japan in general, going on Ebisuya’s excellent tour. He knew a little of every topic! We really enjoyed this and I would recommend Shinmosuke (Shinchan) Tsuji to everyone! When we came back from the tour they even fixed my mother’s inflatted wheels - what a service! Thanks to the very friendly and helpful gesture, Ueda 🙏🏻 We thank you so much for putting in the extra effort and wish you all the best. 🇯🇵🎋🥰🇩🇰
Sincerely, Suzanne & Cristina

Dear Suzanne and Cristina, Thank you very much for your long, detailed and kind review. We loved reading your review and really appreciate the feedback! We are happy that both you and your mother had a fantastic time time exploring the Arashiyama area. Riding a rickshaw definitely gives you a completely different perspective on the bamboo forest, especially when your guide takes you through the private, rickshaw-only lane, away from the crowds. Though Arashiyama is quite a large area, only few people venture away from the popular spots to discover more of the characteristic Arashiyama and Sagano area, so we are glad that you did! The rickshaw covers a lot of distance in a shorter amount of time than it would take visiting it on your own AND you have an enthusiastic guide to explain and point out various points of interest along the way. We hope you had a great time in Kyoto! Here is a comment your guide Shinnosuke Tsuji wrote in response to your lovely review: "Thank you for riding. Actually I also surprised about wheel air. I told him your Thanks and comments. I hope we meet again someday. we wait you here. Thank you." Best Regards, Guide: Shinnosuke TSUJI Staff: Larissa EBISUYA Rickshaw

Had a wonderful rickshaw ride through the forest with an English driver, unfortunately I can’t remember his name but he was amazing! It was such a fun and unique experience and he went above and beyond to show us the area and give us information about Kyoto, Arashiyama and it’s history. It was so great to have a guide who could speak wonderful English, especially when we had been struggling with a language barrier with other city experiences. Looking forward to going back and going on another Rickshaw tour with Ebisuya!

My two friends and I had the most amazing time in Kyoto with Aki and Masa from the Ebisuyas during our Arashiyama Bamboo Forrest trek! These two are absolute gems - not only did they charm us with a rickshaw ride amidst a snowy 40-degree weather (yes, you read that right!), but they also serenaded us with 'Let it Go' from Frozen, making the moment unforgettable. Their talents don't end there; they are fantastic photographers and historians, too.

To top it all off, they even provided seat warmers to ensure our comfort during the chilly trek—talk about attention to detail! And who could forget the adorable farewell sticker they gave us at the end? Aki and Masa's hard work, warmth, and thoughtfulness truly made our experience exceptional. What a lovely and unforgettable adventure!

Dear Claudia, Thank you so much for your review and taking a rickshaw tour with us in Kyoto Arashiyama. It is great to hear that you enjoyed the tour with our two guides. Our guides are multiple facets, while they are serious guides who like to share their knowledge on the area and use their photography skills, it seems you got to see their somewhat silly side as well as they sang 'let it go'. The winter season can be quite cold as the humidity makes it feel colder than the thermometers states, but thankfully the seat warmers kept you warm. Come and visit us again some day, perhaps during a warmer season? Kind Regards, Larissa EBISUYA Rickshaw

It was my greatest fortune and pleasure to have a wonderful and warming journey with the rickshaw to ur. It was my original plan to visit numerous places in Arashiyama; however, the plan was almost ruined due to extreme rainy weather. Fortunately, the photographic skills of my driver, Fujiwara Aimu, successfully captured the beauty o f the forest and fantastic sides of Arashiyama. It was also much appreciative to have an in-depth conversation with Aimu from which I learnt a lot about Kyoto and Arashiyama. But, on top of all, it was particularly heartwarming to feel the driver's professionalism, enthusiasm and passion through all of his thoughtful and caring acts, which all made up a great journey in this bad weather! For travellers who expect a lesser-known side of Arashiyama, specifically the less traveled routes, the rickshaw tour promises a highly local experience; for tourists who want to have a cozy and refreshing moment, the tour also guarantees one of the most sincere experiences. Definitely highly recommended!

Dear Perkus, Thank you very much for your super detailed and kind review of our rickshaw tours and the guide Aimu. Our tours take place rain or shine and even in very rainy weather we give tours! The rickshaw has a big roof and we will add waterproof covers so you will stay dry and comfortable throughout the ride and can therefore explore and enjoy the sights of Arashiyama without getting your feet and shoes wet. Hopefully you will return to Arashiyama again some day, preferably on a sunny day so we can show you a completely different Arashiyama then! Kind Regards, Larissa EBISUYA Rickshaw

Yuichi was a very friendly person who spoke good English. He customized our Rickshaw tour to what we wanted to do and suited our timeframe. He gave us loads of cultural/local information throughout the tour. Yuichi then gave us other information to do around kyoto and guided us to where we were heading to next.

Dear 505christinav, Thank you very much for choosing Ebisuya Rickshaw to get around Arashiyama and to enjoy the sights together as a family. Thank you also for taking the time afterwards to write the review. We really appreciate your feedback. Though the is no AC on the rickshaw, the big roof of the rickshaw offers a little bit of shade and the little bit of wind may provide some respite during this hot weather. Wishing you a wonderful rest of your trip. Kind Regards, Larissa
