The square is a symbol of the city of Izmir. The surrounding area is a gathering place for people. Its proximity to the sea has made it an attractive destination for tourists.

Good, but AC was not working properly
Overall good. In Hierapolis (Pamukkale) they give you flexible time (more than 2 hours) which you can utilize as you wish. You can spend time on the limestone pools or Cleopatra pool or the Roman ruins, up to you. I deducted one star because the AC was not working properly in the bus during the onward journey. If you are staying in central Kusadasi (from where they start) it can be total 11 hour journey for you, from 8 AM to 7 PM. Good thing is that we didn't have to change the bus.

Ephesus and Pamukkale small group tour
This tour was booked through another travel company in Turkey. It was almost like a private tour as the group was very small. Feyzullah, our guide was very knowledgeable - from the time he picked us up from the airport and throughout our 2 day-tour, he shared with us a lot of information about the region and history of the places we visited. He managed our schedule well with sufficient time at each site. Feyzullah is also a good photographer - he was fast, knew the best spots and ensured our pix turned out well. If at all, the only downside were the restaurants we stopped by for lunch during the two days - otherwise everything else was good.

    Pamukkale and Ephesus Group Tours
We booked an Ephesus tour and had a great time, we were picked up from the bus station, our guide Feyzullah knew a lot of about the history of Ephesus he was super enthusiastic & fun to be around. We booked our Pamukkale tour with the same agency had a similar experience, fun time all around. We were given 1-1.5 hours time for photos which was plenty. I would book with this agency in the future, special thanks to our wonderful guide for his insight and humour

    Ephesus day tour
Today...just wow. We started off by paying a visit to the house of the Virgin Mary - a very moving experience regardless of ones’ faith. After our visit to the house of the Virgin Mary, we headed to the Ancient Greek/Roman city of Ephesus. And I was every bit as amazed as I thought I would be, and more. Outside of Italy, this 2,300 year old city is the best-preserved example of classical Greco-Roman architecture. And it goes to show how far the Romans stretched their influence; to here and further down to the Holy Land. Our guide Yesim did a fantastic job walking us through the city and went to great detail explaining the different areas to us, painting a very vivid picture of how this city once looked, sounded and felt. After that we paid a visit to a local pottery manufacturer where the family-owned business was more than happy to show us their wares, and give us a demonstration of the very traditional way in which they still produce their fine work. After that we went to Soçuk and visited the remains of the Temple of Artemis, and behind it the remains of the Chapel of St John, who was believed to have been buried at the site. For a majority-Muslim country, it’s amazing how well they preserve the Christian landmarks in their country, as well as all of the other historical wonders, and it’s a great example of how the Turkish people embrace those of all faiths. Thank you Yesim for a wonderful day, and thank you Castle Travel!

Summer or Winter When to visit?
During the summer I don't advise anyone to visit this clock tower area because it's very hot. For night times you can go there and view around. My honest view is nothing much to see there. This tower is surrounded by official buildings. Instead of this area just keep walking on the backside of the tower and go have a coffee at Kizlaragasi Hani. Again saying during the summer don't visit this area when the sun is shining. The only best side of this place is it has a ferry station ( named Konak iskele ) nearby and it will connect you to the other side of the sea ( Karsiyaka ).

    Bodrum Castle
Bodrum castle is closed for renovation and will not re-open until 2020. This also includes the underwater archeology museum. The castle was the reason for our trip to Bodrum. None of the local websites stated it was closed.
