Arrive at AquaRio, located on Praça Muhammad Ali Gamboa at the Port of Rio de Janeiro, around 15 minutes in advance of your 9:30am entrance time. Entering South America’s largest aquarium 30 minutes before its official 10am opening time means you’ll beat the crowds and observe the enclosures without huge crowds of tourists.
Marvel at seahorses and starfish in smaller tanks. Stroll through the shark tunnel, gaze at more than 3,000 animals, and learn about different marine ecosystems from around the world at 28 different enclosures.
At the touch pool, children can touch sharks and rays under the supervision of aquarium employees, and fans of surfing can learn more about the history of the sport at the on-site Surf Museum.
The cafe and gift shop also means visitors can purchase refresh and take home unique marine-themed souvenirs for friends and family.
