First up, this is a mountain bike tour. We do not offer tours by e-bike. Be prepared to pedal! Setting off from Korcula you’ll pass by beautiful countryside, vineyards & olive groves whilst enjoying fantastic views of the village, archipelago and the Peljesac channel. During a couple of rest stops (make sure you bring water) we will share with you local knowledge about the area and answer any of your questions. Towards the end of the bike ride, you’ll head to two family-run wineries to refresh & reward yourself with delicious wine grown in the area. This includes tastings of Grk, a unique and flavoursome white wine originating from Lumbarda. Traditional appetisers will be served at one winery to accompany your wine tasting. Once joyfully filled with wine and snacks it's time to head back to Korcula Town. And relax at ease, we will provide a transfer for you and your bike – so no need to worry about cycling back after a few drinks. Please read below about the bike ride difficulty.

Important note about the cycling. Bikes are mountain bikes. We recommend that you have a good level of fitness and experience of riding a bike. You will cycle around 10kms and this includes several hills. The route may include some unlevel surfaces and off road terrain. Keep in mind as well it gets very hot on Korcula, especially from late June until the end of August and you will be cycling in the sun. We would class the ride as moderate but the hills and heat can be more of a challenge for some people. Although the ride is leisurely, we just want to ensure you will be comfortable to complete the ride.

The Best of Korcula
We loved our Taste of Korcula Bike Tour! My friend and I only had a weekend in Korcula and chose this tour as our first experience on the island. John was an entertaining and well-versed guide, sharing his love for this Croatian island with us as well as his and his wife’s desire to help other local businesses where we stopped along our route. We enjoyed everything about this 6km trek, from the beautiful landscape to the food (honey, figs, jams, and almonds) and drink (local spirits, Grk, and other wines). We highly recommend booking a tour with Korcula Explorer!

Lovely afternoon - pretty views, wonderful people and great treats
We had a wonderful afternoon with John biking around Korcula, trying all kinds of local treats. It was appreciated that he takes you to some of the smaller establishments where you get to spend time with the makers of all the wonderful products. The bikes were in good condition and the cycling wasn’t too strenuous. We definitely had a good time!

Fantastic wine tour!
My husband and I went on this wine tour a couple of weeks ago and it was fantastic. John is a great host, really knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Korcula and the wine specific to this region. We lucked out by sharing our tour with a group of three American friends who were travelling together and an American girl part way through her European trip, along with John hosting they were all great company. It really was a perfect way to spend an afternoon, drinking some lovely wine in two of the most friendly wineries I’ve visited and learning more about this beautiful country and its history. Highly recommend Slurp of Grk if you are looking for a chilled out wine tour experience and keen to try some fab wines!

An excellent wine tour in Korcula !
We did a great wine tasting tour in Korcula with Rachael / Korcula Explorers. Rachael was easy to deal with while planning the tour and she did an excellent job explaining how they grow the grapes and what makes the Korcula wines do special. I always they and find unique experiences when we travel and this is one of them. If you plan on visiting Korcula, I highly recommend you contact Rachael and book this tour.

Fun day on the self guided tour
My husband and I did the self guided bike tour to Lumbarda. We had a great time and enjoyed the sights pointed out on the route and the included glass of wine at one of the wineries. The self guided tour guide also included a link to their Korcula Island Guide which we found very useful with all kinds of information on Korcula. We found one of our favorite restaurants, Ignis, during our month long stay in Croatia via that guide.

Great time had by all
Very enjoyable food and wine tour. Small group, everyone friendly and we had a great laugh about all our holiday's experiences. Guests even attempted to learn our Yorkshire dialect! Would recommend the tour to everyone and was very well organised and run by our up-standing and erect (🤣) English host Rachel.

A highlight of our holiday!
We booked a private Taste of Korcula tour for our honeymoon, and it definitely did not disappoint! Our host Rachael was really lovely and took us to multiple places to try food and drink, including honey, wine, and local treats. Everything was delicious and it was so interesting to learn how the food and drink was produced. We purchased several items to take back with us! By booking the tour, we also received a Korcula guide that included brilliant recommendations for restaurants and bars on Korcula, which we used a lot during our time there. We would highly recommend booking with Korcula Explorer!

This was one of the best tours we've been on - an off the beaten track bike ride through olive trees and vineyards. The wine tastings were very nice and John was a great guide and companion for the trip!

Perfect afternoon with delicious food and wine
My husband and I absolutely loved the afternoon we spent participating in the “Taste of Korcula” bike tour hosted by John and Rachael! The bike tour was not too intense—though you should have some experience on a bike and there are some hills. And all of the stops were wonderful—this is a perfect way to learn more about Korcula’s agriculture and foodways, and to see some of its beautiful countryside. We especially enjoyed the time we spent on Ivan’s farm. The entire experience, which included a honey tasting on the outskirts of Korcula and wine tasting in Lumbarda, was wonderful. This was absolutely one of the best experiences we have had in Croatia—or anywhere, for that matter. John and Rachael are kind, engaging, and gracious hosts, and there is no better way to spend an afternoon. I would absolutely recommend any tour that Korcula Explorer offers!

A taste of Korcula
Really fun walking/wine/local food tasting tour. John is fun and made our experience feel like we were with a group of friends. Short drive to a couple of tasting places, then short walk to a winery. Gin, honey, sweets, wine, cheese! This was a fun time and we highly recommend booking a tour with Korcula Explorer.

Wonderful Tour with John!!!
This was an absolute wonderful experience seeing the “countryside” or korcula. The communication from start to finish was seamless. I was over confident in my biking skills and unfortunately couldn’t make the entire journey but John was quick to set up someone to come get me and drop me at the winery’s that the group was headed too. The wineries we went to were local korcula wineries and so charming! On top of the that, the other three couples on our tour were so fun to talk too. Hands down WONDERFUL experience!!!!!!

Fun Tour
These kinds of trips are supposed to be fun and this one certainly was. John is a good guy who is entertaining and fun. My wife and I had a great time. The ride was scenic and the wineries were delightful. PS: John claims his wife is an even better guide than he is.

Really great excursion in Korcula!
Rachel is great! The entire tour went off smoothly even though thunderstorms were forecasted by the end (and we made it just in time!). We started our bike tour in Korcula town and rode across the island into Lumbarda area. We rode on a bunch of surfaces, main roads, dirt roads and through vineyards and villages. The biking isn't strenuous and very enjoyable. The views are great and you're able to stop in the vineyards for pictures. We biked to 2 different wineries and tested some great Local Croatian wine and snacks- oh the fresh figs! The group was only 8 people and such a great way to meet others who have a same interest in biking and traveling, and drinking good wines. Rachel was very knowledgeable and so genuine. So happy we did this tour. Would recommend this tour over and over again!

A ride with a view and some wine on the way.

An amazing afternoon ride and wine tasting with John. His knowledge of the area and the wineries was sensational as was the scenery. Highly recommend taking this trip, great way to see a very special part of the island and to visit some local family run wineries.

Great way to spend half a day!

Excellent experience from start to finish! Absolutely stunning bike ride across the countryside going through a variety of unique terrains from olive tree fields, to vineyards, to unbelievable elevated landscape views of the Adriatic and nearby islands. John did a great job setting expectations for the difficulty level of the ride and stopped frequently to ensure enjoyment for all. The bike ride led to two charming and breathtaking family owned wineries where we had many wine tastings accompanied by divine cheeses, meats, olive oil, and more over conversation with the great people we met on the tour. We were all having so much fun that after the taxi back to town, we all stayed out and had drinks together. John was so much fun throughout the entire trip and also provided us with a thorough online document of restaurant and bar recommendations not only for Korcula, but also Hvar, Split, and Dubrovnik. This tour checked all the boxes and I would highly recommend! Thank you!

The Perfect Day!

May 2022

We had a magical day pedaling through the vineyards, sipping wine, and belly laughing with John. He led our group of 8 college friends, now in our fit 50's through a carefully planned route from the city center to the lush countryside. Our group's consensus picked this trip as our favorite day on our 10 day adventure. Come prepared to ride a bike and enjoy fantastic wine, snacks and conversation. Thanks to John and Rachael our new friends!

Fantastic Ride & Wine Experience

Our guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable of the area with many interesting stories.
The route was good and challenging in some spots due to terrain and the heat.
The Vitis Winery had some tasty wines and very friendly & knowledgeable owner hosting. Food was delicious and generous.
Ended with a stop at the beach, so remember to bring your swim suits & towels.
However, we thought we’d be going to more than one winery since it called a tour.
Our host made arrangements for a return trip via a van, for 30€ as we were exhausted from the heat.
Excellent experience!

I'm glad you had a good time on Korcula, however, this review is not for our company as we do not take people to the beach on our regular tours and our Bike & Wine Tour includes 2 winery stops and a return transfer is included in the price of the tour (as we don't cycle back to town after the wine tasting). This is an odd but informative review. We were signed up for a bike wine trip today- fully paid for in advance. The weather was threatening- but they could have insisted we go through with the trip. Honestly we really wanted to- but had zero interest in pedaling through the rain ( should it occur). They offered the option of taking a van to the wine tour- which didn't appeal to us. They gave us a full refund. Not optimal for them ( no pay) or for us ( not their fault but really wanted the activity) . I give them 5 stars for the way things were handled.

Amazing time with John and the group!

This was definitely a highlight of our 4 days in Korcula. John creates a really fun atmosphere and our group stayed over an hour past the end time because we were having so much together. The bike ride is lovely, a few hills but nothing crazy. It was pretty warm, so make sure to bring a big 1.5 litre water. The wine tasting and snacks were fabulous and the scenery is unreal. Thanks John!

A real treat - do this!

We had an amazing last evening in Korchula doing this tour with John, 2 Canadians, 2 Aussies and us. It was still hot at 4pm, but cycling down to Lumbarda through the countryside was lovely. Not a strenuous cycle, but John did stop in the shade along the way to give people a break and to talk about the land. The bikes were good quality hard tail mountain bikes, in excellent condition. The 2 wineries provided samples of their 4 wines each, some nibbles and information about their grapes and the history of their wines. We sat, overlooking Lumbarda on the terrace thoroughly enjoying a super end to our holiday (oh, and who knew that 'Grandmas' homemade sugared orange peel goes nicely with wine!).

Just perfect

John is a brilliant guide/host.
We were a mixed aged group of friends ( the oldest was 81} At every stage John was very clear you should stay within your comfort/safety zones. which meant we walked up a couple of hills and walked down a slope.
For most people this is a well thought out easy cycle ride. The wine tasting was superb . The host vineyards are lovely people. The views are lovely as is the wine and the food.. If you are looking for a fabulous afternoon ..book now...you will not be disappointed.

Amazing bike and wine tour!

Our group of eight had a perfect day with John on this wonderful tour. Riding through the vineyards of Korcula with amazing views and wonderful wine was amazing. An added bonus was John and the informative, fun conversations woven throughout our experience. Couldn't think of anything to improve upon or add. Was just what we hoped for and more! Thank you John for taking such good care of us and enabling this great experience.
