Booked this tour, received confirmation and we were eagerly anticipating a fun if expensive day trip. Less than 1 hour beforehand the trip was cancelled. Informed the trip was full, which was known by the organisers at 8pm the night before but Alen Greblo stated "sorry, we were out" the night before. Very poor Alen. I am sure this has been the negative experience of many.

We booked wine tasting and truffle hunting but Alan also included honey and olive oil tasting for us, we were treated to an amazing 5 star experience all day, within the most beautiful settings that you wouldn’t find on your own, with expert explanations including personal and geographical historical information, we have done many tours over the world but I will remember this for a very long time, it has made us want to come back to Istria and to see and experience more. Thank you Alan

We had an amazing day with Alen and his friends throughout Istria on the Truffle hunt and wine tour. Everything was magical, from the truffle hunt and meeting the dogs, to the generous portions of olive oil, wine and delicious local foods. One day is not enough, we will be back! Thank you for an enjoyable experience!

our guide Alen is a force of nature. His passion and knowledge of istrian wine is immense, we were schooled on the ways of malvazia wine, and given the privilege of trying an old teran, and a plavec-teran mix, the only one ever made. the olive oil tasting was with an award winning house ! highly recommened for the serious foodie, who only expects the best. we ended the trip on a sweet note with dessert in a local konoba, in the small village he grew up in. what more does one needs ........

Our day started really well, Alen was a knowledgable and friendly guide. First vineyard visited, lovely wines and very good varied tasting selection. On the tour we booked we had been promised, on the website a three course homemade Istrian meal at one of the vineyards we visited. The price of 225 euros each for two of us, reflected this element of the tour in our view. As the vineyard wine tastings where generous and the wines varied, we expected a taste pairing with the meal. I think actually less wines and a better selection of foods to enhance the wines would be better.We went to enjoy and learn, not to just drink large quantities. Maybe others don't? However on our trip no three course meal was provided, just two more small cheese and ham platters, one with a few tomato bruschetta. This was very disappointing and not as advertised. It was a real shame, because the vineyards visited were lovely. I would advise anyone booking this trip to check with Alen as to wether a three course pairing meal, as advertised on his website, is going to be happening on their visit to avoid any disappointment.

A fabulous day, just book and enjoy it! We are so glad we booked this day out in Istria with ThisisIstria. We hopped in the car and said "whisk us away for a day out" - and that is exactly what he did. Alan is a great tour guide, the ideal blend of local knowledge and fun. (And also a good and safe driver, which is something to appreciate after some crazy-scary Italian taxi rides!). We had an interesting truffle hunt with Nicola, a small-vineyard experience with the shy passion of Dean, a beekeeper/honey experience thanks to translations from Alan (interesting to compare with our beekeeping experience in New Zealand), a gorgeous truffle-infused lunch in Livarde, and another generous wine/olive oil tasting in Ipsa. So much food, wine, olive oil, conversation and fun with Alan, we would totally recommend it. This has positively influenced our remaining days in Istria, and we will definitely tour with Alan again when we return to Istria. Just book and enjoy...

We had such a nice day. Our ride from Rovinj to Livade was month and comfortable. We were not expecting to find truffles with Nikola as we new the season was late but we loved the walk, the dogs and learning from someone who was so passionate. The rustic vineyard was fantastic, lunch was amazing. The truffle shop Figanti was authentic with fresh truffles for sale. Also, a valuable life lesson, 2 minute no audio! A lovely, day in the company of someone who loves what they do. Highly recommended

It was the best experience on Istria. Private coocking lesson means fantastic day with great people, tasty food and excelent wines. Fully recomended also for family with children.

The best day!! Started off with truffle hunting, then moved into wine tours, honey tasting, and olive oil tasting. Lots of snacks and drinks and Alan was the absolute best host. Can not recommend enough!! 10/10 experience

My sister and I have booked a weekend getaway for our parents, and have given them the perfect present. Their host and guide - Ingrid, impressed them tremendously as she has provided them with a unique wine hopping experience, that was not only delicious but educational as well. The wine was paired with perfect bites and lovely company of their guide and local winery hosts. Ipša, Bertoša and Aura are the perfect destinastions for a one day visit and just the right amount of "tasting" that was well planned by their tour guide.

My wife and I returned from Croatia this week. We spent a few days in Istria, wanting to explore the region's vineyards. Prior to the trip, I reached out to This Is Istria. Alen was very communicative and provided a flexible and affordable itinerary, including a pick-up and drop-off at our hotel in Rovinj. Alen organized such an amazing experience. We visited three gorgeous vineyards, met a winemaker, and reveled in the incredible Istrian countryside. Alen went above and beyond: getting us extra tastes, sharing his deep knowledge of the area, offering to help pay for wines when the credit card machine was down, and even meeting us for an additional drink off the clock! If learning more about Istrian wine and enjoying a truly special experience is on the list for your next trip, I highly suggest This Is Istria for a wine tour.

We spent a perfect day with Alen, visiting 3 very good wineries and enjoying great food. Through his good contacts with the winemakers we were able to taste every wine we were interested in. We liked the wines so much, especially the Malvasia, that we also bought several wines directly from the winemaker. We can recommend this tour to any gourmet who appreciates very good food and wine. We will come again!

My husband and I had a fantastic day with Alan, who gave us a private tour of Istria. We were staying in Rovinj and wanted to spend a day wine tasting and seeing the countryside. He was the perfect host and guide, speaking excellent English (and at least 5 other languages!) the whole day was just us allowing a flexible experience… we went to a family truffle farm, a small family vineyard, a vineyard with gorgeous views, met a local bee keeper and tasted honey! And went to a medieval town for coffee. What a day! Thank you Alan for showing us an amazing time, being so kind and showing us beautiful Istria.
