OUTSTANDING
Jul. 2021
If you visit Guayaquil you have to take this tour!!! Mario, the tour guide, is beyond friendly. He makes everything to make the tour great. We had a great experience, bus is in good conditions, clean and driver is very good. We visited the cocoa farm, we made our own chocolate bar, eat a 3 course lunch (farm to table) and enjoy a very nice cocoa drink. Everybody at the farm was very nice with us. We recommend this tour.

Outstanding experience
Jul. 2021 • Couples
The trip to the cocoa farm and learning how chocolate is made was fascinating. Lunch was extremely good. 3 courses of wonderful food. Last, but not least, the tour owner and guide, Mario, is outstanding. Very knowledgeable and he made the total experience well worth it.

What a great and fun tour
We had a private tour for 3 of us in Dec2020. Mario was amazing tour guide. He is still running very safe tours during covid. We went to the cocoa farm and made chocolate and tasted so many local foods with chocolate. Lunch at the farm was delicious. On the way back we did few stops in the city including watching iguanas at the park.

We highly recommend this tour!!

Sustainable tourism at its best
Dec. 2020 • Solo
This experience was so heart-warming and truly one of the best that Guayaquil has to offer. The exceptional reviews are accurate, as Mario is an expert guide and as welcoming as they come. Even in times of Covid, I felt safe as everyone was careful and wore masks throughout.

For my tour, we went first to a family-owned Cocoa farm, where Mario introduced the production of cocoa from seed to plant to fermentation to roasting, finally selecting some beans to grind and prepare as chocolate to eat ourselves. The farm is beautiful and the family was so gracious. My only regret is not also buying the meal option, as Ninfa (one of the daughters of the family) is a wonderful host and would have prepared a delicious vegan meal for me if I had specified. Most of the family food is grown or raised right on the farm, including the spices and flavoring. For the second part of the tour, Mario drove me around the city and highlighted the sites I hadn't been able to explore on my own.

I will recommend this experience to everyone when I return home, and hope to meet them again someday. Thank you to Mario, Ninfa, and Alberto for an incredible experience!

Must-do experience
My husband and I loved this experience! We were picked up from our Airbnb and driven to a fruit market then to a local cacao farm. We were taught the process of making chocolate from fruit to commercial product. Our experience included a delicious and filling lunch from the local family who own the cacao farm. Our day ended with a tour of the city. Mario is a great host, he not only went above in beyond to make our experience authentic and unique, but he also taught us about Ecuadorian culture. I would highly recommend this experience and any hosted by Mario!

Highly Recommend! The friendliest guide and tasty chocolate!
Sep. 2020
I did this tour on September 23, 2020 and I cannot say enough great things about it. To start with, Mario and all the staff at the cocoa farm wore masks and had everything clean and sanitized throughout the trip. Not once was I worried about COVID as everyone took the best precautions and ensured safety. Mario was so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about not only the agricultural aspects of the farm but the historical aspects of the city. He was also very flexible to adjust the tour to parts that I hadn't already explored. I highly recommend Mario and the rest of the tour options through his company - My trip to Ecuador. You will not be disappointed!

Lovely day on family cacao farm and informative city tour tailored to our needs
Mar. 2020
We arranged this tour based on the positive reviews Mario got on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed! Even though it was a rainy day, we had a great time at the cacao farm learning about and sampling various chocolate products. Nympha was delightful as she described her family processes. Mario was our guide for the process in general. The lunch was tasty. We had already seen several sites in Guayaquil city, so Mario tailored his stops to our needs and desires. All in all it was a great day to end up our tour of Ecuador!

MUST DO TOUR!!
Jan. 2020
Mario was AMAZING and so informative on this tour. We had a full day (January 24) in Guayaquil ahead of our Galapagos trip and he picked us up promptly at 10:00 a.m. to begin our day. There were no other guests and our first stop was at the farm where we learned about the process of making chocolate and even made (& tasted!) some ourselves! While there, we enjoyed a gourmet meal prepared by two of the young women who live on the farm. This meal was one of the finest meals we ate in Guayaquil. Following the farm visit we went back to Guayaquil for a city tour. We had mentioned we were interested in visiting Ecua-Andino for a Panama hat. He took us there first (which was terrific!) and then to the city for a walking tour of the highlights. It was simply a perfect day and great visit to Guayaquil. Thank you Mario!!
