What to expect
  • Your driver will meet you at your New Delhi hotel, where you’ll depart on a 30-minute ride in air-conditioned comfort to South Delhi for your private walking tour. Start your journey at Yogmaya Temple, where your local guide will greet you upon arrival. Wander the grounds of this impressive Hindu temple, which is believed to be one of only five remaining temples from the Mahabharata period. Enter the impressive interior and listen in as your guide describes Phool Walon Ki Sair—the colorful festival that takes place here each year—and learn more about the goddess Yogmaya this temple is named for. Next, travel on foot to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Qutub Minar. With a towering spire stretching 238 feet (73 m) into the sky, this red sandstone and marble mosque has the tallest minaret in India. Get an up close look at the ornate exterior, which is covered in detailed carvings of text from the Quran (Koran).  Depart Qutub Minar and take a 15-minute walk to nearby Mehrauli Archaeological Park. Your guided walk through the historical monuments and crumbling ruins will provide a unique look at the city’s past. Your guide will explain the significance of the Tomb of Ghiyasuddin Balban, as well as several other key attractions in the park. Finally, ride in air-conditioned comfort in your private vehicle to the Chhatarpur Temple. Covering an area of approximately 60 acres (24 hectares), this complex is one of the largest in the nation. Learn about the South Indian architectural influences that are evident in the marble façade and explore the shrines with your guide who will explain the significance of deities like Maha Gauri as you walk. Enjoy a traditional Indian meal at a local restaurant before returning to your New Delhi hotel by private vehicle.

South Delhi heritage tour
Today I had an amazing tour of South Delhi Heritage sites
The entire day was great, but the highlight was spending most of the morning at the Mehrauli Archeological Park, which housed the remains of a mosque complex and the Qutub Minar
My guide was very knowledgeable, and I learnt so much about the history of India and Delhi, as well the history of the archeological site
I totally recommend this tour

Mediocre
I like the arranged plan and I picked 9am departure time. There were not lot of visitors in the park. We later went to two Hindu temples. I was in town during the nine day festival, I had chance watching a lot of singing. That was very nice. The disappointing part is the tour guide. I love history but we didn’t stay very long at the archeology park. Whatever information he provided in the park, I can easily get from Wikipedia. He seemed to be uninterested and constantly talking on the phone. I was the only one on this tour so it is not a heavy day for him. He told me that I could take pictures of deities inside the temple. When I took picture, everyone was yelling at me for doing it. He also disappeared half the time during lunch. Not sure if this is OK professionally. The driver is nice. I stayed at a hotel on a very busy street. I was happy that he took the time trying to navigate narrow ally ways so he can get me right to the hotel, instead of dumping me at nearby intersection like some Uber drivers did. However, on the way back, most time he was yelling loudly and angrily at someone on the phone. All in all, I would recommend the tour if you are lucky to have a good guide.
