About
India is blessed with the largest of Himalayas range in its country. Unlike Nepal, treks and hikes here are not so crowded and gives travelers a chance to indulge more into rawness and wilderness of the greatest mountain range of the world. Here is a basic 5 Day itinerary of hiking in the grand Himalayas in eastern belt of the mountain range. This itinerary can be included or added while your visit in Kolkata , Darjeeling or Gangtok. Same trip in 3 days can be done , if air transportation is opted for. Tickets are cheap from Kolkata to siliguri in flight. Coming to this region and not tasting the happiness of climbing himalayas or getting intimate with it, might be regret , you build upon later. Hence i highly recommend this. Trip to Darjeeling & Calcutta.
We took a week trip of Calcutta , Darjeeling and a hike to small village of Tonglu in the seven days span. We wanted to walk back to the colonial days , since we were interested in the British history and heritage that is left in India. In depth knowledge of Deep while on tour gave us a good perspective of the colonial days and life. We even went to see where Job Charnock landed in Kolkata! It was totally worth a trip. Darjeeling was beautiful with it's Himalayan experience and the hike to Tonglu was amazing as we saw some of the highest mountain in the world so up close. The landscapes as well as history , they have got it all. My parents are already planning a same trip and I would definitely recommend this !

        Amazingly Guided trip in Himalayas
We planned for Tonglu hike with Deep. It was a great trip, with an amazing local guide and expertly handled trip. The hike was made easy with great briefing and knowledge that guide shared throughout. The homestays provided were very beautiful and comfortable, which was our concern due to very off beat locations. All in all a happy tour. Would come back for another trip.

        Best guide
We took a heritage walk of Kolkata and it was one of the most in depth informative tour about the city. Experiencing stories and legends of bygone days , made the walk come alive and was super fun. Definitely recommended and will come back for a full tour and trek in Himalayas surely.

Amazing knowledgeable guides and wonderfully handcrafted tours!
We took a two days trip of Kolkata and then on to the Himalayas of Darjeeling. Deep suggested a offbeat trek, and it was the particular jewel of the trip. He makes sure , you enjoy and learn both in the trip. He's a fantastic entertainer, and never a dull moment on the trip. The tour exceded our expectations and I am glad , we took the advice of Deep to customize our trip plan, rather than following general itinerary.

What a hidden Gem, not really on the Tourist routes but it should be
We stayed at the Oberoi Grand, which is in the old down town area of Kolkata, and is a lovely old star 5 Star Hotel. The Hotel organised a car and Guide for us which was a great day exploring Calcutta. My wifes family ancestor Job Charnock founded Calcutta in 1690, and we were able to visit his Mausoleum in St Johns Churchyard where he was buried ( The Church is a copy of St Martin in the Fields in London). We also visited then Victoria Memorial as truly spectacular building styled on St Paul Cathedral . We visited all the old East India Company Buildings and also Palaces and Temples. A Wonderful day trip. We also too a River Cruise on the River Hoogly ( Ganges) which was fascinating. They have so much history in Calcutta we were surprised there were not far more Tourists.
