Overview

Rather than grapple with the metro and take your chances on the night, book in advance for this original tour. It combines one classic Shanghai experience—a Huangpu river cruise—with one very modern Chinese experience—a feast of Xinjiang (Uighur) food. You benefit from the services of a private guide throughout.

What to Expect

Meet your tour guide and private driver at your hotel lobby and transfer to the Pearl of the Orient Cruise Ship Terminal to embark on your river cruise. To your west lies Shanghai’s past, the Bund, the Peace Hotel, and more; to the east lies the city’s towering future, among skyscrapers like the Shanghai Tower.

After your cruise, your guide will accompany you to a Xinjiang (Uighur) halal restaurant. Taste foods like lamb kebabs, yoghurt, flatbreads, and “da pan ji”, a spicy chicken dish. Enjoy evening entertainment, perhaps a cultural dance or a belly dance show, before your guide drops you back to your hotel—or whatever central Shanghai destination you prefer.

A great day in the city!

After exploring Shanghai on our own for a couple of days we decided to book a private tour. What an excellent decision! Getting to see the sights (garden, tower, river cruise) was great, but our guide absolutely made the experience worthwhile. Alana was super friendly,...More

The Best Way to Experience Shanghai

You cannot go to Shanghai and not experience the Shanghai Night River Cruise. If you think the skyscrapers are breathtaking in daylight, catch them at night when it's all lit up. I went onboard the Oriental Pearl Cruise

This tour can be done in the rain. We traveled everywhere in a van, so rain would not be an issue, or in the restaurant. The river cruise would not be as pleasant. There was plenty of indoor and covered areas on the boat... More
