- D2463POjoelb0 contributionsWhat a fun day in Costa Rica! This was a fantastic outing. Our guides, Ken and Corry, were knowledgeable, fun and encouraging, the latter with respect to some of the waterfall jumps. We had a great day with them, had a ton of fun and learned along the way about Costa Rican culture and natural beauty. Overall, a great experience.Written December 9, 2024
- 391shuchig0 contributionsSurreal, as adventurous as you want it to beA short hike to the waterfall, followed by swimming and cliff jumping from various heights. My husband did the lower falls jump and loved the adrenaline rush, while I opted for a smaller jump in the upper falls. Rasta (Roberto) and Ismael were excellent guides and really made us feel comfortable and safe. Ismael also gave us some great historical background on our car ride to the falls, and he and Roberto showed us how to make organic clay masks at the falls. They were the best! Also, we got to birdwatch afterwards while eating lunch, which was delicious and could be made to accommodate a vegetarian diet.Written December 7, 2024

- stephenmH4745IN0 contributionsAdventure of a LifetimePaddle 9 are phenomenal. Ismael, Alejandro, Flaviola, & Mambo were kind, fun, informative, caring, and made us feel incredibly supported all along the way. They also got me up the waterfall safely to have the jump experience of a lifetime. Elian was an excellent photographer at a very reasonable price, capturing every moment for you without constantly reaching for your phones, and Gumi the driver navigated those windy roads like a champ. Highly recommend this experience to everyone... the waterfall is breathtaking beyond words, and Paddle 9 are the only crew to do it with.Written December 7, 2024

- Jet7075660 contributionsPerfect Family Activity in Costa RicaMy kids and I had a fantastic time with Paddle 9 today at Nauyaca Waterfall. Despite challenging conditions with tons of water from recent heavy rains, our tour guides Ken, Corey, and their team, showed us a great time. My kids aged 8 and 12 said this was one of their favorite activities in Costa Rica. We swim under the waterfall, had mud masks, and ate a tasty lunch of arroz con pollo. The tour was very professional and informative. Thanks for a great time!!Written November 21, 2024
- elisabethmN6922XD0 contributionsTruly immersive experience in the mangrovesMy husband and I did the Paddle Board Mangrove tour and had a blast! Disclaimer: You’ll see in the pics that the water is brown - that’s because Quepos had experienced unusually heavy rainfall that week, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the wonder of the mangroves (and it was extra motivation to not fall in! Lol) If you really want to experience the mangroves, the Paddle Board tour is where it’s at. We went through some canals (where boats don’t have access to), hung out in the heart of the mangroves and ate fruit, ducked under branches, and saw lots of wildlife: Crabs, snails, lizards, and white face monkeys! DK & Ismael were our guides - they’re awesome! They are very knowledgeable, passionate about the environment, and super fun to hang out with. They took lots of pics for us and were also super patient whenever I was unsteady or slow moving.Written November 16, 2024
- davidpS1918LD0 contributionsHoneymoon Waterfall TourMy wife and I had an amazing time touring the Nauyaca waterfalls through Paddle9 tours!! Our guides were DK and Ken and they were so much fun! They made the car ride to the falls a breeze with all their fun facts and history of Costa Rica. (Plus their choice of tunes was on point) The hike to the waterfalls isn’t bad at all, they even found a poisonous dart frog, and explained what walking trees were. Then they provided an amazing lunch after the falls, honestly it was so good! We highly recommend this tour and if you’re lucky enough to get the DK/Ken combo you’re in for an added bonus.Written November 8, 2024

FUN! FUN! FUN! Thank you Paddle9 for the best excursion of our vacation. Paddle9 was able to handle a group of 21 individuals ranging from ages 17 - 60+ with ease. Each guide adapted his encouragement to meet the needs of our individual participants and that is what made all the difference. I highly recommend Paddle9 and if you can, request Matty, Benny, Ishmael, Andres, Tom, and Alvaro as your guides. These guys made sure everyone was safe while having fun. Thanks for the adventure!

Honestly, this tour ended up being so much more than we expected. We are a young couple and were looking for some exciting activities and this one topped the list. Jumping from 3 different waterfalls, playing in sea caves and eating lunch at a farm to table restaurant...what else could you want?! Everything was on time, the guides were amazing and made us feel safe while having fun the whole time. You can tell they love what they do and it really shows. You can buy pictures at the end (around $15 USD) from the professional photographer. I would recommend this option as bringing your phone isn’t easy and it’s risky of it getting lost in the water etc. Be in the moment and pay for the photos, they are well worth it! We even got to look through all our photos first before buying them. We paid and got the photos within 20 minutes and there are 102 photos just of us! So awesome...I can not recommend this company enough!

Our fit family of four, including two teenage boys, enjoyed the full day Nauyaca waterfall adventure. The driver arrived ahead of schedule (our itinerary showed an 8:45 pickup) to pick us up at our hotel and gladly waited a few minutes for us to finish our breakfast. After a brief stop at the office to sign our paperwork we were off for the day. Gustavo clearly outlined our expectations for the day and we even included our recommendation for the 'driving playlist' to listen to music on the 40-minute drive to the falls. We made quick stops for fruit and our passes to the waterfall before starting our hike.
The 40-minute hike was enjoyable and challenging, but not strenuous. We were each supplied with a full litre of water and were quite glad that we carried little else with us on the trek.
We arrived at the beautiful waterfalls and took pictures at the top first. We then went down to the lower waterfall to swim and jump into the cool water. There were many people there, but it never felt crowded. Gustavo always had an eye on us as well as our belongings. After receiving mud masks, snacking on mango and oranges as well as a final dip in the water we walked back to the small bus for our return trip.
We had a very large lunch at about 3 o'clock in Quepos before retuning to our hotel for almost 4pm.
It was a full and fantastic day. Thank you Gustavo and Paddle9!!

The BohemianYoga Retreat that I was a member of visited Paddle 9 and did a day tour to visit 4 or 5 waterfalls on Feb. 12. Tony, Ariel and two to three other tour guides led our group. These tour guides were very professional and provided a safety briefing that was done with such precision and motivation that for a moment, I felt like I was back in the military. Tour guides were so enthusiastic about jumping and yet concerned about each and everyone’s safety in my group. I have a fear of heights and I don’t swim. The tour guides coached me and when, I jumped the they were right there to help. One tour guide posed with us. Best water tour, I have ever been on. If you want to have fun book this tour.

I felt as with many Costa Rica tours it was overpriced. I did think it was allot of fun, well organized and for the most part safety conscious. Our tour guide was full of energy and enthusiasm.
* I think you need to book a day the tide is out in the late morning to enjoy the caves & beach better, otherwise the tour should do something else at that time.
* I believe at the biggest waterfall it would be much wiser to just let the people go down the “waterfall slide” only and NOT allow jumping off the cliff; it’s an major accident waiting to happen and almost did!
Take your camera with you so you can get photos, they try to have you not take it as they have a photographer that does photos at a cost; this I felt was a big inconvenience at times.

My wife and I wanted to plan something special on Valentine's Day and we decided on the all day waterfall tour. We were lucky enough that no one else signed up to do that excursion that day so we had two guides to ourselves named Alvaro and Claus. These guys were great and really made the day feel special for us. They answered any questions we had, shared culture information throughout the day, and really made us feel like we were hanging out with friends. They took us to 3 different waterfalls where we got to jump/slide into fresh water pools and then took us to an authentic Costa Rican lunch where we had fresh, organic tilapia raised right next to the restaurant. We ended the day on a beautiful beach that looked similar to a scene in a Jurassic Park movie. You won't regret doing this experience and we highly recommend requesting Alvaro and Claus, you will not be disappointed!

What can I say. Bar none some of the most exciting and professionally run travel activities I’ve ever experienced. Paddle9 tours and tour guides are all top notch, and the attention to detail is phenomenal. My first excursion a shuttle picked me up and once seated inside, a tour guide faced me and asked if I had any allergies or dietary restrictions. A wave of shock overcame me because I was immediately transported to memories of fine dining restaurants and white linen table cloths where the sharpest and most attentive servers in the service industry ask you the exact same questions in just the same way. Right away I was in awe and from that point on my expectations were consistently tossed out the window or in my case, thrown off a cliff. Guides' knowledge about the area and experience in this very specific line of work was fascinating to hear. If you ever get a chance to go, you should. The beaches are beautiful and the rainforest is calling!

We did the waterfall tour with our 5 year old son and 18mo daughter. Although it's probably geared towards older kids and adults we did a tour with paddle9 7 years ago and we were eager to get out with them again. The guides were the most amazing at including everyone in the group at varying levels of adventure seeking. What an incredible tour to add on to the vacation. They were hilarious, professional, and so knowledgeable, they kept the group engaged + entertained the entire day. Such a great value because they also include fresh fruits anddddd a delicious farm to table lunch at an organic farm. Can't say enough good things, we will remember the memories today for a lifetime. 💯 Percent worth it. It's a must do for anyone visiting the area! Get out of your comfort level and JUMP!!!!

Tour guides made us feel safe even when doing extreme things. They were also surprisingly knowledgeable about wildlife and history. They even found my goprp at the bottom of a waterfall after I lost it. I had such an incredible time! The final waterfall was plenty high even for an experienced jumper like myself. The tour guides put on a show before you left each location throwing crazy gainers and such. Could not have asked for a better day. And it was all documented by seriously professional photos and videos for an affordable price!

Wow! I can’t say enough good things about this tour, Matt and Ismael. From start to finish, the entire experience was really great. Matt and Ismael were so wonderful - encouraging (when I was scared to jump) professional, fun, etc. They made the entire experience smooth, exciting, and such a thrill. Ismael took his time explaining each waterfall and what to expect. He did each jump before us so he was always there waiting in the water when we were ready to jump, and assured us that if we weren’t comfortable, there was no pressure. He was comforting and assuring and really just the best person to be with during this experience! Matt drove us to each waterfall and played such fun music on each drive. He was knowledgeable and so easy-going and fun to talk to. He even took all of our photos so we didn’t have to worry about not capturing anything and got to see our jumps! The two of them really made the experience feel like we were with friends. After the waterfalls they took us to a delicious restaurant, where I might have had the best rice of my life. After lunch we visited Playa Ventanas and saw a really neat cave-like part of the ocean (see picture).
The entire experience was so pleasant and just much fun and I would recommend Paddle9 to anyone visiting Costa Rica and looking for some thrill and fun.

What should we bring with us? Can we bring a backpack? Towels? Water bottles? Can normal clothes, and personal items be kept safe and dry?

You would need to wear your swim gear under your clothes and for sure wear water shoes. They provide water, snacks, and lunch! You need your phone for pictures and yes your belongings will be safe!!

We spent the full day with Paddle 9 exploring the hidden waterfalls in Portalon, Uvita, and Pavon, then ending the day at Playa Ventanas. The guides were very knowledgeable… a must do if you come here! The photographer, Matt, was amazing too. I’m so glad he came along to capture this memorable day.

Written May 26, 2022
Nauyaca is a separate tour.

We are a group of 12 but have 2 seniors that have limited mobility. One has poor eye sight too. Is there an option for them to not have to walk much if at all?
Written February 20, 2021
I’d like to book for tomorrow morning but understand there has to be a minimum amount of people for the waterfall experience, is there or should I find something else?
Written February 3, 2020
There are two guides, a driver and a photographer for each tour, so I imagine that there is a minimum number of clients required. However Paddle 9 is a very popular company and we only had six people in our group, so you should be fine.
Written February 4, 2020
Where is the meeting location or a good place to park? I’ll be driving from Santa Ana in the morning for this experience.

Paddle9 has an office in the town of Quepos. You can park and start the tour from there.
