Half-Day Whale Watching Tour From Monterey
Take an exciting ocean adventure on this whale-watching cruise from Monterey. You might see gray (most common), humpback, and blue whales as they migrate along the Pacific coast, along with sea lions and dolphins. Hear commentary from your naturalist guide, and get photo ops of the scenery at one of California's premier whale-watching destinations. And because the tour lasts just a half day, you’ll have time left for sightseeing.
What to Expect

Make your own way to Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey to board the boat and meet your guide, a marine biologist or naturalist.

Hear commentary about whale behavior and the natural history of the California coast, as you look for gray whales, which are the most frequently sighted species. If you’re lucky you may see blue whales or humpbacks as well. Any whale-sighting data collected will be used to help track the health of the species’ population.

Learn how to spot whales and dolphins, and get advice on making your best photos and videos of the wildlife. Your cruise returns to shore by 1pm, leaving you ample time for other activities in the afternoon.

Mark and Melissa visit the whales

We had a wonderful time and the team was very knowledgeable. We liked the smaller boat that got you lower to the water. The whale behavior was spectacular!

Great Outing: Knowledgable, Friendly Crew, Personal Feel — Well Worth the Price

Selected Discovery after a little online research and determined their schedule fit ours, and equally important, we liked that they are a fairly new, small, independent operator that runs a relatively small boat. We didn't want one of the fancy-shmancy double-decker "tour" boats for whale...More

Sorry not sure how far from where you will be docked but all the whale tours go from The Old Fisherman's Wharf off the pier from 09:00 in the morning.

It’s my understanding that the whales frequent tje bay year-round and that yes, September is particularly good. But I’d also suggest a little research to verify this.
