    VIP ticket worth the cost!
It was an easy day with not much thought involved. Our guide was knowledgeable and helpful. The tour was really informative and stepping onto the production sets was great. Park was crowded but no waiting in line for VIP. Food at lunch was great too.

    Worth it
Well worth going VIP to skip all the lines! Great experience, nice host. It was a little rushed through as they have time commitments, but that's just the nature of a super busy park.

An amazing day , thanks to Elias for making it even more memorable
An amazing day from start to finish . We started at 9am having a breakfast whilst waiting to meet our tour guide Elias. Check in was easy and all points were explained fully. Elias then managed the day for us, ensuring we maximised our rides and stayed in time to I take full potential of the day. The gourmet meal was a buffet , but with an excellent choice of food. The best part of the day was the studio tour where you can get off the bus and see behind the scenes which was a real eye opener. Elias was the perfect host and he made the day for us. Finishing with waterworld , which is an amazing show. Highly recommended if you’re visiting for the first time .

Universal VIP Tour - A Fantastic Tour
Wow what an amazing tour we went in May 2024 and was lucky to have Chris guide us, he started with explaining the tour itinerary for the day, and off we went.. Chris had a lovely demeanour and was knowledgeable and approachable (if we do the tour again we’ll be requesting Chris). Hard to pick highlights of the tour but I’ll try.. 1. Great not waiting for the rides 2. Great having our own plush tour bus 3. Walking around the movie sets was great, especially with Chris sharing knowledge about the sets and the background of some movies being made. 4. Great walking around the props warehouse 5. Great food and service (nice touch having Dracula making interesting conversations while having lunch!) I could go on and on, the whole tour was worth every dollar. Traveling from Ireland, I hope to go back one day… Thanks Chris and Universal.

    Not that great
Poor cousin of Disneyland Fun enough day out but would have been disappointed to go in high season and wait in lines for rides. Roller coasters, raft ride and the transformer ride were standout Paid for the early entry but only one ride available. Other than that it’s just shops

Showed up when gates opened and had plenty of time to do everything in one day. Express line tickets are worth it as rarely any wait times. An enjoyable experience.

Extremely overrated and no value for money
Extremely disappointed with the content vs money we paid for express tickets. The only part we enjoyed was the Studio tour and somewhat the Jurassic World ride … the rest was just kiddy. Food is expensive and not much choice for vegetarians. We will never go back. Our teens said they will not even return with their children…lol

    Amazing
My favorite ride is the Hulk coaster because it isn't too fast and there is only 1 drop-down but it is only for maybe 2 seconds

    Wonderful day
An amazing day! Loved every bit. We paid the extra for the express pass and that was 100% the best call! It took our wait times to 0-10 mins, instead of 30-45 mins. We were there on a Friday, so the crowds weren't too bad. The place was clean, the staff were lovely, and looked happy to be there. We took the online advice, and went to the lower lot when we first got there, then made our way to the upper lot to finish. We were there 9am - 7pm, then looked around the City Walk mall afterwards for a bit. We managed to get on every ride during that time, but could have spent more time looking around some of the areas. If I went back again, I wouldn't bother with the studio tour, but it was reasonably interesting. Would probably be better if you're a real film buff. You definitely get wet on some rides (jurassic park, waterworld show) so consider a poncho or towel/change of clothes. The waterworld show was absolutely fantastic - don't miss it. There were water bottle refill stations around. Despite what the info on the website says about taking food in, the lunches and snacks I'd made at home were not confiscated at the gate. Food in the park was expensive, as you'd expect, but there were some items that weren't too bad, i.e. a hot giant pretzel (delicious) that was $6USD.

Be a real life VIP and make the most of your day in Universal Hollywood
This is brilliant, well worth the money. First up you arrive and the valet takes your car, all included. A short walk to the entrance and there is a VIP entrance where you get your passes and then go upstairs to relax with some breakfast. Whilst there we met Doc Brown and saw Dracula on the prowl. After 30 minutes our guide Danielle S met us and said we would gather together at 10.15 where she told us the plan, and got to know everyone and what their priorities were on the tour. Soon after we were whisked off to the tour. Our VIP trolley was shared with another group of 12 but when we got off they did their thing and we did ours. And yes we got off 3 times which you do not do on the normal tour. We saw a props warehouse, a set for Quantum Leap and got to walk in town square whilst the nornmal tour drove by. Sadly due to 60th anniversary construction we did not see Earthquake, the movie cars and the flood but we were more than happy that we had a good tour with Danielle and in a small group of 1 tram which is stocked with complimentray water. Tour over Danielle suggested we did Harry Potter before lunch, and stright to the front we went. She looked after any bags and waited with anyone who did not want to ride. The Forbiden Journey is very good but the Hufflegruff rollercoaster was not the best and over too soon. But HP world is WOW, better than Galaxy Edge IMO. Our daughter loved it and I think the adults did a bit too. So to lunch which is normally at Moulin Rouge in the park, currently closed we went out of the park to Margaritaville which was nice after the recent passing of Jimmy Buffet. And a buffet is what was on offer, plus a choice of 3 or 4 main courses which were very nice. Unlimited soft or hot drinks but you can pay for alcohol too. OK you are out of the park but the 1 hour window was more than enough and we also got to see behind the scenes again going in and out of the park with Danielle. A quick chat and our guide said how about this list of rides and things, and it was then pow pow pow as each one was knocked off including Mario which you can only queue jump as a VIP. Off to the Watereold show for 5.15 and reserved VIP seating too. Danielle bid us farewell (she was great) and we used our passes to go on anything VIP style for the rest of the day. Look these parks are hard work, long days and not always as fun as they look. It can be tough being out 12 hourd trying to do everything with kids and in the hot sun. But this VIP pass made it a super chilled experience, one I would pay to do again. And overall we really liked Universal Hollywood. Perfect size, the shops and bars outside better than Downtown Disney and everything so clean. Only gripe is alot of the rides are screen based simulator sort of things but the best ones are very good none the less. Go to Universal and be a VIP, you won't regret it especially if you have 1 day only to go there. Thanks Danielle S, and Zan too.

    Fun day at Universal
Have been to Universal a few times over the years, and coming from NZ so I wanted to make the most of it and so have always booked the express pass. It is good although I found most of the queues this time weren't that large (other than Mario karts and the Simpsons), however, great to be able to go straight to the front of the line on all of the rides (except for Mario karts). Some great fun and rides, my daughter loves Harry Potter, Jurassic Park was awesome, Studio tour great and the Water World show is spectacular. Food is ok, nothing special. I think if you're a local then maybe the express pass isn't worth it but flying 11,000kms from NZ I didn't want to spend my time queuing so is worth it. Note it doesn't apply to Mario kart- bowsers challenge ride. The queue was about 75 minutes but we used the single rider line and got on in 10 minutes. This ride was a bit a off a letdown, its ok but nothing great. Still enjoy it as a fun day out but 1 day is more than enough If you're doing Disneyland as well I'd recommend moving hotels to be closer to Hollywood/downtown LA as there are a number of things to do close by without having to have the lengthy drive or Uber from Anaheim

Big day out at Universal Studios
Big day at Universal Studios, great attraction, great weather. Not crazy busy. Lines weren’t too bad even if we’d had regular tickets. But Express made a difference as we rode almost all the rides some multiple times. Staff very friendly. Great costumes to match the rides. Food available was average. Better sign posting of attractions and park map would help. Otherwise well worth it. Park tour was a highlight for me.

Like their Halloween event but not as bad. For Halloween, you will enter the park right when they open and lines will be 60-90 min. Within an hour of the event being open, the lines will be up to 2.5 hours. Universal should be ashamed of themselves for the greed they exhibit. To have people pay so much money and only be able to go on 2-4 mazes the entire evening is just wrong. I am convinced that the fire department would shut this event down of being overcrowded but they have their OWN Fire Department, so nothing will be shut down. The place is going to have a major disaster one day and a lot of people are going to get hurt because there are just too many people in that place to exit 4 turn stalls. God forbid there is ever a fire or earthquake;

I have complained to Universal about the safety issues more than once.

I will save a copy of this message for the day when a disaster hits them and people are trampled on. Do not bring your little ones to this park. It's not safe.

Dec 2019 • Friends
Went to Universal in December 2019 for a guys trip and had a blast. We didn’t have any skip the line stuff and still had no problem hitting every ride during the day. The Hogwart’s ride is by far the most popular so we did a run for that first thing and then just looked to see what ride had the shortest wait time and headed there.

The park has excellent WiFi coverage so download their app and you can see wait times etc.

One piece of advice, if you buy clothing, try it on at the store. I bought a shirt a size larger than I normally wear and when I got back home couldn’t even get it past my shoulders. Totally my fault for not trying it on there.

As it was December the park was decked out in Christmas decorations and they had The Grinch there and do a tree lighting show at night too. Quite well done.

The lines are too long and they let in too many people: no bueno!!!!! Covid infection rates are spiking and we were packed in there like sardines.
We bought the tickets through the official website: $134 of pure robbery… we were there around 9:20 am and able to do one ride. As people started coming in the lines were just too much: even my two 16 year old sons gave up after two rides….. i expected a better time for the money we spent. Big disappointment.
Universal Studios you are way too greedy: let less people in so they can actually enjoy the experience!

Really enjoyed the resort and learning more about how movies are made. For adults I think it needs to be a little bit cheaper than children because there is more for kids than adults to be honest. Overall it’s a good day out for a couple/family.

It was unbelievably overcrowded. Possibly 300% overloaded. Wait times was 2+ hours on all rides and express tickets sold out. They also closed down all single rider lines early in the morning to accommodate oversold express tickets. Most horrible experience ever. Why would anyone pay 300$ for this including express when Disney offers much more for less and more meaningful crowd control. Best ride in town Resistance has only 90 minutes when mediocre ride times 3 hours in this park. This is week of Dec 28th 21.

A real ripoff - 140$ (560$ for 4!) to spend the whole day waiting inline and just a few rides completed. What a waste of time and money!
There are indeed very few attractions for the number of tickets sold, hence completely overcrowded ; and even less are hardly worth the wait. Quality is overall quite low, queues have virtually no animation or decor making the wait boring.
All waiting times are systematically underestimated as all “express” folks will freeze the general queue as they proceed, and they are many! We were always standing still with the queue not progressing ; 60’ wait time announced on entering, ending over 180’ actual time!!! Never seen anything like this !
Plus on many attractions you have to leave your bag in (tiny) lockers (sometimes for a fee!) to access the tour and you finish your waiting 1h in the heat with no water. A real nightmare!
To complete the picture, without any mention of maximum height, and after 3h of wait I had to step out of the Harry Potter ride because the restraining bar was pushing hard on my shoulders and the attendant pushed down even more, arguing that it should go 2 clicks further! What kind of entertainment is this ? Torture ?

The park used to be really worth it 30years ago for movie enthusiasts, but now I do not recommend this park at all, unless you are ready to spend 300$ per person to get express pass. Never, ever again as far as I’m concerned.
Save your money and go to the beach! Or go to Disneyland Paris or in any Europe park where things are far better organized and the guys know how to make your experience enjoyable, even in the crowds.

Purchased nearly $500 in tickets in the beginning of the year through a special groupon deal....I contacted support to see if they would refund or extend my ticket beyond a year as everyone in my group is immunocompromised. At first I was told no and then the person admitted they don'tknow anything about my ticket type. I kept contacting them to have policy reviewed and no response for weeks now. They haven't done anything with my ticket type and I may have to eat that cost, which is especially difficult as I have been furloughed since early April.

Update August
I have been in touch with customer support who are attempting to rectify the situation. Appreciate the prompt replies and dedicated customer service.

Spent one day at this park. Had made several visits to the sister park in Orlando and was pleased with those trips, this on the other hand we will not repeat. We purchased early entry for the Nintendo experience as our young son loves Mario. Entered the Mario Kart ride and did our thing within the first half hour of the park opening for a great start to the day. We tried to enter and do it again knowing the demand and the wait was already 90 minutes just after 7:30 am which is what we were trying to avoid. Didn't do it the rest of the day as the wait times are obscene. Not only that once 8 am hits the Nintendo area of the park is unbearable, especially as hot as it is this summer in California. They really need to either build a bigger area or limit the number of people entering. That part of the park is great visually, but really a let down when it comes to execution. Be prepared to drop another $40 per child if you want to have the full experience as you need a micro chipped Mario wristwatch to enjoy the features. Same concept as the Harry Potter wand only lamer. About 9 am we headed out to the rest of the park. I tried to buy some yogurt at one of the restaurants. Made the purchase and then found out there weren't any spoons. Was told I could look for them at other food stops in the park. Uh no I won't and certainly not for a $12 yogurt that should cost no more than $3 outside the park. Just obscene greed at this place, it's utterly disgusting and a HUGE turnoff. Also bought an $18 refillable cup for soda, powerade, etc only to find out that Universal refuses to restock the machines with ice or drinks only lukewarm water and the queues at the restaurant are so long that it's pointless anyway. Did not get one refill out of the deal. We rode less than 10 rides the entire day (we were there over 12 hours) throughout the park and paid over $2k between lodging and park tickets. The studio tour was great as the wait was short and the ride interesting, but that's the only positive I can say about the ride experiences. We also visited other parks during our visit to Southern California that did not gouge the customer in such obscene ways that Universal does. California is expensive, however this Universal location is even beyond that. We as a family all agreed that we will never go back.

Universal studios was a lovely visit! So much fun. The park was clean, employees were kind and courteous, and the snacks/food were available when needed.
We purchased the admission tickets with the universal express addition. It can only be used once per ride per day. On hind site- we didn’t need to spend the extra money because the lines were short and the park wasn’t crowded. We went on a non holiday Sunday. But we considered the express purchase an “insurance policy” in case it was super crowded on the one day we were able to go.
LA county law states that masks must be worn indoor AND outdoor in public settings at all times. The park staff did a great job of enforcing this without being rude or overbearing.

Wondered if we needed more than a one day pass but we didn’t. At this time of year (January) lines were fine and we got there for the opening and spent whole day, leaving just on dark. Rides were great. Glad we didn’t get talked into getting VIP which would’ve cost an extra NZD$1000 approx for five of us
