Universal studios was a lovely visit! So much fun. The park was clean, employees were kind and courteous, and the snacks/food were available when needed.
We purchased the admission tickets with the universal express addition. It can only be used once per ride per day. On hind site- we didn’t need to spend the extra money because the lines were short and the park wasn’t crowded. We went on a non holiday Sunday. But we considered the express purchase an “insurance policy” in case it was super crowded on the one day we were able to go.
LA county law states that masks must be worn indoor AND outdoor in public settings at all times. The park staff did a great job of enforcing this without being rude or overbearing.

We had a great day here. Despite it being a Sunday of a long weekend the park was not overcrowded and we were able to experience all shows and rides and the hour long studio tour as well as take time for a lunch break in Citywalk and then ride our favourite rides a second time. This was a nice contrast to Disney which seemed to always have horrible queues for anything decent.

The park was very clean and beautifully decorated. Loved touches like the Moaning Mrytle voices in the bathrooms in the Harry Potter area and the entertainment from the windows in the Main Street. Covid testing was efficient though it would make sense to start this an hour before the park opens rather than at the same time when everyone is trying to get in.

This is a perfect one day park. Shows are both excellent. There are not a large number of rides but they are generally of high quality. Harry Potter area is wonderful and the whole park has such a beautiful aspect looking out on LA. Parking is $30 in a covered tower. Much better value than the parks where it’s $30 to park outside on the tarmac. You can also attend the park with the Go pass which makes it great value.

If you have been to Universal Studios in Florida, it is likely you will be a little bit disappointed with the Hollywood version. While it has a ton of “street cred” since it is Hollywood and they are actually filming movies and TV shows here, the theme park portion really feels light on offerings for the price. Once this park is busy, it is also a nightmare to maneuver around and you should expect to need to buy express pass if you want to attempt to do everything in one day. A lack of full service f&b offerings is a huge miss and what they have for quick serve will be slow with really bad lines. For some reason they also have very limited operating hours which can frustrate the situation even more. Sure, the tram tour is awesome - but know what you are getting into.

Like their Halloween event but not as bad. For Halloween, you will enter the park right when they open and lines will be 60-90 min. Within an hour of the event being open, the lines will be up to 2.5 hours. Universal should be ashamed of themselves for the greed they exhibit. To have people pay so much money and only be able to go on 2-4 mazes the entire evening is just wrong. I am convinced that the fire department would shut this event down of being overcrowded but they have their OWN Fire Department, so nothing will be shut down. The place is going to have a major disaster one day and a lot of people are going to get hurt because there are just too many people in that place to exit 4 turn stalls. God forbid there is ever a fire or earthquake;

I have complained to Universal about the safety issues more than once.

I will save a copy of this message for the day when a disaster hits them and people are trampled on. Do not bring your little ones to this park. It's not safe.

The lines are too long and they let in too many people: no bueno!!!!! Covid infection rates are spiking and we were packed in there like sardines.
We bought the tickets through the official website: $134 of pure robbery… we were there around 9:20 am and able to do one ride. As people started coming in the lines were just too much: even my two 16 year old sons gave up after two rides….. i expected a better time for the money we spent. Big disappointment.
Universal Studios you are way too greedy: let less people in so they can actually enjoy the experience!

It was unbelievably overcrowded. Possibly 300% overloaded. Wait times was 2+ hours on all rides and express tickets sold out. They also closed down all single rider lines early in the morning to accommodate oversold express tickets. Most horrible experience ever. Why would anyone pay 300$ for this including express when Disney offers much more for less and more meaningful crowd control. Best ride in town Resistance has only 90 minutes when mediocre ride times 3 hours in this park. This is week of Dec 28th 21.

Our family had a good time at Universal. We got there about 15 minutes before opening and they actually let you enter the park. We went to the more popular rides early before the wait times got too long (Harry Potter, Hagrid, Mummy, Jurassic Park…), which was a good strategy. The wait times on the app are relatively accurate. The rides are tamer than those at Six Flags. There are no extreme rollercoasters/rides — they’re more like Disney rides/experiences. There are tons of motion simulator type rides. General parking was expensive at $30, and the food was expensive (and the tickets were expensive). And when my husband ordered bottles of water - not realizing that they had 2 different brands at different prices — they didn’t ask which one he wanted but automatically gave him the more expensive “premium” bottles of water (inconsiderate money grab), and he had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for his beer (he had to go back to the window to ask for it - I think they forgot about it even though he paid for it). Overall, it was an enjoyable day. We were able to do everything. We’re glad we went, but won’t feel the desire to go back anytime soon.

I read about the long lines and was prepared to wait longer than usual in order for my daughter to celebrate her 13th birthday at Universal. When I arrived at the park, I thought about buying an Express pass to make her experience a little better. I was shocked when I was told the pass would be $170 per person. I only paid $129 for the admission ticket. I decided that $299 was way too much. What I didn't expect was to be turned away from lining up... once lines reached a certain wait time, you are told you will not be able to join the queue.

If you know anything about the Lower Lot, there are only three rides (Jurassic, Mummy and Transformers)... and it takes a couple of escalators (and some time) to get down there. I rode the Jurassic ride and went over to the Mummy ride only to be turned away. I went to the Transformer ride and was turned away. Soon, there were droves of people collected in the small common space waiting to get access to the rides. (Of course, no one was going to leave and ride all the escalators back up!) At that point, none of the rides were accepting individuals to join the lines. I felt that this was a super spreader waiting to happen! You could find unmasked folks and people elbow to elbow because there is no place to go.

I immediately felt unsafe and made my way quickly to the escalators. I am sure this is a violation of the LA country public health orders and I am not sure how they have been permitted to keep operating...but more importantly, why hasn't Universal has done nothing to rectify this? I would expect Universal to put some funding and stricter guidance in order to provide a safe experience for all. I know the company has had rough times because of the pandemic, but this is no excuse for not investing in the safety of their employees or the public.

We always rate this park much better than Disneyland, mainly because the wait times are much better and the rides are always working, while Disneyland has massive issues with broken down rides. This time, the Transformers ride broke and was operating at half capacity, it took an hour to get through, and it was irritating. Then the Waterworld show was cancelled in the afternoon , i don't think so. People are paying over 100 dollars to get into this park and ANYTHING being cancelled is not acceptable.
Then we get to the food and shopping, outrageous come to mind. The food is absolutely unreasonable, so we avoid it at call costs but the shopping has become an absolute outrage, 14.00 for a keychain, not happening. these are made in China and cost next to nothing to make, this is what we call gouging the customer - again, not acceptable. Parking, now 28 dollars, I think not. When you have already spend over 100 dollars each, now we have raised the parking to this level ? Again, management needs a real adjustment if they think 28 dollars is anywhere near acceptable.
Sadly, unless they get it together, we will not be spending any more money at this park, there are many people in this country that are barely getting by and these prices make it impossible for them to come here. We are not in this group but do believe that gouger the public in an absolute disgrace. Time for some changes !

We had a pretty good experience over all, but the crappy attitude and service of Christopher (S3695) in the wand shop really negatively affected our entire experience and made our kids sad. He’s a real jerk.

We opted to pay up for the very overpriced interactive wands for our kids to enjoy. As soon as we stepped outside to try them, one of the wands was defective and wouldn’t work. Literally right out of the box at the first spot outside the window. We went back inside (less than 5 minutes) and Christopher pretended not to remember us, He then accused my daughter of breaking it. She started to tear up. He begrudgingly offered a “one time fix” and wouldn’t even help and show her what to do to make sure it works. His attitude was horrible he was so rude. I’m sorry but for over $120 for 2 wands that maybe cost $5 to make, that’s unacceptable. Do the right thing, just give us a new one and apologize. He basically said it would be our problem once we left.

Furious by his attitude and lack of empathy we demanded our money back. He said no refunds with a smirk on his little jerk face. We weren’t going to let that happen so we demanded a supervisor. She was better to work with and finally did refund us, but offered no apology whatsoever. We left so angry and our kids were so disappointed. Harry Potter was the reason we came and it was such a bummer. Every time we saw other kids with the wands (that worked) they were sad again. That being said, I witnessed several other kids with wands that weren’t working right either, so there is obviously problems with your product. You need to update your policy, train your staff better and fix your product.
