Overview
If you visit the San Andreas Fault independently, you’re likely to miss fascinating information about the site’s geology and history. On this Jeep tour from Palm Desert, explore one of the most famous faults in the world with a naturalist guide. You’ll see an oasis on the fault that’s fed by an underwater spring and visit a Native American site to learn about early inhabitants of the area.
What to Expect
This San Andreas Fault tour by Jeep starts with a pickup at your Palm Desert hotel. Your driver takes a route through the Coachella Valley as you make your way to a private reserve for your tour.

Once there, board an open-air Jeep, and take off with a naturalist guide through the San Andreas Fault. Your guide tells you interesting facts about the geology of the area, pointing out desert landscapes, wildlife, and an oasis that’s fed from an underground spring.

Next, head to a Native American site where you can learn about how the Cahuilla tribe survived living in the harsh desert climates. Also hear stories about the history of American and European settlers, too.

Lastly, walk through a canyon while listening to stories about the Pacific and North American plates and how they affect earthquakes.

Your tour ends with a drop-off back in Palm Desert.

A Treasure in our own Back Yard!

Such a fun morning! We did the San Andreas fault tour, with guide Lane Romans, and were enchanted! Now, I'll have to say that Lane's energy was a little over the top, at 8am on a Monday morning after White Party, but within minutes her...More

I would agree with Dianne's response (which seems to have disappeared, but...). They do ride off-road, however, it's a big jeep holding 6 people plus the driver's cab and the road is well maintained. I also agree with... More
