What to Expect
Meet a guide at Plaza Murillo, where you start the tour with a light snack as you take in the plaza’s colonial-era architecture. Set out on foot toward San Pedro Prison, a self-contained community whose inmates live and work with their families.
See the exterior of the enormous prison and then duck into a local market to try some fresh fruit. Learn to navigate La Paz’ public transport on a trip high into the hills, where you can snap panoramic photos of the enormous city.
From there, descend to the Witches’ Market, a center for Aymara healers and spiritualists; if desired, you can pay to have your fortune told by an Aymara shaman. Make a final stop at a local household goods market before finishing the tour back at Plaza Murillo, close to top La Paz attractions.
