Overview
The Sólheimajökull Glacier is a popular tourist attraction in south Iceland, but to get a full appreciation of the natural monument requires more than simply viewing it. Strap on your crampons and get to grips with the glacier itself on a small group walking excursion, and benefit from the professional guide’s knowledge and support to ensure a safe, informative, and unforgettable experience.
What to Expect

Meet your guide and board your bus in the carpark of the Sólheimajökull Cafe. Take a short journey to the foot of the glacier tongue, and receive a short equipment introduction and safety briefing from your guide.

Next, put on your ice cleats and enter the glacial valley. Explore the shafts, streams, and crevasses safely with support from your guide, and notice the distinct signs of the glacier’s formation. Learn more about its development as you traverse the glacier’s ridges.

When finished, head back with your guide to your original meeting point, and continue exploring the region with new insight into the iconic glacier.

Amazing Glacial Access

We loved the excursion, but i felt there were too many people per guide. We were single file most of the time, it would've been nice to hear what the guide was saying as we were walking. Also, you could walk most of the way...More
