GREAT tour, GREAT guide, GREAT experience!
If visiting Dunedin, Tourworks NZ provides a tremendous, flexible, personalized experience! From the day we booked it, we started being impressed. I booked it online from the US about 20 days before we got there, but Russ noticed that the day we reserved didn't match the day our cruise ship was to arrive in Dunedin. So he contacted us from New Zealand to let us know, and said that, even though they were fully booked for the actual date we needed, we needn't worry - he'd find a way to make it work. And he did! No hassles - just great, kind and flexible service. Even though we were a little bit unlucky with rain during part of our time in Dunedin, Russ still made the entire tour so enjoyable. He knows everything about Dunedin, and describes and explains with engaging stories and unquestionable enthusiasm for his city and the surrounding area. He was fun, funny, informative and a delight to spend several hours with. Highly recommend!! Thank you, Russ!

Relaxed and informative tour with Russ
Russ was on time, and informative throughout the tour. Lots of stops for elevated views over the city. Had plenty time to go through Larnach Castle. Got to see the famous Baldwin St and one passenger chose to fast-walk to the top and back - getting cheers from the rest of the group for his speedy ascent and descent. Covered a lot of km's.

      Great tour!
Russ was an awesome guide. We had multiple stops on this 5 hour tour. Extremely comprehensive and enjoyable. Clean modern van with a max of 10 people. A stop at Larnach castle for garden tour and lunch (not included). Beach, peninsula and scenic views with lots of information about the area. Pickup and drop off from the port area so no worries about where to meet. Highly recommended over a huge cruise ship excursion!

      All round incredible tour
An absolutely exceptional tour! We travelled as a group of 12 - and had ages from 7-69. Russ accommodated for us all. We were in Dunedin as part of a cruise and conscious of fitting in as much as we could while in Dunedin. Russ was really helpful in all of the communication in planning the best options for us - and we were very reassured about the time we would need to allocate in order to be back on board in time. We did the 7 hour tour - it was informative, fun, memorable, jam packed and a highlight of our time in New Zealand. His communication in the booking process was outstanding. He obviously loves Dunedin and that oozed in his tour. We loved learning about the city and seeing the highlights of the area. We walked to the top of Baldwin Street. Loved the architecture. Was great to see the castle and eat lunch there. We particularly enjoyed our visit to OPERA and there were so many seals to see. The penguin rehab centre was informative and another highlight. He also endeavoured to keep an eye out for seals along the shoreline knowing how much we wanted to see the wildlife - and we were able to see a sea lion too! And finally our visit to the Albatross Centre we were lucky enough to see the Royal Albatross in flight. It was a big day - but well worth the longer tour to get the all round great experience!!!

Fabulous day out and about in Port Chalmers and Dunedin
We had the most amazing day. Russ’s knowledge and humour was awesome. Tour vehicle was modern and very clean. Relaxing day no stressing about getting back to the cruise ship on time. Fabulous organised tour. Highly recommend.

      Russ was awesome! Highly recommend.
Russ was incredibly knowledgeable about Dunedin, given he’s lived here his entire life! It was so great to hear all the local anecdotes and locations and history from someone who is well versed and really friendly and engaging. The tour hit all the popular spots: Waverly, Smaills beach, Tomahawk beach, St Clair Beach, the world’s steepest street, Baldwin street, the train station, and of course, Larnach Castle! We were picked up and dropped off at the Port Chalmers cruise terminal. Communication with Russ via the GetYourGuide messaging was super easy. Great tour! Our whole group of 11 had a ton of fun with Russ and we would highly recommend this tour.

      Brilliant trip
The very knowledgeable very friendly Russ showed us around Dunedin. His love of his town and New Zealand shone through. The weather was against us, but we had a brilliant day. I'm sure it would be even better when the sun shone. We would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone.

      A Well Spent Day
Thank you Russ for a wonderful day. We saw a lot of Dunedin, but it didn't feel rushed. As a tourguide, very pleasant and easy to listen to. As driver, well done! The Larnach Castle was a highlight of our entire New Zealand trip. My husband and I meant to write a review earlier, but just came across your card! Wishing you blessings from Tennessee.

      Beautiful Dunedin
Our driver/tour guide, Jeff, was excellent. He packed so much into the tour taking us to the prettiest parts of a very pretty city in Dunedin. Jeff explained the history of the various places we visited from the dormant whale trading through the Edinburgh like university and the glorious historic train station culminating with ninety minutes at the castle. The bus was perfect for our tour size, Jeff's banter and dry Kiwi humour along with both his deep knowledge and pride in the area made this a great event for us. You cover a lot in Dunedin in the time available and Jeff ensures you are back at the port well before departure.

Must Do Dunedin Tour by Tourworks NZ
Fabulous tour and Russ was a terrific guide. He was very knowledgeable about local history and a great driver. Easy pick up from our cruise ship at the port and a comfortable mini bus for the 6 people we had on the tour. Lots of stories about Dunedin's history, with some told from his unique perspective having grown up and lived there for many years. Weather was a bit drizzly on the day but Russ was well prepared with umbrellas availble for us to use. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Dunedin, I feel it was much better value than our ship's offered shore excursions.

We recently took a cruise to New Zealand stopping at several ports, Dunedin being our first. We are so glad we decided to go with a smaller more personalized tour over the larger buses the cruise lines recommend. Russ our tour guide was easy to spot within the terminal and once we introduced ourselves we were on our way. Russ has vast amount of knowledge he shares along journey making it both interesting and enjoyable. Thanks again Russ for making the tour a memorable one.

We booked this tour while on a NZ Cruise with Princess Cruises, but booked this tour directly through the website and email rather than through the cruise ship. This was a great overall tour of Lanarch Castle and Dunedin city highlights. Russ was a pleasure to deal with from the very first email and discussion right through to the end of the tour. It was a very well organised small group (around 10 I think) with lots to see and do including the railway station, Lanarch Castle, Baldwin Street, University, Signal Hill and a number of lookouts overlooking Dunedin and the waterways. Russ was very informative offering great information throughout the tour and always happy to answer any questions.

Only thing I would suggest is to make the decision early whether or not you want to tour inside Lanarch Castle or not. We decided to have some lunch then had to whisk around the inside of the castle with not a lot of extra time to look around the gardens. The time was a little limited at Lanarch to do inside castle, gardens and stop for lunch as well, because there was so much other stuff to see and do on the tour.

Otherwise, the tour was jam packed with sites and things to see and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone coming into Port Chalmers/Dunedin as it gives you a great overall knowledge of the area. Excellent job Russ, very professional and keep up the great work.

Kia ora thanks for taking the time to post your review and the very postive comments. We try to fit as much in as possible with the time available. I take on board your comments regards Larnach Castle. Our customers tend to have lunch and spend the rest of the visit exploring the very extensive gardens but we do try to allow enough time to have lunch and tour inside as well as view the gardens. They can be very busy here, especially on cruise ship days. We always advise to eat first as the café can be very busy. Other than that you enjoyed your visit so happy days.

The best way to see any City is to book a Guided Tour and this one in Dunedin was tops and jam packed. We were the only 2 passengers and despite the gloomy weather, Russell went out of his way making it very interesting with his local knowledge. Well worth it even though it would've been more enjoyable on a sunny day.

We attended this tour whilst on our 12 night cruise, externally from the Cruise Line Shore Excursions. So glad we did. Les was knowledgeable guide and about Dunedin and was also entertaining. Dunedin is such a beautiful city and I can appreciate why Les was so passionate with the information he shared.
Pick up at Port Chambers was on time and the communication leading up to the tour was always maintained in a positive manner.
Our travel mates attended the longer tour with Tourworks NZ that same day and, they too enjoyed their tour.
We were all back on board with plenty of time, prior to departure.
Do not hesitate to book with Tourworks NZ for your shore excursion. They are reliable and recommended.

From the moment we started the tour until the last second, our driver, Les, was informative and full of anecdotes, facts, stories, memories and observations. Part historian, part raconteur, Les clearly loves Dunedin and conveyed that affection in everything he said. He packed a lot into the three hours, so that we saw much more of Dunedin than we anticipated. There were lots of stops for viewing and taking photographs. And luckily for us, the weather was beautiful. A great way to get a visual and other sense of Dunedin.

Our guide was great ... knowledgeable about the area and proud of his homeland. He gave us a great tour of the city with information about its past and present state. We drove down by the coast, but did not stop ... that would have made the trip just a little better. But we saw the beautiful countryside and were able to take pictures from some elevated areas.

This was such a great overview of the city and the Otago Peninsula! Our guide, Russ, kept us so engaged and interested in so many of the things and places that make Dunedin such a great place to visit! We saw so much and some we went back to visit! Loved his suggestions on other things to do and see while we ate here! This was just the 3 hour tour, the longer tour would be fantastic! Thanks Russ!!

We booked a half day city tour of Dunedin through directly through this company.

The guide, Paul, arrived very promptly we were then off to see Dunedin.

There was only 4 of us on the tour and Paul was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout. Also had a good sense of humour.

We were taken around all the points of interest and as we were a small group we were always at least 1 step ahead of the larger tour buses.

The tour had a really relaxed feel to it and I would highly recommend.
