    Itinerary

The trip consists of 3 full hours spent out in the ocean; during that time you will cruise around the national park so you can have a closer view of the islands, check caves and birds (blue footed boobies are nesting there), snorkel and visit playa Nopalera.

At the end of the 3 hours you will be taken back to Sayulita for lunch all together at a local restaurant.

The day starts at 9 am here at the office in Sayulita, from here you will be driven to Punta de Mita, where our boat is located and we begin the excursion. You will be out for 3 hours in the ocean, get back to Sayulita after that for lunch and done with everything at around 2 pm.

My teen daughter and I took this tour a few days ago and now back home in BC still talking about it. Booking, getting our fin sizes on a day, taxi shuttle ride to Punta Mita...all went smoothly and I have found both Roberta and Stephane very helpful. I have forgot to mention

I went on this tour alone and had to be at the marina by about 7:10 for the tour which started at 7:30. First get your 20 pesos marina ticket then go to the ticket booth where you pay the park fee and get your day pass. Once on the boat we were given a continental breakfast of

I am trying to get this review removed but looks like it's not working. The excursion described definitely do not match our trip, most of all the part where it states that not certified divers are taken in the ocean without a previous training...Definitely not us and despite it's a 5 star review I would appreciate it to be removed. Thanks

The reviews posted about this company and it's snorkeling service at the Marieta Islands led my fiance and myself to believe it would be a much different experience. While I am not here to say whether it is good or bad, I would like to share our experience so you can decide for

Hi Megan, thanks for finding the time to write your comment. I would like though to go through it with my answer and see if I can give my own understanding of what happened. I would like to start saying that nowhere online, either our webpage or TripAdvisor page, is ever stated, mentioned or implied that me or Stephane will be leading the excursion. It was kind of clear though from the day before the excursion that you didn’t have a clear idea of what you guys actually booked, considering you stopped by the office to ask if you had to taxi to Punta de Mita when it’s clearly stated (this one is!) we provide transportation from the office to the dock. Let’s get to the day of the excursion. You joined us on the 8th of January, one of the busiest week of the season together with Christmas and NewYears week. Let me apologize if you were mislead to think you would have been alone on the boat, but we have 3 boats and during busy times they run full capacity. On that specific morning 2 of them went out snorkeling, 8 people on the boat you joined, 10 people on the other boat. As you said liability release was passed by, fins were tried on and everyone was asked the following “ After the excursion once back in Sayulita you will be taken for lunch at a local restaurant, we usually serve fish tacos and ceviche, is there anyone vegetarian or that doesn’t eat fish so we can have vegetarian options prepared?” To this question everyone answered accordingly and here I ask myself “why do you ask Stephane if you had to pay for lunch once at the restaurant, didn’t you buy a tour with lunch included? why were you surprised of being fed ceviche and tacos when this was what you were asked on that very morning?” You are on the taxi now. In Mexico like every other part of the world cars and boats have a maximum amount of passengers they are allowed to fit inside. I don’t remember which taxi you used on that specific day but considering the taxi company we work with has 8 passengers suburbans, 10 and 14 passengers mini vans, whatever car your 8 people group ended up in, there was enough room to fit you all. Sorry again if you felt pilled up but everything was done accordingly. Let’s talk now about the 45 min drive…I honestly do not remember who was the driver who took you to Mita, let’s say worst case scenario it was a new driver the taxi company just hired, Sayulita-Punta de Mita is an easy 20 min drive, 30 min if you go very slow. Now that a taxi driver is so dumb to take 45 min to drive you there it sounds very unreal to me. We finally made it to Mita and you are on the boat. Again, sorry the boat wasn’t up to your expectations but we never advertise luxury boats, we are open to give all the necessary information if asked and you can find plenty of pictures of our boats on our website, facebook page and youtube channel. Said so, the same consideration I did for the taxi comes handy here for the boat. Marietas Islands is a National Park and UNESCO area. All the boat owners allowed to enter the marine reserve hold a specific permit for the specific boat for the specific amount of passengers registered on the boat permit. Saying that passengers were pilled on the boat is again untrue, as we have to strictly respect the national park regulation unless we won’t to loose our permit to go to the islands. Now let’s move to the “2 primarily Spanish speaking men” Jose Luis, the captain and Edgard the guide. I wasn’t there to see the emphasis they put on that specific day, I am not going to doubt though on the service and care they provide, as yourself were able to deduce from other clients reviews. Saying the captain hates tourist is the funniest comment I heard about him seriously. You weren’t explained how to wear a mask, you weren’t given the time to dress…I am sure that if anyone needed help in wearing mask and flippers (seriously?!) they would have genuinely help out as I saw them doing many time with less younger clients…if you want to dry off, dress, wear sunglasses just do it or do you need permission from the captain? I really don’t get your point here sorry. Then you were offered tiny bottles of water instead of an open bar excursion for which you didn’t paid for…what a surprise. We have plenty of water on board, the reason why the bottles are tiny is because we noticed that with the bigger bottles guests were taking a sip, then loosing the bottle somewhere on the boat, open another bottle and taking another sip…Multiply this process for 8/10 people we end up the day with tons of half full bottles of water that we have to throw away. Since we are aware of the waste we decided to switch to the little one. Not impressed by the marine life…as certified diver you should know that is totally depending on the specific day and it’s something we cannot guaranty on. Now the disastrous excursion is over and we are at the little "hole in the wall place”, which is by the way a local mexican family run business serving traditional mexican food, exactly the kind of authentic experience you are mentioning. I share the link of the horrible place you were taken to end the awful experience you had https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g445056-d4108329-Reviews-Mariscos_Purillo_s-Sayulita_Pacific_Coast.html Mostly 90% of our guests enjoy ending the day at the restaurant, having food, a beer and sharing stories with the people they were out with. Now if after 3 hours on the same boat you didn’t know the names of the people you were with I am questioning who is the one that doesn’t like people apart my captain who hates tourist!!!??? Let’s end this very long reply with an highlight about renting boats out at the marina. If you can find a boat to rent last minute during busy times charges are 80 usd per hour. Considering you were out for 3 hours we are already out of budget with that right? Bus to Punta de Mita? Unfortunately such a thing doesn’ exist, you will have to bus to Bucerias and there take a bus to Punta de Mita. Because there is no bus connection taxes are very expensive…a scheduled transportation like the one you used cost at least 70 usd depending on the number of passengers. I am all ears to customers comments even when they are bad, this always helped us to grow our business and try to work better. A comment like this, just because you are mad at me or Stephane for not being on the boat, is just not fair and untrue.
